post - df experience
by Solace1998 init was a shock to many when i was df'ed -- .
but i found afterwards, many did not want to obey the arrangement... one sister cornered me at a local supermarket, and made sure everything was okay with me, and if i ever needed someone to talk to, that she and her hubby were available... .
there is more to this, but another sister i worked with was quite ardent about talking to me about much more than just work .

can a disfellowshipped person get rides to the meeting?
by Solace1998 inwell apparently i couldnt.
in the first cong i was in, up north in ny, i got rides just fine for a while -- but shortly after i moved to my old cong south of there... .
i called up and let them know that i didnt have enough money to pay for gas to get to the meetings, and was wondering if we could work something out... .

i personally like his videos. the guy is going out and doing something. he also represents the average one time elder, he dresses and looks like your local elder. the only difference is he learned the truth and is helping people to wake up. i used to not like what rick did, but the more i watch his stuff and listen to the conference call its clear to me that he is helping people wake up.

Is It A Struggle NOT To Get DF'd These Days?
by StAnn inseems like when i was young (back when that dinosaur in the green nwt was still roaming the earth), df'd people were rare.
a jw friend of ours was telling my husband (never a jw) that it's almost impossible not to get df'd.
my husband thought that was absurd until he started reading things on this board that folks have been df'd over.

Rick, do you think by now they have your name written down? I respect that you choose to be honest and upfront when you give your name, but when dealing with people who have no problem lying (theocratic warfare) i wonder if you would get farther if you didnt tell them your name? also, i would think they also may be able to recognize your number. anyway, keep up the good work.

The Day After the Grand Boasting Session
by WTWizard inso you got through the grand boasting session somehow.
the one-towel rules, the endless quiet and keep moving signs, the snorefest, and the endless prayer are finally behind us.
usually, if there are children involved, life after becomes unbearable after a grand boasting session.

Satan is certainly a wiley devil! He came in the guise of Square Dancing!
by Lady Zombie inrecently a few threads have remarked upon how restrictive the jws have become in the last decade or so in terms of activities and the amount of freedom alloted to individuals.. well, i can ballpark estimate when it started in my area.
it was the mid to late 80's.
throughout most of the 80's, my congregation frequently had potlucks and days at the park when all the local congregations would gather for fellowship.. there was a lot of laughs, lots of grilling, and easy interactions with other jws.

Do JWs miss having large parties, pot-lucks, etc?
by navytownroger inas has been stated before, large congregational get-togethers, cook-outs, baseball games, etc are now greatly discouraged by the society.
back in the 80s in san diego we had parties, night-time beach bonfires, pool parties and frequent restaurant meals with 10+ people.
do current jws seem to miss these sorts of social activities??

yeah donny, they still can, but "a true Christian would wey the consequences very seriously" and "some upstanding Christians choose not to drink at all, they feel that they would not want their service to Jehovah to be hindered in any way as to not risk being destroyed at Armageddon" PS, to the people at Bethel that monitor this site: You aint the only ones that can write slick bull shit!

christian arrogance is a turn off regardless of demoniation. with that said, i believe so maybe im a nut job. lol. i used to mock people when i would read their stories about the day they prayed to Jesus and then felt him come into their life. i did it just to prove they were crazy, and then i felt the same thing they did. so i guess im just as crazy. im just being honest, and i have no problem if someone tells me its my imaginations. i used to say the same thing. i just wish both sides of the argument would not get arrogant about it.
i think there are valid arguments that skeptics make in regards to Jesus, but there are some that dont seem to be true. For instance the whole "Christians got Jesus from pagan Gods", I just have not found that to be true. For instance many of the claims in movies like Zeitgeist are refuted and even mocked by fellow skeptics. if anyone has some legit info on it, i'll gladly consider it. but if you are going to tell me Horus and Krishna, that has been proven to be incorrect and borderline intellectually dishonest.
