I had a feeling they would crack down on sports, not that I have any insight, I had this feeling for the simple fact that sports was one of the only things JW's can watch. LOL. and you know the WT cant have that. The watchtower must condemn every possible form of entertainment a JW can possibly watch. if I was still in, I would have rebelled violently to this. I watch almost every NFL prime time game, and watch the redzone channel all day on Sunday, and I watch sports every night. It was, as I said, the one thing I did as a JW. It was my one sanctuary from the JW madness. If I didnt already wake up a few years ago, this would have done it, and done it fast. They are sick and drunk with power and they are just shooting themselves in the foot. Morale is not only at an all time low, but they are making it worse and worse, and are making this religion unbearable for the majority of JW's.

It appears that I am being hunted down (visited by two elders)
by maninthemiddle inrecently two elders caught my wife at the door while i was away.
they mentioned the need to talk to me about something on facebook.
yes, i know how facebook can be, but i choose to use it anyway.. the strange thing is, i just spent a alot of time looking at it, and nothing is publicly available, so unless a one spouse of an inactive jw is looking at it, i don't see how they were able to get this information.. anyway, that wasn't my real question.. i haven't been to any kh in over 2 years, i haven't seen the elder (24 year old) in about two years and don't even know the other (he is recently out of bethel, but older 50ish?)..

Id like to add something, there is a good chance (of course it all depends on the elders) that if you ignore EVERY single attempt, either door or phone, they make to contact you, they may eventually leave you alone. Imo, the main thing you do not want to do, is acknowledge any type of authority they may think they have over you.

Recent C.O. visit: Bad news re: U.S. English meeting attendance
by Open mind invisiting a nearby town during his thursday night service talk mentioned how poor meeting attendance is in the english-speaking u.s. congregations.
he said that when the gb reduced the weekly meetings from 3 to 2, there was a brief surge in meeting attendance percentages.
after a few months it began to slide and it hasn't stopped sliding.

I remember hearing that if you regularly miss a meeting, you should not call yourself a Jehovah's witness. these people are getting more insane by the day.

Too fat for the kingdom of God !
by koolaid-man informer jehovah's witness servant dick borghi along with elders in the lowell, ma.
congregation were asked by the circuit overseer to vote on whether to disfellowship overweight brothers and sisters.. this was very troubling to dick for two reasons.. 1... brother borghi thought it would be the responsibility of the faithfull and discrete slave to lay out a precise directive on the basis for this unusual request.
what criteria would have to be met to make such an awkward decision?.

is this a repeat? i remember this story on the call before. oh well, better repeat subjects than anti gay ones, or ones where you are trying to pass off a picture of a JW, when it is in fact the mayor of buffalo, LOL

Atheists are as trustworthy as rapists
by rebel8 inso say the xian participants in studies described in a recently published article in a professional journal.. abstract.
distrust of atheists generalized even to participants from more liberal, secular populations.
a description of a criminally untrustworthy individual was seen as comparably representative of atheists and rapists but not representative of christians, muslims, jewish people, feminists, or homosexuals.

being "religious" means absolutly nothing to me. while i love bill maher, i dont look down on people who are religious, but the idea that being religious somehow makes it less likely for you to commit hanus acts is a flat out myth. you could even make the argument that a person who boasts of being a fundy xian, is someone i would look at more closely because many times the fundy xians are hiding a dark secret.

FADERS YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED - BELIEVE IT OR NOT!.
by mankkeli into onthewayout, 00dad, cedars and other reknowned faders.
reports have reached patterson that faders are much more dangerous than those disfellowshipped.
their reasons for fading are no longer new to the gb.
-
yourmomma
while its obvious the society is cracking down on faders because they are a huge threat, what you said here:
"Even if you think you can fade on health reasons, In future, medical reports MUST be provided to the service committee, and while at home you MUST be connected by telephone which would be arranged and constantly monitored by the sound overseer to ensure that you fully benefit from spiritual provisions."
is 10000% complete and utter bullshit.
in addition, what the watchtower has to decide is to keep things as they are, which is a threat to them, or purge faders and put a hurt on the numbers which they point to as Jehovah's blessing. and that is some sweet irony.
we love that the GB are in this situation, and we find it humerous to see them print insane articles in the study edition to try in vain to crack down in their members. its not working.

I remember I had a big argument with my x-fiance who lived in the city (i was in the burbs) because I was stating that it was against the "societys policy" to re-instate someone within a few weeks of being DFd. Apparantly there was an 18 year old MS (they appointed them young in the city) who was DF'd, and then offered re-instatement weeks later. He declined and went off the deep end, but the fact that he was offered it, and didnt approach the elders was also a vilolation. My x defended everything about it, but thats not really the point now, since its all BS. So I guess I would answer, a few weeks, but the DF'd person didnt accept the offer. I think either the elders made a mistake and were trying to make up for it, or someone with power liked this young man and wanted to reinstate him quickly.

Returning to God - For those with minds of Reason
by mankkeli inthis was taken from a watchtower study article and without doubt, i am definitely sure it will be beneficial for the majority here: now take your spoon and approach the table, the food is ready.. .
returning to god.
13 those who see themselves in the position of the prodigal son, however, need not remain in this wretched state.

Doctrine or HIgh Mind Control as the Last Straw
by Band on the Run ini am curious as to whether the final gut deciding factor to leave was inappropriate doctrine or the overly intrusive control of the wt.
reading the bible normally opened my eyes.
i was born-in and never suspected that they were skewing the bible in such a ridiculous manner or misquoting secular sources.

my awakening was due to the lack of docterine in the watchtower and during meetings because i enjoyed stuff like the revelation book. (i say enjoyed past tense, as now i realize that book is as much of a work of fiction as the 3 little pigs) all they talked about was entertainment, not working too much, pioneering, entertainment, alcohol in moderation, entertainment, pioneering, etc. then there just went hard on the whole "you are not doing enough", even going as far as at a convention demonstration putting on this part where i young man was talking to himself, and in a nut shell, he made all the meetings, went out in service every saturday and sunday, was on the school, did the mics, did literature, led a clean life, yet it was not nearly enough, plus he had a big problem. you know what that problem was? he liked to watch an hour of tv on his new dvr before bed after a long day of theocratic activity, and he was working full time and not pioneering. that was of course wrong. that demonstation had my mouth on the floor, and it was shortly after that, the phrase that rung my bell was stated. it was at the next years convention, i believe in 2007, when they said "Why should be trust the faithful slave? Because Jehovah and Jesus trust the faithful slave!"
I near fell out of my seat, you mean to tell me, God, the most powerful being in the universe and his son, the 2nd most powerful being in the universe put THEIR TRUST in MEN?!?! MEN?!??!! WTMF?!?!?
LOL
I drove home, and i could sense there was something very wrong with this religion, but I couldnt put my finger on it. Then I went on google, and boom, its a cult, thats whats wrong with this religion. HAHA!
But this brings up something, it seems like the watchtower is putting docterine in the back seat for more control. All the watchtower study editions are about is control, control over every decision you make, down from if you go to the bathroom during the meeting, and that even had a picture. LOL
I was a loyal JW, but it just got to the point where I started to smell something rotten, and more and more people are waking up because of the tactics they are using, and I have to wonder if that new watchtower about the abuse victim not being christian enough because she felt sorry for herself is going to strike a cord with more people.
