  elders would like a talk with me

  hi everyone.. i recently had a phone call from an elder of my former cong.

  they would like to chat with me, and obviously want to encourage me to come back.. to make a long story short: the last 4 or five years i was a jw in their kh, i was more or less completly ignored.

  had in that time no phone calls, visits or any interest how i felt etc.

  yeah, what leavingwt said. i personally have a zero contact policy, meaning if they call, come to the door, or whatever, i ignore and do not answer....ever.

  i also reverse shun in stores, and pretend that i never see them.

  now, of course, they can still df me, cause they can do whatever they want, even though i have not broken any jw rules. however you increase that chance if you acknowledge any type of authority they try to have over you.

  and they have zero. you give them the authority they desire by playing by their rules.

  the latest seems to be now that what johnny is "going through" right now cant be talked about. "Mary" was on the latest call and when asked about an update on "Johnny" she said she was not "privy" to talk about it.

  it may have taken me longer than many of you because I wanted to wait it out, but I have come to the conclusion that this whole Johnny thing is BS.

  combine this now sudden secrecy with the fact that people who are skeptical are talked about in a negitive light and that adds up to BS.

  took me long enough, I guess. LOL!

  A Concerned Elder Speaks

  a lot of talk has centered around information dispensed at the recent km schools.

  many brothers feel there is a "tightening up" taking place.

  i had a recent experience that you may find interesting.. after the meeting i was working with our cobe on some congregation tasks when out of nowhere he said, "have you looked up any extra information about higher education since the km school?

  From what Franklin has posted it seemed like they are telling the elders at km school that any college is not allowed. Are they becoming more extreme? I thought the latest was no 4 year university, or living on campus, etc. But now it seems like its any college, even making people fearful of taking extra classes.

  the watchtower is not run by smart men. they are in desperate need of elders, and they are so unreasonable that they are even pushing away faithful people who actually like being JW's who follow all the rules.

  did anyone see his debate with Bart Erhman? Erhman was absolutely epic. WLC tried to claim that he had a scientific formula to prove empirically that Jesus was resurrected. I dont know if I have ever seen Erhman so animated, its really an entertaining watch. I saw it on youtube. WLC reminds me of a car salesman.

  Celebrating birthday: ground for disfellowshipping?

  a friend of mine (inactive) is being threatened with a judicial committee because he took his children to schoolmates' birthdays and because he celebrated his wife's birthday.. do you know if celebrating birthday is sufficient ground for setting a judicial committee?.

  the ks2010 does not mention birthdays specifically, and i feel like it would be quite a stretch to make it fall under the "apostasy" category (subcategory "celebrating false religion holidays" or "idolatry").. what do you think?.

  i may be wrong, but i believe there was a member here that went by the name "sherpard" who was DF'd for celebrating his childs birthday. He recorded the entire conversation with the elders and put it on youtube i think. i think the youtube id is "circutoverseer" or something like that.

  elders can DF you for anything they want.

  I am listening to the segment and a couple things have struck me:
  
  1. He mentions the posts (i assume from this forum) about people who commented on Mary. Now he says people said that they were having an inappropriate sexual relationship, however I am not aware of any posts like that. The only posts I recall are people speculating that Mary had the hots for Johnny, which i personally feel was a valid observation.
  
  2. He also mentions posts that people think he is a "plant" from Bethel. He claims that Rick can vouch for him that he contacted Rick as soon as the elders asked him to do this stuff and he has been talking to Rick "a while" asking him how he can get out. Can Rick confirm he has talked to Johnny "a while" before the first conference call? Also, Its been a while since I have listened to the first call, but did anyone get the impression that Rick already knew about Johnny when he first came on? I thought he was just as surprised as everyone and even delayed his show so Johnny could talk. Am I remembering that correctly?

  3. Towards the end of the call, he sounds like he is either drunk, or falling asleep. he is barely coherant, which seemed to have happen the last time.
