i find it incredible that the public doesn't know this.

the watchtower society is showing callous disregard for the rights and safety of the public.. i really think we need to make an effort to get the word out.

the watchtower society and child abuse are in the news now, especially with the candace conti case and the recent actions of anonymous.. do you think we can get a newspaper interested in covering this story?

I find it incredible that the public doesn't know this. The Watchtower Society is showing callous disregard for the rights and safety of the public.

I really think we need to make an effort to get the word out. The Watchtower Society and child abuse are in the news now, especially with the Candace Conti case and the recent actions of Anonymous.

Do you think we can get a newspaper interested in covering this story? All we need is one and it could go viral.

Perhaps we can gather the documentation of this practice and discuss some ideas. What do you think?

I'm sure there are a number of precautions that can be taken to protect that list, but the biggest concern might be the fact that they cant really trust the workers at bethel. If I were at Bethel and had access to that list, I think I would make a copy to protect myself in case I got downsized or was made a scapegoat for their legal troubles.

I bet the Watchtower Society will be more reluctant to send take down notices on YouTube and other sites. It may be their legal right to do so, in some cases, but it is an unpopluar move for a cult to take down information that the public should be aware of. I believe this was a factor in the anonymous attack against Scientology a few years ago. Scientology kept trying to take down that infamous Tom Cruise video and it backfired.

If I understand it correctly, the Watchtower list of pedophiles only contains names where there were at least two witnesses. That's a pretty high standard. It's possible that a few are innocent, but there would be good reason to remove all of them from any positions of authority. However, it's very plausible that some are still serving as elders or ministerial servants. This would be a pr disaster if the list was released.

There is also the problem that these people are encouraged to go door to door. I think the public really needs to be made aware of this.

A petition that really works! Change the law to bring the WTS to its knees!

i know that most people on here dislike the idea of a petition, but i think i finally realized a petition that could really work.

in the candice conti case she was allowed to start a civil lawsuit that was way past the statute of limitations.

because california has changed the their civil statute of limitations in sexual abuse cases.. so how do petitions come in?

According to this thread the statute of limitations might not apply if there is fraud involved.

I'm sure that most lawyers would rather handle simpler cases first, but there might be some hope for victims that are past the statute of limitations.

of particular note is the "highlight" on page 4, announcing the attendance at the memorial in the usa.. the 2012 yearbook notes the memorial attendance in 2011 was 2.563,318, while in 2012, per the september 2012 km, it was 2,502,055 -- a decline of 2.4%.. .

I think another factor may have been the ridiculous invitation they had this year. It asked some kind of question about how you viewed Jesus and then invited the person to come to the memorial to get the answer. If I were still in, I would have been too embarrassed to offer it to people. I'm sure that some of the witnesses felt the same way. Why spend time inviting people to the memorial when the Society can't take the time to produce an invitation that makes sense?

I'm bumping this because of the Candace Conti case. I know there are some who would like to sue the Watchtower Society, but are past the statute of limitations. Perhaps the information in this article could be used to allow even more people to seek damages because of the Watchtower Society's fraudulant and dangerous policies.

The Sparlock entry on Wikipedia is well written. A lack of sources appears to be a problem. I wonder if the recent news articles in Norwegian would qualify. If they have to be in English, maybe a Norwegian Sparlock page could be set up and it could be translated into English.

It would be nice to use the video itself as a source. I don't think Youtube videos qualify. It should eventually be available on JW.org (assuming the Watchtower Society isn't too embarrassed to post it). I also checked the Library of Congress and couldn't find it, but there are some othe Watchtower publications.
