i have become reconciled to the concept that everything we
call alive is pretty much star dust components, recycling endlessly
and i am SO engaged in making this assemblage count!
everyone has different views about life after death and whether or not it is a possibility.. as jehovah's witnesses, we were always taught that there is no life after death, that this is the only life we have now and that the wages of sin is death.. .
what are your views on life after death?.

wishing all of you a happy sunday.
this morning i was unpacking family heirlooms that have been some six months in storage.
in the bottom of a cranberry glass dessert dish was what i took to be a tiny curtain ring.
lovely! i wish you could tell them too
i am just beginning a massive project of renovation and organization and expect to have many such surprises!
fair play coco...
cheers

or are you pretty much the same, as a person?.
do you still worry about doing everything just so?.
do you still suffer from depression and angst?.
i forgot to mention that i, too, went thru the stage
of being a marginal deist, but have gone on to the
place where i have no concerns about there being
any singular force in the universe that gives two
hoots in a handbag about the way this world turns.....
i am convinced the bottom line was, is and will be stardust....
and i am quite all right with that! downright giddy, in fact!
in my area atleast 50% if not more..
my 4 offspring are all out.... and it was their exits that
helped me find the door, so thank you babies!!! <3
i remember at one point in my witness history going to an assembly and listening to the speaker request that the audience repeat some sort of agreement to be good or something.
i can't remember exactly what it was but i found it disturbing to hear everyone just mindlessly agree.
anyway i decided to rework the famous allegiance in the key of witness.. if you have your own rendition of such, please chime in!.
i will take thoughtful citizens over loyal ones ANY day....
same applies to the religious
i attended the naming ceremony of a jewish child whose father
changed the wording from "being a loyal citizen" because
he reasoned loyalty is not the domain of righteousness
citing "loyal nazis" and no, dont make the leap that equates the
JWs to nazis... but blind, thoughtless loyalty to any purpose is
to be questioned ... and that is how thoughtful JWs end up here!
do you ever look back and cringe thinking of things you said or how you acted in the door-to-door ministry?.
i recently had two jws at my door and posted about that here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/210246/1/jws-at-my-door.
they were gracious and polite.
i cringe at the thought of having ever been duped!!
now if i meet former "householders" who i think
remember me, i apologize humbly and make sure
to give them info about DNC and other insider
aspects of the workings of the cult... and yeah
they know WTS is a cult before they walk away.....

genuine in everything, not trying to force the dissonance
to make sense or seem a desirable state of existance...
happy, busy, productive, engaged
in real service to my community
and the world beyond, political,
generous, studious, content, and
utterly relieved to have walked away.....

thanks again; it feels great to share the news of completion...
about 3 years ago i was ambivalent and concerned i wasnt
really up to the task, that being over 50 was an impediment,
still not sure where i was "in the faith" didnt even know i was
fading, yada yada.... a friend had passed on advice she had
received when contemplating taking on a degree program
"(X number of years) from now, you are going to be <insert age>
whether you went to school or not; if you DO go to school at
least you will be that much smarter, and not just older."
@DoC: no need to inhale... just bake and snack!
@ mr freeze: oh, i preach all right.... but it is in direct opposition to the nattering of the b0rg!
@CoCo: i have seen Lorenzo's Oil and EERILY i was thinking about it on the drive
home today, remembering augusto uncharacteristically blaming michela for their
son's grim condition because of "her tainted blood".... essential oils are the highly
volatile extracts of plants that carry the fragrance, composed of terpenes, alcohols,
phenols, esters, ethers, ketones, aldehydes... each functional group contributing
some sort of therapeutic benefit (anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, carmative, sedative,
mucolytic, etc)... not related to the short-, medium-, long- and very long- chained
oils we are familiar with like olive oil, canola, etc..... although we did study these
types of oils as dilutants or carrier oils, for the HIGHLY concentrated EOs...however,
they are totally different in terms of their chemical structures and properties
thanks for the congrats, lovely folk
bankers or fraudsters?.
60 minutes the next housing shock.
edit: can't get the video to show up.
i actually remarked to a close friend something along the lines
"bet madison (wisconsin) was a warm up for what is to follow"
seems we are all living in interesting times

thank ye all... i am quite pleased to have it done
my emphasis of study is in the therapeutic use of essential oils
rather than the more cosmetic/perfumery end of it
@pam's girl... totally get the sticker shock of rose otto (Rosa damascena) bulgarian rose,
2000 pounds of rose petals to yield one pound of product, but its fragrance is utterly
captivating... strong anti-viral and can be used to treat herpes simplex (fever blisters)
@band on the run... lavender is actually a really effective anti-inflammatory agent as well as
being noted for sedative properties... the essential oil will have a more concentrated activity
than a hydrosol, which actually has a less intense, sweeter fragrance than the EO.... also a
GREAT insect repellant, incl fleas... the species is Lavandula angustifolia so check the label
as there are a few types of "lavender" EO on the market, selection is dependent on use
as for lily of the valley, it is used in perfumery so i have no real knowledge of it except to say
the flowers that grow on our hillside are due to bloom soon! i have such fond memories of
sitting on the hill with my kids when they were little, just relishing the scent on the breeze
@syl... me too about patchouli! sure am glad it is legal, because i would break laws to have it!
really effective antibacterial (makes a great deoderant) and antifungal... from the mint family
Pogostemon cablin... it is a fixative in perfumes, having such a lingering odor, due to the truly
MASSIVE, heavy molecules of it chemical constituents... you can tell a higher quality patchouli
by its relatively "weak" initial impression, once again, due to big, heavy molecules being less
volatile.. it is one of the FEW EOs that stores well and improves with age
