Hello! Time to introduce myself.....

i have been reading the forum the past couple of days, actually i am finding it hard to pull myself away.

i stumbled upon it by accident - searching some thing lead to another and another and here i am.. 3rd generation ex-jw here.

got out fairly young.

Thought I should update this thread, I seem to have let 2 threads on this subject get going -

One of the members suggested trying to log into his account and using the lost password feature so it would be emailed the information to me, since I had been able to hack his 2 email accounts. It appears that he was not registered at this forum. So, this search here for him has ended. But, I have found the forum for myself and I plan to stick around a while. Which I went into more detail on the other thread.

I moved to Mexico 2 and half years ago - needless to say, it has been wonderful, interesting, lonely at times, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything! I live in a beautiful city where the ocean kisses the mountains. The people are friendly and welcome me with open arms. My Spanish is coming along but I am basically going by the seat of my pants. the Mexicans help me in any way they can and we seem to communicate. There are also a lot of people in this city who are bi-lingual. So, I speak English most of the time.

How did I do it? Well, I just did it! LOL. Once my youngest son graduated from high school, I just packed up a suitcase and went. I had a disability check coming in, not a lot, but didn't need a lot to live here - sold my house in the US, bought my dream home here - so with no house payments and my check, I can live far better here than in the US. Gave up a lot to do this, but I guess, it hasn't been the first time I walked away from a former life. I keep in touch with my family and friends via the internet and a VOIP phone with a US phone number.

I am getting bored again and am thinking of moving along again. I haven't decided where, but I plan to experience this big ol world before I check out. LOL

Thanks for your warm welcomes, your suggestions and your offers of help. It has been overwhelmning to me.......

e-mail from active JW/my letters are working

i just recived an e-mail from an active jw friend of mine, he was replying to the utube e-mail i sent him on the molestation cover ups.

he knows the jw are shite, but he's conflicted becasue all his family is still in.

it made me sad, he's young and knows its shite but doen't know what to do.

I can't share any of my stories of letters because I walked away and I didn't look back - but, what do you have to lose? you are not close to the family anyway - -

Look, I was a lone, young woman with my whole life ahead of me, I had doubts, serious doubts and I was alone. Totally alone. I did it, I was brave, I got out. But, my god, how wonderful it would have been to get a letter from one of my aunts, uncles, cousins telling me that my doubts were founded!!!! To know that I had a voice to talk to!! WOW! That might have saved me from 10 years of LSD trips to find God and mj, induced stoopers. - but, hey, I guess that was not ll bad, I had a good time!....... even if no one replies, you have perhaps saved one -

I am sure your letters will start to be returned to you unopeneed from some of them, they may keep your letters out of their children's hands, but hey, I understand, you are doing the right thing. I am proud of you.

See, once you get to where we are, we don't give a damn any more - we are not afraid any more. We have already lost all our friends, our families, we have a new life. MAybe I will write some letters myself.....LOL

OK, well sad news. I sent the requestin for password retrieval on both of his email accounts and it appears he did not have an account here. Frankly, I am surprised. But, anyway, I can at leaset stop searching here and just enjoy the forum for myself!

How on earth can anyone even contemplate being in a religion that makes you shun your sister?

Who can believe in a "loving God" that would even consider tearing families apart?

Who can worship a God that created us, as humans, yet punishes us with death for being human?

Who can believe that God gave us "free will" but if you don't love him and do EXACTLY as he says, then you WILL DIE? Does that sound like free will?

Who is so stupid that they believe that crap?

The irony of a message from my Mother regarding Christmas

knowing that its almost december, and that i will be putting up a tree, my mum told me today that she doesn't want to be invited over to my place while any decorations are up.

she later sent me the following sms: (edited for grammer & spelling).

"i wanted to say that, as you know all the rubbish about santa claus, when you have kids will you allow them to be deceived with this lie?

I am sure this has been discussed here before, but I want to share this little story.

My mother, who is 80 was born into the faith.

I was going through an old box of photos and found one of her holding my oldest brother circa 1948 under a Christmas tree. I called her up and questioned her about it. Oh, you didn't know? The GB had new light in 1958 (?). We celebrated Christmas before that....needless, I was shocked to the core.... NOT!!!!

Neither of us have felt the need to be incognito but we all know that user names can change depending on the site we are on. I have looked at the membership list and it is so vast, it is overwhelmning to me. I am sure that he was here. Perhaps studying more than posting.

He was on a mission to debunk our mom and get her out of the JWs. When he died, my mom was so happy when we found piles of W&A magazines and a number of books in his home. She knew that he was still interested and studying The Truth. She now knows that he will be with her in the New World. I didn't have the heart to tell her the real Truth....

Whether I find Lee here or not has no longer become my goal. From reading this site, I am gaining greater insight into myself and why I am the way I am. Fiercely independant and shy away from anyone who trys to control me in any way. Why I have ZERO fear of death. That others, too, where silently going through the same things I was and they, too, became self destructive. Why I was so wild when I walked away. I am sure I will discover other things about me. I am now here for me.

I am amazed when I read threads here at the power the JWs hold over people. How hard it is for them to walk away. I struggled with some it, too. The guilt was my biggest trip. But, it seemed easier for me than others. I guess it is because I saw 1975 come and go and NOTHING happened. I had walked away 1 year prior but I still believed. I was tired of the control. I knew I was not going to survive Armageddon. I made a concious decision to die. I decided that Paradise Earth under the control of this mean, hateful G-d was not where I wanted to spend eternity. It sounded like a horrible place. So, as the fall of 1975 approched, I was ready - and then, big fat NOTHING! LOL Wow, truthfully, it took me a couple of years to really open my eyes and realise that is was all a farse.

I just shake my head at people who join this cult after all the false prophocies. Afterall, I was born into it and was brainwashed from birth, perhaps while still in the womb. I remember my mom being pregnant with my little brothers and she would read the W&A to them...... I am amazed at how the JWs spin and twist their history and how people get sucked into it - go figure!

Thank you, all. This is an amazing place. You all seem to be so tolerant of each other and the vast beliefs we have all formed since leaving.

Nah - can't ask him. He died in April - going through his stuff I found writings of his telling about his sexual abuse as a small boy - I know he was active somewhere, and was hoping to find more info.

Heck, just because I look elsewhere - I am not going anywhere - LOL - are you all a cult or something!!!? ROFL!
