I wonder this too 'cause when I got pregnant with my daughter as a teenager, and I had my JC meeting. They just publicly reproved me (not before asking me if "It felt good" in reference to sex). Can you believe that? And my mother just sat there crying while 3 grown men waited for her teenage daughter to respond to that. Sickening. Now she says, "I must have not heard that." Yeah right. Anyway, back on topic. So the next day my husband (boyfriend at the time) was just coming back in town from military leave, and when I went to go see him...guess what we did? LOL! So if they knew if I were really repentent or not, I should have been disfellowshipped. So to answer your question.

How do the elders know if you are truly repentent?
by jetery inthe reason why i ask is because whenever u are df and u are trying to get reinstated they are always tellling u that u have to produce fruits befitting repentenace like attending the meetings, etc.
they always make it seem that since they are gods spirit-directed org.
that he will know whether or not if a person is repentent.

Why does guilt often remain so long with those who've left the JWs?
by And He Ran ini would be interested in getting people's input in why so many jws - including me from time to time, though less so now - seem to be burdened by guilt after they've left, even after they've successfully faded and aren't being hassled by family or elders.
is it a residual leftover of the indoctrination over the years?
i welcome your comments.

I don't feel guilty at all. I feel free. Though it hurts because friend and family have distanced themselves, but that's what Jesus said he came here to do, so it's to be expected (Matthew 10:34).

Hi, I've introduced myself a while ago and lurk more often than not. Had to chime in on this topic.
I was a diehard Stephen King fan for many years while a teenager. I used to be afraid demons would come so I kept them in my garage at night and would read them during the day. However, after I read IT, or should I say partially read IT. I was done with Stephen King. That one scared me really bad. I'm a very visual person so the things I conjured up in my mind while reading that book freaked me out. However, I've been tempted to read him again. He's a great writer. Although I wonder what really goes on in the mind of someone who can think and write books the way he does.

The Gift of Speaking in Tongues?
by Maddie inwith the increase in evangelical churches there seems to be a lot more emphasis on the practise of "speaking in tongues".
i quite like the way these churches conduct services, with live music and great singing.
it is so different to the kh meetings and like fresh air.

I have a friend who was Chruch of the Nazarene and she would speak in tongues, but only when she was alone would it happen. She said it was the most beautiful language she had every heard and it had an Asian dialect to it. It would happen when she was praying alone. However, what threw me was now that she's converted to Chruch of Christ, she doesn't believe in speaking in tongues. And I'm like, wow you had such a wonderful gift and now you act like it was wrong. Go figure.

Try the fatsmash it was very effective for me. check out fatsmashforum.com to get information. they also have a message board. I lost 10 lbs in the 9 days and then it phases you into healthy lifetime eating. It's featured on Celebrity Fit Club. I also started working out 2 times a day, this was after the 10 lb lost and overall lost a total of 20 lbs. before I stopped working out. I felt really good. Healthy and I went from walking to jogging. Never got into running though but that's next. Good luck.

Have you come to grips with your mortality? Do Jw's ever?
by AK - Jeff inin post-jw life, it seems to me that acceptance of this basic fact of life, the reality that we will die, is a healthy thing to do.
yet, i believe that most jw's cling to a hope that armageddon will spare them death, even when they see death at the doors.
they have never prepared themselves for the reality, and when it becomes inevitable, the pain of that realization must be intense for some of them.

I am slowly but surely getting there. I used to be extremely morbid and afraid of dying. As I studied the Bible more I kind of came to peace with the fact that it is unavoidable. I wish that I didn't have to die, but I know it's an eventuality.

GetOverIt
I had a weird dream that I was parked outside my childhood KH with my 18 year old daughter. All of the sudden I see Jesus and the horses coming down from the clouds and the clouds were in countdown formation 10, 9, 8, 7, 6... at six I run back into the KH so I can say goodbye to my three youngest children (7,9,4). I grab my 4 year old just as these demon like angels enter the KH. They stab my 4 year old and then stab me in the heart, but it doesn't pierce me. As I'm laying on the floor, they lean down and look at me and say, "huh, why are you alive? You don't have the mark? And I say something like Jehovah is saving me for something...I can't remember exactly what I said. but it was freaky.
I began to have so many dreams taht I started writing them down. I'll post the rest another day. I'm too lazy to get up and get my book.
