Did you go out party/celibrate "New Years" while being a Witness!!

most times i end up drinking alone listening to the neighbours party, and watching the clock tick by {my wife wen't to bed at 11 pm}...one time a witness friend of mine came over since we had "nothing better to do.

" a few naughty witnesses go into the city to watch the fireworks...which of course is frowned upon.

did you secretly celibrate in your own way?

Only once did we have a big Party that night. Elders, ms,everyone was there. All had a great time. OH, I did have to talk my ex into that one. Most of the time on New Years, I drank alone and watched Dick Clark.

Back in the 70's I went to a fooball game with 5 others, 3 elders one ms. The PO and myself went up to get a beer and it just so happened that the national anthem started as we we were making our way to our seats. We stopped and stood in the crowd. Get this part, the Po starts humming along to the star spangled banner! WOW! Shock! Whoa, i didn't hear that, did I!? YUP! I didn't say anything, just a natural reaction, maybe? So, anyways, as the game finished, we lost of course, the Lions always loose on thanksgiving. we were leaving the stadium and this same bro. the PO says to me" let's make like hockey players and get the PUCK out of here". Ture story. So, about a week later I cornered him after the thurs meeting and told him of my disappointment and dismay at his comments and actions at the game. His reply to me," I am sorry you feel that way, however, I am not a SPIRITUAL person"!!!! OMG! Batman! So, I approached the secretary and related the events to him. he said that it was being handled. After about 3 months or so he and his wife moved. Only then was it announced that he was no longer an elder. The good ole boys covered for him.

Yes, it is true that the powers to be will always have control over the usa. I have been voting for the past 8 years and inspite of how I vote, I know that WHO ever you vote for , there are factions in place that will always serve their own interests. We, the PEOPLE have no control over our own welfare.. Our longevity and self determination are in the hands of others, not us.It doesn't matter who is on the ticket, it will never matter anyways.

Watchtower says JW's can reach different conclusions & it's fine!!!

watchtower study article "responding to your conscience" (october 15, 2007, pages 25-29, studied december 3-9, 2007) .

dealing with, inter alia, oral sex, contained what i thought was an interesting new way of describing how jw's can form their own personal, and different, conclusions and that no one needs to be 'disturbed' by this.

i have never seen the watchtower describe it quite this way, even in relation to conscience matters like whether to attend a church wedding.
