I know about this monk. He's a self hating Jewish convert to Russian Orthdoxy and an embarrassment to a lot of Russian Orthodox People. He's also a racist. He tries to vilify the Jews but what he is really doing is giving Holy Orthodoxy a bad name. He believes in all the old blood libels even though he was born a Jew. If he were my kin I would most definitely throw him a funeral and sit shiva for him. One thing about Orthodox Christians is that they have a long and painful relationship with Islam, one that makes them cautious about disrespecting Islam, totally pro-palestinian due to the existence of Palestinian Orthodox Christians, but at the same time ready to fight a religious war against the Muslims if that is what it comes down to. There is a lot that we can learn as both Christians and neighbors of Muslims from the Orthodox.

If I were a ruler of some backwards little isolated Kingdom, I would give the JWs two choices...as a tax for being neutral and not loyal to the nation, I would make it their national duty to count the votes as their disloyalty and neutrality would actually be advantageous for such a responsibility. If they wouldn't agree to that, I would give them their own little vatican to which I would deport all of them, so that they wouldn't be polluted by our worldly influence, and my subjects wouldn't be annoyed by their door knocking. I would even give their ambassadors diplomatic immunity, as long as they stayed away from little kids. -

Drugs and Alcohol Ruin Your Life

in my eyes this is a fact.. this is where it starts to get a little suspicious, as they also say (or subtly hint at) "that if you leave the wt you will becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol and will ruin your life".. its almost like a self fulfilling prophecy.
as there are a lot who leave the borg and they do start drinking heavy or smoking, or taking drugs...or whatever.. the wt capitalizes on the fact that people want more freedom, and they subtly ingrain the thought that.

In states like California, I don't think marijuana is such a big issue because of the ease of obtaining a medical marijuana prescription. I think a dub would draw the line at edibles and using a vaporizer. I couldn't imagine any of them smoking if only for the aroma it leaves on someone. I've even heard rumors of some glaucoma suffering ghetto dubs growing. Its all very hush hush and when you live in a town that smells of dead roadkill skunks and marijuana which both smell like each other, snitching is a waste of time.

They have been giving talks too recently for any new light to come out. They could quietly tell the elders what kind of congregational discipline is high and low priority just to keep the numbers up. They could relax disciplining those who still associate with the disfellowshipped and just still preach against it. Or simply put in more checks and balances to make sure it isn't a matter of elders power tripping, so that the corruption and hypocrisy doesn't stink as badly. Or they could make reinstatement a lot easier. Making reinstatement a lot easier they can come across as loving without actually comprimising. It won't help the heretics and independent thinkers. Didn't Christ say that you should forgive your brother Seventy times Seven times? -

I think Christian Nationalism can be either incredibly Libertarian (Rastafarians), incredibly Liberal (Anglican Church), or incredibly Totalitarian (Kony, the Mormon Fundamentalists, Nueva Jerusalén.) Christian Nationalism isn't so bad as long as the different flavors of the Kool-Aid stay watered down. When it isn't watered down enough it might as well be poisoning the message of Christ. The Quietism of the Jehovah's Witnesses and other apolitical cults is more depressing than any because they have given up on making the world a better place.

JW going to prestigious university
by ivanatahan ini've been debating this, and my mother (the spiritual head of my family, she even controls my father spiritually, who is an elder) doesn't seem to be starkly against me going to a prestigious university.
in fact, i've been going over my chances, and i'd say i have a pretty decent chance of going to my dream university, oxford university, to study philosophy, politics, and economics.
naturally i wouldn't tell my mother about me wanting to take the three most hated subjects of jws at a university that would bring me into bad relations with "spiritually sound jws".. do you guys know any ex-jw or knowledgeable jw who knows ttatt that went to a randall group or ivy league school?

Join the (live-in) conservation corps if you have to (if you live in the US). just kind of run away, and you will be transported to beautiful nature but harsh working conditions. At the end of a year you'll have a small educational stipend, and you can say it wasn't the military. A clean fade for a young one who isn't so sure about anything.
