yeah totally obsessed here, there is so much too it that i find so facinating. i mean, you have the docterines, then you have the mind control aspect. i just cant get enough. i really have been reading alot of the topix message board, there are jw's over there and to watch them defend child molesters and teachings that are just clearly and factually wrong is something that facinates me to no end. i mean, mind control is so powerful that it causes people to DEFEND friggin child molesters. CHILD MOLESTERS! wow.

Did you ever go through a period of obsession with all things WT related upon your awakening?
by miseryloveselders inwhen i was a firm believer that the wts was god's chosen organization, i didn't really research too much.
never gave much thought to other opinions.
if the insight book said so, than it was factual.

Question about private reproof and weddings
by JerkhovahsWitless ini've posted before about someone i'm friends with who was going to go to the elders with his girlfriend about some things they've been doing.
well, they got young and very liberal elders who weren't by the book.
the experience didn't end up being quite as bad as i prepared him for and they both only got private reproof.

i would say that in my experience people who arent even baptized have not been allowed to be in weddings, so in my area, private reproof has no chance.
also however in my area having a wedding outside of the kingdom hall is totally unacceptable.
one of the reasons i stepped down as an MS was because they told me that if I did not have my wedding inside the kingdom hall they would remove me as an MS.
so i figured i would save them the trouble and just stepped the fuck down.
good luck to your friend he is in a no win situation.

The Governing Body and the Sept 15, 2010 WT
by Ultimate Reality inthere have been a few threads on this magazine already.
but i cannot recall a wt that has so many references to the gb and its authority throughout the articles as this one.
the grip of authority and control is tightening.

stuff like this is what woke me up. i remember my WTF moment clear as day in 2007 at the convention when during the talk "follow the lamb no matter where he goes" the brother on the mic said "we should trust the faithful slave because Jehovah and Jesus trust the faithful slave". I was like WTF did he just say? JEHOVAH TRUSTS THE SLAVE? A group of MEN?!?! The highest being in the universe puts his TRUST in IMPERFECT MEN?!?!?!?!?!
from that day forward it was the end of the line.
so this stuff which is like 10 times worse in the sept 15th WT will wake some people up. but not most, most wont even be paying attention and instead of thinking about the governing body they will be wondering where they are going to eat after the meeting.

Throw out "doctrine" - Did the lack of true Christian Love drive you out of the WT?
by lepermessiah inanother argument i have used lately with my family is that even if the wt was correct on every doctrinal point (which obviously they are not) the biggest thing that drove me away was the lack of true compassion and "christian" love from the majority of the congregation, especially the elders.. i have been bringing up doctrinal points in small doses, but the biggest scriptures i use against them is john 13:35 (my disciples if you have love among yourselves) and 1 corinthians 13 (pauls description of love).. i love the irony, since the wt uses john 13:35 to "show" they are a true brotherhood, and they are using 1 cor 13 (love never fails) as their year text!
the wt's version of love makes me want to vomit.
i like how ray franz described it in his book - the wt produces people with generally good morals and an outward appearance of warmth, but underneath they typically lack compassion toward others.

i put up with years and years and years of brutality, and would have stayed in there forever if it was true. but once i found out that the watchtower was lying and the docterine was false, thats when i left.

DVD "JW's Faith In Action, part 1 Out of Darkness" Omits! Omits! Omits!
by Wasanelder Once ini've been watching the new dvd and it is a bull fest about russell.
i haven't even gotten half way and they already excluded one very important bit of information.
you'll recall that russell "lost" his faith and "turning away from church creeds and searching for truth, russell examined some leading oriental religions, only to find these unsatisfying".

Looks like Martin, the Jesuit priest is using good old watchtower tactics. Insult the people who dont join organized religion, call them selfish and other insults. And while I dont believe in this article Martin used the "Lone Ranger" label, it is usually a negitive label put upon people who dont go to an organized church.
There is nothing in the Bible that states that you must join a church, the 1st century christians met in small groups.
One of the great things about waking up from the watchtower is to see how the watchtower twists things around in their magazine. Those same tactics can be used with other groups. For example, you take one of these "you must go to church" people, and ask them what is required for salvation? They usually respond putting faith in Jesus. Then when I point out that going to church is not required for salvation, they hem and haw like the watchtower and spin around in circles to try to say that while you dont have to go to church for salvation, you kind of do, but you dont, but you kind of do, etc. LOL
