for me the most alarming thing is how they are outright demonizing good loyal jw kids who play video games or use smart phones, etc. they are trying to divide the flock and get rid of anyone but the zealots. it used to be they would demonize the world and worldy kids for things like stealing, drugs, imorality, etc. but now they are demonizing their own children, what the bible refers to as the little ones for things that are normal like playing video games, going to college, working full time, relaxing, wearing shirts that are untucked, having skateboards, having cell phones. whats next? a series of articles controlling what they eat? this religion has always been a high control religion, but its just a shame to see it deterorate into a full blown cult.

i have one guy that i do like, as crazy as he is, whatever new name JCanon is under. what he writes brings me to tears of laughter. The whole black, homosexual, transvestite, Diana Ross drag queen, Messiah thing is the greatest. plus add in a dumpster and you have an all time classic.

The belief-system of JWs is, to my way of thinking now that I know better, a fantasy faith, one we were all caught up in, even those at the top. There's plenty of negatives we can talk about in the WT organization. But it's just like all the other religions - they are made up of mostly very sincere people with all the usual assets and deficits.
Barbara, I agreed with you on this for a long time, that was until recently with the fact that as far as I understand all of those GB members have passed away. Right now it is being run by GB 2.0. And when I read the watchtower, and listen to for example the past 2 or 3 convention drama's, I hear and read propaganda from very skilled propagandists. Whoever writes those dramas, and some of the study articles are skilled in propaganda techniques. I dont see how this current group doesnt know what they are doing, or if its not them, whoever is truly running things.
I'd love to get your viewpoint on that.

i just listened, the first one i think is a flub, a non issue. but the other one, it does sound like he says borg. so i'll vote for borg on that one. is the guy reading it an undercover apostate or something? i mean, that sounded on purpose to me.

wow! just this small sample size shows how people being inactive is a problem in the organization. i too am an inactive fader. although if i were df'd it would change nothing as i was able to get my friends and family out.
i really think that they are going to crack down further on inactives. its their biggest loop hole. we'll see.

add this to nazi style check points, both dui check points, and random tsa check points on high ways, etc. i used to think those who claimed the USA was becoming a police state, and thought that was crazy talk by loons like alex jones. while i still think alex jones is a loon, the fact is, the USA is becoming a police state. the behavior of police and the appaling legislation being passed is just shocking to me. on a daily basis i am embarassed to be an american.

What's the strangest thing you've heard someone seek counsel with the elders about?
by keyser soze inpersonally, i never went to the elders with anything(not voluntarily, anyway).
but a friend of mine once asked a couple of elders whether it would be acceptable for him and his wife to make a sex tape, for their own personal viewing.
needless to say, the idea was frowned upon..

thats funny about jerking off. i knew a couple sisters who in a car group on different occasions made it clear that if they found out their husbands masterbated they would leave them for cheating. LOLOL!! I just laughed to myself. they were so ignorant. and the likelyhood was their husbands were doing it, as thats what people do. classic idiots.

imo, there is a huge difference between an atheist/agnostic stating that he doesnt know or cant prove with 100% certainity there is no god, and that meaning that god is the christian god of the bible.
one of the things that i liked about Richard Dawkins is his honest and frankly wise admission that he doesnt know for a certainity if there is a god or not. now, some christians have taken that comment and run with it. but when you read what dawkins said in context, he says that also he cannot disprove there being a teapot flying around in space.
now, i dont fall into the atheist catagory, i guess i would consider myself agnoistic, of course everyone has their own definition of what that means. i believe that god very well may exist, however if he does he sure as hell is not the god of the bible.
in my research one of the things that made me realize that christianity wasent for me was just like JW's, when it comes to debates and discussions about evolution, or bible problems, the vast majority of christian apologists use dishonest debate tactics as well as logical fallacies. once i learned about logical fallacies and started to apply them to what read and the debates i watch, that is one of the things that struck me. also many of them outright refuse to even learn what evolution is and how it works.
imo, if your position requires that the only way to defend it is to use those kind of tactics, that should tell you something.
so while i agree with the majority of the stuff dawkins says about religion, and accept evolution as a fact, i at this point cannot dismiss the possibility of some kind of intellgence/force/god behind the whole thing.
i feel like since humans have worshipped dietys for amost their entire existance there are 1 of 2 things going on. 1. their is a god, and all the holy books, writings, religions, etc are mans way of documenting and showing their belief in god. and just like humans, there is good and bad in all of that. or 2. our minds have evolved with something in it that gives us a desire to worship god, and perhaps if there is not a god, whatever that is, in our brain is a defense/survival thing.
and the bottom line is that we are going to find out when we die.
