How did God do it?
by nicolaou inevolutionists are always called on to explain how a complicated organ like an eye could have come about "by chance" - as if any scientist ever claimed that's what happened.
but there are shelves of books in your library that will explain the process of natural selection, some are written so simply that a child can grasp the basic concept.
you don't have to accept it but at least an explanation is offered.

i have been researching the whole IT vs Evolution thing, as well as alot of Christian VS Atheists debates, and what i have found is that for the most part everyone on both sides is very disrespectful to each other. the Christians say stuff like Hitler was an Atheist, and then the Atheist will say that the prisons are filled with Christians. Then alot of mocking and disrespect. And also each side talks in absolutes. When it comes down to it, no one can claim to know for sure the truth, and it seems to take just as much faith in the unexplainable to believe either one. so why cant we just be respectful and instead of telling each other how wrong we are, why cant we both walk down the path to truth together and try to figure this all out. also, one final note, if Christians could come off this ridiculous "inerrant" argument, that is not even Scriptural, they will be taken more seriously. You cant tell a scientist that the devil planted fossils to trick us, or that the earth is 6 or 7,000 years old. You mine as well claim the sky is red.

Was there ever a thread on the circuit assembly in 07 about the Do's talk?
by IreallydidwalkoutofaKH inthe last assembly i attended was in 07. the do spoke about pushing and shoving and forcing the children to become bapticed!
i really was actually concerned not mad or angry but just concerned.
i think that was when i realized you have to either move on or become a part of the congregation and do your best to salvage whatever good there is in the congregations.

i dont even know if its about getting the young ones in as much as it is getting control of them. if they mess up, they get DF, and no one can talk to them. Kids who dont get baptized are threats since people can talk to them so if they go apostate, they are a big time threat since they cant get DF.

I always felt like there was something missing at the memorial. This was the first year we did it on our own and partook. I am no problem that many people on here dont believe, I respect your opinion, but if you are going to claim to believe like the witnesses do, at least do it the right way. Im mean, wow, the last memorial talked about the anointed and why not to partake and then meetings for more than half of it.

Holy Moses! PBS documentary suggests Exodus not real
by ICBehindtheCurtain inthis will be very interesting, i only wish it would make the rounds on the jw emails the same way "knocking" did, fat chance!
we can only hope that pbs and nova will jump on this bandwagon as well, sooner than later.
holy moses!

Im going to watch it and research their claims. Hopefully its more honest than Zeitgiest. There are plenty of problems and questions about the Bible, there is no need to be dishonest about it.

by StoneWall inhands down my all-time favorite was the flintstones.
it's just so hard for me to compare anything else to its humor, cleanliness, appeal to young as well as older ones at the time.. .
no matter how bad a mood i would be in after school i could always count on fred and barney to screw something up to make me feel better lol.

really no matter what the show or movie was, once the elders found out people enjoyed it, they would find something wrong with it and then either have a local needs to meet with people and tell them not to watch it. I remember the little mermaid was pretty much banned because "it taught rebellion" since ariel disobeyed he father and went up to the surface. i have said it before, its not about the content of entertainment, its about control.

the video is the first part of Zeitgiest. Much of the stuff about Jesus is based on a book called "Christ Conspiracy". That book was mocked and torn apart by respected Atheists and Christian Apologists on both sides. When people called her out on youtube to provide proof of her claims she said that the Christians destroyed all the proof, and also the proof she saw was in a different language and insinuated that only she can understand it. I could not stop laughing at that. The pagan Gods that really do have similarities to Jesus are not even mentioned in the video or book.
The first part of Zeitgiest is one of the poorest most intellectually dishonest things I have ever seen. Even respected people who are skeptics, critics, and atheists have viewed it that way. There is plenty of stuff out there that brings up the legit debate of the Bible, Jesus and Christianity, there is not need to revert to dishonesty and propaganda. That hurts everyone. -

Is There ANYTHING More Monotonous Than Living As A JW?
by minimus ini look back and think of how mindless, boring and dumb it all was.
.
i think of having to sit at mind numbing meetings, bored to tears, making believe i was enjoying the fine spiritual banquet.. i think of how we used to drive around in "service" looking for nothing to do----just so that we could put our time in---hoping that no one was home.. everyone had to conform to direction and whims of elders or the society.. i am soooooooooo glad i'm out!.

i used to find some meetings interesting like 15-20 years ago, but that mainly depended on the speaker. the congregation i was in had alot of good speakers and teachers. but i have not heard anything even remotely stimulation for years. in fact the watchtower study has deteriorated into what is nothing more than an indoctrination session.

post - df experience
by Solace1998 init was a shock to many when i was df'ed -- .
but i found afterwards, many did not want to obey the arrangement... one sister cornered me at a local supermarket, and made sure everything was okay with me, and if i ever needed someone to talk to, that she and her hubby were available... .
there is more to this, but another sister i worked with was quite ardent about talking to me about much more than just work .

in the 1st century people who were unrepentant wrong doers were still encouraged at what we would consider meetings now. the only people who were to be completly shunned were anti christs like the gnostics. its funny, now when i read those scriptures its so obviously i cant believe i didnt see that when i was a dub.
