having been out of the organisation for over 4 years and having finally released my kids from the hellish existance that is life as a jw, it struck me today how enjoyable our weekends are in comparison to when we were jw's.. the weekends are vital for us just now.
my wife doesn't work but i work full time from very early in the morning.
i don't get to see my beutiful children in the morning during the week.
uncanny similarity to our experience of hauling
FOUR young kids around in the assinine pursuit
of "pleasing a god"....
weekends are not quite the romp you describe as i
am working my way thru a degree program but i
LOVE what i am studying and altho my kids are all
fairly well grown, they are happier and we have
stronger bonds that were ever possible in the
service of the b0rg......

well since i was born into and baptized
by my family into the catholic church and
i left that one in the dust....
lets just say JWs werent the first
beggars to carry me across the stream...

i was raised a jw and i still suffer effects from that kind of upbringing.. anyway, they said they were local community volunteers and they wanted to give me something related to the community.
i didn't open the door but they put a jw tract through it.. i don't think it's right to be so devious about recruitment.
that tactic, concealing the fact it is a JW
knocking at your door, was used at the
KH i attended....

is a queue of advanced age virgins
formed well in advance of you, not
to mention the older and wiser and
financially stable divorced, widowed
and "not raised in the truth so more
expereinced in things that go bump
in the night" brothers who might
actually captivate her imagination
(she might even be having HOT
fantasies as well and if she is i
can guarantee you they wont stop
just because she says "i do")
not assigning motive, maybe she is
merely playing a charade about her
spirituality and is planning her own
escape and would be off-put by the
mere notion of being a JW wife!

even if you advance in this game,
better hope there is more than
a pretty face, cos an empty head
and a shallow, "all about the looks"
character can end up in bitterness...
ETA: btw, i have a very active fantasy

unfaithful once in 27 years, not even

yesterday, i brought a batch of cupcakes to my son's school.
in passing them out, i started to give one to one of the children, who was a jw.
he immediately started freaking out and screaming "no thank you" over and over.

while participating on this website (one of the only three places i've discussed religion online) i asked a question:.
i've observed quite a few posts and comments here about religious intolerance toward gay men and women (i'm quoting), the terror and murder of homosexuals instigated by christians.
the religion i was raised in was in agreement with the bible based view that alternative lifestyles are immoral but they never instigated any hateful rhetoric toward gay men or women.
homosexuality was initially considered an
abomination by OT desert-dwelling semi-nomadic
monotheistic outcasts (in ancient times) who needed
their tribal members in high capacity reproductive mode
in order to become populous enough to maintain an
army in order to take possession of other people's
lands and hold on to it.... being gay did not fit the
mission
abominations in OT times were practices unacceptable
to the israelites (much like what JWs do today), purposely
making themselves different from "others who are not
like us"... come on, people! seafood? really? a moral
failing, even with a squeeze of lemon and a dollop
of tartar sauce? going to a birthday party, or saluting
a flag? abominations? really?
wish i could remember who said it, in the documentary
titled "For the Bible Tells Me So" but the line was this:
It is okay to have a 5th grade understanding of the bible....
as long as you are in the 5th grade
homosexuality is not unnatural, just uncommon, like left handed people...
i mean seriously, what are the odds of being a left-handed queer? how gauche!

i would like to share a news article from cnn i thought was interesting.
i'm 'spritual but not religious' person who still believes in god almighty and jesus as his son.
i actually skimmed the article, since i was off-put
by the assertion that people who express a spiritual
facet but choose for whatever reason to eschew
organizations that exalt a god are looking for a
way out of responsibility to the larger community
of "humanity"....
bollocks! one does NOT equal the other
i have been more active, more involved and more
capable of generosity with my time and resources
than ever before, even after totally distancing myself
from attachment to deity...
i suspect at some level spirituality was the creative
force behind the development of deity in the first place
i am spiritual, but so done with all things religious....

and i was the ONLY one who ever read my copy!!!
plus we used to have hundreds of "field service" copies
languishing for months at a time, since no one wanted
the birdcage liners at the doors and the public places
were always current thanks to the skills of pioneers!!
eventually they ended up in recycling, never opened
and surely never read
what a ridiculous assertion: the most widely read magazine in the world
