  my son, who happens to be a female to male
  transgender 17 YO boy, was with me at the
  (as in THE only) grocery store in town, where
  LOTS of people are stocking up for a late winter
  blast that could leave 16 inches of snow and
  power outages in its wake....

  there was a JW sistah TM who saw us, and i just smiled
  and said "hi ya", since i determined a while back that
  i simply dont play their game or respect their stance...
  ( i would have used her name if i could recall it!!)

  i kid you not! she tried to look away, but she could NOT
  hide her smile ( as mine was genuine, since i really did
  like her, and probably still could) and she literally gave
  me and my son what can only be described as an imperial nod....
  eye-contact, broad smile, and a dip of the chin, but not a word
  passed her lips...

  i just chuckled and shrugged my shoulders and kept discussing
  with my son what our options might be for food that we may not
  be able to cook or heat..... she left very shortly after that

  Worst Night of the Year

  well, it's that time of year again.

  the memorial season is upon us and jws the world over are getting ready for the celebration which this year falls on 17 april.

  for the first time since 1975, yours truly will not attend and i couldn't be happier.

  i so agree with the title of this thread!!!

  the absolute WORST night of the year!

  the last memorial i attended, and i am thinking it is
  at least 4 if not 5 years ago, i had already been in
  a "fade" although i didnt know there was such a
  designation... i wasnt as yet mentally separated
  from the propaganda, so i felt compelled to be there....

  however "there" was a KH across the border in Canada...
  where i knew no one.... and it was then the scales REALLY
  fell off.... snooty women, ill-behaved children, and of course
  that utterly inane, mind-numbing BS they spew from the
  platform.... that ripped it for me, i knew i wouldnt go back...

  then, about 5 months later, happened on a site that had
  links linked to links linked to links and viola! JWD really
  opened my eyes to the dastardly nature of the WTS

  there are no words to describe the sense of guiltless
  freedom that permeates my life these days....

  i've seen a few threads/posts where some of y'all have heard from jw contacts and how they've stepped up their 'the end is close' rhetoric because of the earthquake/tsunami in japan.

  i usually take those things with a grain of salt.

  there's always some jw whose cheese has slipped that reads prophecy into every little thing that happens.

  TV's best Series-ending episodes

  and now for something a little lighter.. i enjoy well made movies and television series, especially when they push the envelope, do something different.

  there are currently two tv series i'm following closely (dexter and breaking bad), both of which have great promise for spectacular endings.. here are my biased rankings for a few television series that actually wrapped up with a final episode (out of 10).

  m*a*s*h, "goodbye, farewell and amen" - february 28, 1983, after eleven seasons - 7/10 (series went on too long, got stale, ending was overdue).

  i liked ER which i watched in its entirety*...

  they brought back many relevant characters
  from earlier seasons to catch the viewers up
  with their "lives"....

  loved and hated "saving grace" ending....
  the only way it could have ended

  *even tho it was a thursday night/ book study night
  the BS met at my house and by 9:00 everyone was
  gone and yes i went straight to the tube and sat
  to watch ER in my dress clothes!!!

  I committed un-suicide yesterday

  yesterday i opened my wallet and took a long look at the (no) blood card prominently displayed inside.

  i have been convinced that this is not the truth for a couple of years now, and am trying to figure out whether to fade or da.

  it hit me hard yesterday that with this piece of paper in my wallet, i could possibly end up dying for beliefs i no longer hold.
