So, Whats the real reason JWs are no concessions open at the DC and are discouraged from supporting nearby vendors?

so ever since they discontinues the food service at the assemblies and dcs, jws have been "lovingly encouraged" to pack a light lunch to eat.

the secretary at the hall that i am held hostage in said during the service meeting that even a sub would be too heavy to eat, and that a light salad was the best option.

what do you fine people think is the real reason why, in the absence of food service, jws are told to not leave the building at lunch?

wow, now they even tell you WHAT to eat? LOL!!!!!! I remember in 2006 which was my last one they made a huge deal about not buying anything from any of the stores around, after the session as well! (we were in philly in a major buisness district) and it was crazy because I needed advil and coffee, and felt like "who the hell are they to tell me i cant buy something i need when im on my own time!" I was happy to see people didnt listen and JW's were all over starbucks, etc.

The day is SOOOO friggin long, you need a solid lunch if you are going to survive, now they tell you not to eat that much? WTF!!!

I joked a while back that its now a matter of time before they control what you eat, and bang, here you go! amazing!

i remember this drama, it really struck me that they acted like JW's who played video games were evil. and also how moving out of your house to live with another JW was bad, and that getting a job outside of the family buisness was bad. and the thing that was really insane was when the child left the house, the mother lamented that this was like "death!". He was NOT DF'd!! He simply got a JOB, and moved in with a brother!!!! My jaw dropped as this was so over the top insane that this is simply not the same religion i was a part of. they have gone way over the deep end. and i do wonder if they are going to have a jim jones moment as some point.

Life after DF/divorce

i am just wondering how many here have gone through the experience of being disfellowshipped and divorced?

i am currently in that situation and sometimes i am afraid of what to expect.

thankfully i have a good core of friends, but nonetheless i still find myself somewhat nervous of what to expect in my new life.

im 36 and just went through the divorce part. everyone is different, so what i am experiencing is just my point of view. honestly, i am having a great time, the freedom to be able to date who you want, when and how you want it amazing. and the cult past at least for me has been a positive with women. i suggest dating alot, it will help you to widen out, learn about yourself, what you like and dont like, etc. it gets WAY better, and the way i view it is that we are lucky to be free and be able to live how we want.

have you guys seen the meme on facebook going around about "tim tebow vs jason collins" comparing tebow "bashed for professing christ" and collins "praised for homosexuality" and then at the bottom the scripture isaiah 50:20: woe to those who call evil good and good evil?

i have had a couple friends of mine post that on their wall and it showed up on my wall.

i don't care what they believe however it just bothers me that they didn't think that i would find it offensive.

this whole video is of course insane, and a new level of crazy. whats next, i mean seriously, the next logical step is that they are going to start holding JW's responsible for the sins of the fictional characters in their entertainment.

but where this video becomes even more insane is at the 50:08 mark where not only is this couple being held responsible and likely going to be DF'd for the sins of fictional characters that DO NOT FRIGGIN EXIST, but they will also be held accountable for fictional sins that the one elder made up because he didnt understand or cant read to well what was going on.

so not only are they being held responsible for FICTIONAL SINS, BUT MADE UP FICTIONAL SINS. Do you get that? Made up fictional sins! LOLOLOLOL!!

my head is spinning!!! ROFL!!

now, as funny as this is, this is actually not funny at all, because these sick and twisted evil men are likely going to cause a tremendous ammount of suffering with the disipline they hand down.

these people must be stopped and hopefully more people record their meetings and expose just how insane this all is.

nothing suprises me about elders, but this is a new height of crazy that i could not of come up with in my wildess dreams. WOW

Is forensic evidence a "witness" for chid abuse cases?

i have read that forensic evidence can be counted as one of the two required "witnesses" for child abuse cases, however have not seen anything in writing to support this.

the wikipedia article at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/jehovah's_witnesses'_handling_of_child_sex_abuse states:.

dna evidence, medical reports, or information from forensic experts or police that proves sexual abuse is also accepted as a valid "second witness", however critics argue that, without mandatory reporting for all accusations of abuse regardless of the local laws, such evidence could remain undetected.. .

the only JW source i have ever read make that statement is thirdwitness. i have never seen it in any publication. and as usual, its likely thirdwitness is making it up. jw's make up their own policies when they debate this issue as well as the UN, but as far as watchtower, this is not in print at least to my knowledge.

i met a couple i used to know many years ago (probably 20) in a local "big box" store.

i knew they looked familiar and since they were dressed up and it was saturday "mid day" i put two and two and two and came up with 666... they were jw's.

i didn't say anything to them just minded my business picking up supplies when the woman came over to me and started asking me if she new me from work or some company.

Witnesses at the door Sunday

i finally got jws at the door sunday.

i ran into mormons 3 times last month and was wondering why jws weren't around anymore.. at one point when she was talking about the preaching work, i told her about that.

i saw mormons 3 times last month, 4 in the past couple of years, but i hadn't seen one of them in about 3 years and i'm home most saturday and sunday mornings.

i was informed by a witness that there was a "wonderful talk" at the sad this week.

it was about a clear conscience as opposed to a clean conscience.

a clear conscience is no proof of god's approval because one my not feel condemned by thier actions due to a faulty perspective.
