i believe part of the impetus for me to finally commit to either re-entry into the fold or re-emergence into the "world" was sincerely looking at the "prize-seekers" and determining even if they ARE right... who the hell wants to spend an eternity with the stepfords? that is all i can see >>> perfectly awful people.....

Are witnesses only interested in the prize?
by Abandoned inwe all know the kingdom melody, keep your eyes on the prize.
do you think the witnesses place too much emphasis on the prize?
why go out in field service?

Baptised, disfellowshipped all before reaching 18
by dinah inhow many times does this happen?
this question just popped in my head while reading the thread about being disfellowshipped.. disfellowshipping is harsh, but to do this to a kid??
kids make mistakes.

if parents would begin to 1) pay attention to the new findings about the development of the adolescent brain and 2) actually CARE that the wiring in their brains is so not in synch with an adult brain, then they would KNOW to discourage any LIFETIME COMMITMENT ( the frontal cortex, seat of reason, does not fully mature, they are now saying, until mid 20s!)
oh! wait!!! that would mean that the emotional blackmail** would have to cease!!!.....
** i may have been the egghead that brought the borg into our lives, but i never even ASKED one of the kids when they were going to be baptized...... the older daughter did, at 11.... but her reasons for wanting to were so linked to her mental health issues ( BPD / Histrionic PD) which were undiagnosed at the time and which i believe NULLIFY the baptism....
no way on EARTH am i going to let them disfellowship her based on that and the SA issues within the cong..... but again, i suspect that because of said issues, no one is pursuing the well and widely know cohabitation she has had, as an elder's wife, our former study conductor, called on the house where she was living ( in sin!) with purple hair and goth attire no less....

evidently, the assumption is that without the 'glow' of the loving embrace of the congregation, life is just one big miserable experience..... ( we DID hear this analogy from the platform in a public talk once, and i remember the elder/study conductor using it on more than one occasion to illustrate the peril of failing to associate with the "friends")
kinda hard to push the pap when life outside the borg is more satisfying, more exciting, more genuine, less contrived, less judgmental, and just plain more affirming than that which was experienced inside the confines of a cult-generated society
definitely, avail yourself of the luxury of SPAM blocking!

i do have a slight trepidation there is a call looming since i know i was observed by a car group at the store this week..... not approached but unmistakably observed.....
i am tempted to put up a sticky note to this effect: be right back, gone to get the christmas lights from K****
but then that is baiting as well as lying.....
where ARE those sticky notes???

didnt see the story but know the highway well
i have traveled the entire length of it multiple times ( segementally) .... including both sections of 35E and 35W in mpls/st paul, and D/FW
i have prayed on it, but mostly because there was an ice storm and we had a gas line freeze up in outside OKC, with a 2YO in the van and me 6 months pregnant

any thoughts?
by BIG D infor those of you that dont know me, i am a single dad with 3 boys for 5 years now, my x signed her rights away long ago.. .
no support ever, no insurance, even before she signed her rights away, many long stories of her abuse that caused her to lose custody to me years ago, she has never dealt with her abuse over even acknowledged it, i put my kids thru years of counseling, and they do not wish to see her, she has been calling alot lately, i dont hear from her for maybe 4 months at a time, she is crying , wanting to try to see them.. i must tell you she has , mentally , physically, and mentally sexually abused them, and then charged me with sexual abuse, with which it took me a year in evaluations, and family studies , and 35,000 in lawyer fees to disprove, and the judge saw her lies and removed them from her for abuse.
i also believe she has many emotional problems , both real and imagined.

my thought is to err on the side of caution!
listen, mate... i moderate on a forum for adult survivors of CSA.... NO one EVER says "i wish i had been allowed to stay in touch with my perp"..... ALL of them decry the lack of genuine protection and support.....
that woman is NOT a mother!!! maintaining homeostasis in order to allow a zygote mature to viablity is the definition of an incubator!
she is a perp and will always be a danger to the physical, emotional and mental safety of YOUR children
please do not be manipulated

Reading between the lines in the January 2008 "Our Kingdom Ministry"
by TooBad TooSad ini like to read the km to see what the wtbts is saying, and then to think about what they really mean.. information appears in the km when problem need to be addressed in the organization.
the article on.
the front page "make the most of your time in the ministry" was insightful to me.

ever hear of the "star of david" pioneer? the zealous one who has RVs in many locales so his/her route in service, when mapped, resembles said star!!! a guaranteed time killer (learned that one from an elderly elder's elderly wife who was decrying the shameless display!)
then there was the pioneer/elder/study conductor who talked me into aux pioneering .... telling me he pumped up HIS hours by waking his 4YO son up at 730 for a bible study and started the clock on his hours!!....so by the time he was conducting the FS mtg he was already had 1.5 hrs..... and this was AFTER they dropped therequired pioneer hours the first time

So who went out in field service on Christmas?
by mavie inmy congregation would have a special service day on all holidays, including christmas.
in order to avoid knocking to early on homeowners doors we would meet at 10am instead of 9:30am.
we would always have the hardcore group ready ard raring to go on dec 25th.

i used to roll my eyes when the story about angelic direction leading dubs to the doors of the estranged and disengaged in the throes of lonliness on xmas day was dredged up and spewed forth.... give me a break!!
i NEVER went on the holidays that people used to gather family close to hearth and heart..... so pompously intrusive

I have a theory. Please take my poll!
by changeling ini'd like you all to tell me 2 or 3 things:.
1- were you raised a witness or not?.
2-if you were, was your family very "theocratic" or not so much?.
