So just what or who DO you have faith in now?
by oompa ini never used to wonder about death, or what comes after, because i had all the answers!
but now i really wonder, but not with fear....it feels odd, and i am curious.
this planet and universe are so incredible and complex that to me it defies logic that someone must have had a creative hand it.

Our local PO claims the jw-media.org site contains false information and is an apostate site!
Too funny. He's right of course. He just doesn't realise how right he is.

What?! You were denied a job based on being DA'd?? Hell no, don't let this one slide.
Well, I was having discussions with a witness about doing some work for his company. It was a possibility that he might hire me. He was also discussing my services with his boss and it was a good possibility that I might be hired by someone else. Then I DA'd and he stopped talking to me, although I sent him an email about the situation. I'm not sure that I have a very good case, but I did my best to document the situation in case I'm ever involved in any litigation over the shunning issue.

Feb. 1 mass calling campaign. Will you call?
by Shawn10538 ini'm not sure if it was mentiopned.
but i think that we are talking about not just one call from each person, but we are talking about spending a good length of time calling repeatedly.
othrwise it just won't have much of an impact.

Wow, this is an interesting discussion. I just wanted to share my view of apostates while I was a JW. This is just based on my personal experiences while growing up. I wasn't afraid of them or thought they were crazy. I just thought they were relatively helpless. I didn't know any and I hardly ever saw them. I didn't even know how to get my hands on apostate literature if I wanted to. I didn't really know what their major complaints were. Occasionally, I might see a single apostate at an assembly with a sign or screaming abuses. I unconsciously drew the conclusion that since they couldn't seem to get their act together, they probably didn't have anything important to say. If they decided to do something, it was probably the result of a personal grudge. If I knew there were so many apostates and that they had legitimate concerns, I would have probably looked at things very differently. I'm sure that others have had very different experiences, but I do believe that many JWs have never even heard about some of the big controversies about their organisation or don't realise that a lot of people are very concerned about these issues.

I propose a telephone campaign.

it's hard to organise activity among ex-witnesses or any group that is primarily defined by what it isn't.

As for their blocking your attempts to make a living, could you elaborate?
I was having discussions about a part time job with a witness. There were still a few details to be worked out. There was also a possibility that I might be hired by someone else where he works. Then I decided to DA and haven't heard form him since. It's not a real big deal for me, but it is the type of discrimination that the WTS policies encourage.

I suggest that we call the headquarters on the first day of each month or as soon as is convenient afterwards. If you want your comments to be part of a theme, I suggest the topic of the U.N. scandal for February.
Isn't that a bit Watchtoweresque? It is a little bit. I understand the reluctance of engaging in any sort of organised protest after escaping from the Watchtower Society. Still the organisation for this campaign is pretty informal. All we have is a suggested time and theme. If you want to be rebellious or assert your individuality, you can call at a different time or on another subject or not call at all. This is just an opportunity to do something that will be reinforced by others. Some of us want that. Some of us don't.

...and the first day of following months.
My biggest reason is for myself. I haven't spoken to a single witness since I DA'd. Their shunning of me has been total. They are using the resources of a multi billion dollar corporation to slander my reputation, deny me job opportunities (this has already happened), and cut me off from my friends and family. This is not OK. It's not fanatical to respond with a mild and peaceful protest to their abusive policies. I have written letters, started blogs and posted here, but I look forward to speaking to an actual person. I'm glad that a few, at least, have a similar opinion and will be offering moral support by doing the same thing.
I also believe that this may do some good to others. These phone calls may make some people think. It will apply additional pressure for the WTS to modify their policies. It's possible that lives could be saved or children could be protected from abuse. Or maybe it will just cause a minor disruption that will make it harder for them to spread their lies. Either way I'm calling.

So we call headquarters and ask them tough questions.... And this does what, exactly?
It might make them think. It might tie up their phone lies and make them move workers away from publishing lies. It might make the caller feel a little better about himself to protest the their organised assault on former witnesses. (shunning, breakup of families, slanderous comments about "apostates", etc.)
