  JAMES WOODS is in the hospital (heart related)

  james woods has been a long time regular on this discussion group in all of its incarnations.. he had some kind of "heart-attack" and has been in dallas' emergency ward for several days.

  he also has a blood clot doctors are working to break up.. 972-261-4412 is his cell number.. he was in a talking mood yesterday afternoon.. i bet it wouldn't kill him to get some well-wishes.. james goes back a long way as an ex-jw.

  he knows where the bodies are buried :).

  Her actions can also be categorized as abuse---verbal, emotional and physical. I don't find that behavior amusing at all because usually it escalates from breaking THINGS to hitting YOU. I would suggest you reconsider how healthy these exchanges between you and your wife are, and whether some therapy might be in order for anger management.

  CO visit must be coming up

  the cobe of the cong we attended called me and left a vm, and also emailed both me and my husband.

  this all happened yesterday.

  he said he was checking in to see how our family was doing, which is a joke.

  Have you ever had your oven door explode?

  the other day the glass in my oven door exploded and sent glass into the next room, fortunately i wasn't peering in at the time.

  about a year go the previous oven door shattered one morning.

  the oven was cold.

  Wow! I'm glad you are ok. I have never heard of this happening before...I didn't know it was possible. (I have a cheap apartment stove without a glass window, so I am not used to "new-fangled" fancy appliances.) lol

  me and my new girlfriend

  you see ive started dating this girl and her family is of strong jehova belief.

  now i am not i do see certain things in there studie that is true in my opinion but ive never really been a religion type of person.

  i think i want to marry her but i am not a jehovas witness and am not looking to be anytime at all she says that is ok and we can still get married but i dont know how its possible or where we would even do it please i need advice

  All the things we said to you already are important, but I think you need to start at the beginning and re-examine this. Your title is "Me and my NEW girlfriend: (1) new girlfriend, (2) you just started dating her, (3) and you are already planning to get married??? Under "normal" circumstances (not dating a JW) marrying someone this quickly is a very bad idea. You need more time to know someone well enough to determine if you can establish a good life with them even if they did not have the insane JW stuff going on. I think many married people would agree with me and advise you that thinking you love someone is not the only consideration for this decision. Perhaps getting some "pre-marital counseling" to understand what life issues you will face will help you to see whether this is a wise decision for either of you.

  How to survive an assembly

  hey i was just wondering if you guys had any ideas on how to keep my brain occupied while i'm at an assembly tommorow.

  maybe besides tallying the number of times they say jehovah and jesus or counting how many people are wearing red.

  i want to keep myself from going insane or having some kind of panic attack lol.

  Long ago, when I was a teenager in the organization, we served meals at the assembles/conventions. The event also lasted several days, (in some instances a week) so I volunteered with "food services" for the entire time. I got to meet other JW's my age (and actually had fun with them), stayed out of the seat most of the program, and looked good to my parents and others because of my willingness to serve the brothers.

  They don't serve meals anymore, but aren't there still things you could volunteer for? If I remember correctly, they always needed more help, and even had a "volunteer department" set up where you could find an assignment once you arrived. Try "lost-and-found", emergency medical services, babysitting the contribution boxes, etc. You might even get what no one else wants---bathroom duty. But hey, if it keeps you busy and distracted from the program...

  If you don't enjoy working with the public choose another career.

  i'am sure you have come across someone with that type of personality, working in sales, clerk, waitress or waiter.

  most are nice but once in a while you come across that person that needs to choose a different career.. this morning i met that person, she just screwed up my day.

  i'm thinking maybe her day wasn't a good start,a fight with her husband, bills or children but don't screw up my day.

  A month ago I was scheduled to have eye surgery for cataracts at a local hospital. The day before the procedure my doctor's office called me and changed my 10:00 am appointment to 6:00 am the next morning. When I arrived for registration, the receptionist questioned why my appointment was changed and I said that they told me that they needed time for the pre-op procedure. She argued that the change in appointments was unusual, and that "something must be wrong" if they did that. She repeated it several times until I said that I did not want to discuss it further as I was already nervous about being there and I would find out the reason when I got upstairs. (It was simply because several other patients were scheduled for that day, and they had to adjust the times to fit everyone in.)

  I contacted the Patient Advocate the next day, and upon hearing my story, she apologized profusely, and indicated that she knew who that receptionist was, and I gathered that they had problems with her previously. A few days later, the receptionist's supervisor called me and told me that this was her (receptionist's) last week of work, and that "it was agreed that she should find employment elsewhere" because they'd had problems and complaints about her for some time. I've worked in hospitals, and I know that her behavior is not just unprofessional, but harmful to the emotional well being of patients who are seeking care.

  A simple explanation for the financial changes

  as i've mentioned from time to time, i'm a retired accountant.

  i have tried many times to come up with some logical, sound business reason why the wtbs has made the big changes in its financial arrangements: taking the congregations savings, the monthly donations per congregation etc.

  i finally came up with the answer.. the leadership of the watchtower society is batshit crazy.

  I'm with "oubliette" and "never a jw"...some one else has GOT to be steering the ship. Those 7 yahoos couldn't run an ice-cream truck---they'd have it in the ditch in no time flat! I was just thinking of that today. Wouldn't it be funny if the REAL "masters" have taken the money, disappeared, and are leaving these guys holding the bag with the whole mess about to fall down around their ankles?

  Independent living for Senior facilities are thru the roof here. What about your area??

  we checked on a new senior facility, just to get in your must shell out $200.000.00 and.

  don't get that back.

  two hundred thousand up front and payments from $2500.00-$5000.00.

  @James Mixon...I live in Pennsylvania, and there are many such facilities for Independent Living for Seniors that are even cheaper than mine. I pay a flat-fee rent, but some charge 1/3 of your Social Security, so the amount is based on your income. The facilities are partly subsidized by HUD, (government funds for housing), and are considered "low-income housing" and while we do not have luxuries like spas and pools, are very clean and well taken care of with on-site laundry facilities, libraries, parking lots and nice grounds and a Social Worker available for help with benefits, etc. The one I live in is actually rather nice. On the other hand, there are some that charge the fees you listed.

  @FTB...I have no idea what the answer is in regards to paying for the next step. I will be educating myself about that soon, I guess. I don't think Medicare will pay for a very fancy facility, so unless you have the income, assets or have prepaid into retirement insurance that addresses that, well...
