What keeps most members in the ''spiritual netting'' of the WTS?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inbirds or any other animal can be caught with a net.
they don't have the wisdom to see what's coming.. what does the wts use that is so powerful that most members can't seem to escape?

I was in D.C. several years back. I went to the Holocast museum. I would recommend everyone go there. It is very sad but enlightening. In the end it doesn't matter how many JW's died versus Jews versus homosexuals..once you go there what matters is how many human lives were lost senselessly. How many were imprisoned, worked to death and even tortured. It is hard to believe such a thing happenned less than 100 years ago.

A rude reminder...buying a car
by Gregor inwe have been considering a new auto.
we have one with 125,000 mi and one with 145,000. they are both doing fine but i must admit i have been tempted by the deep discounts and rebates on new models.
so i take my car to the dealer.

Shop at "Go Auto" the former John Elway dealerships. I bought my car there and was very happy with the process....however; at least in Denver; do not use their auto shops--they are the ones (the auto shop) that rip you off. But the dealership itself is great. One price and not so pushy sales people.

One More Reason Not to Book Hotel on WT List
by WTWizard inalthough i don't know this as a fact, i suspect that the wts is negotiating some pretty lucrative rebates from these hotels (which of course the rank and file jw pays) because they can guarantee a full house at $xxx per night.
this came from last year's thread about the rooming department km insert, and will almost certainly apply this year.
but, when the watchtower society negotiates with hotels, they are not having difficulties negotiating just for the price that you, the attendee, pay.

Here is some input from a hotellier. Do not book on Priceline or any Internet channel. They add their own fees on top of the room charge by the hotel. If a hotel is willing to give priceline a room for $39 they add at least $10 and you pay $49. And..usually the priceline and internet channel room reservations are put in less desirable rooms. Call the hotel direct. A lot of times you will need to talk to Sales or a Manager as desk clerks can be clueless. Usually you get the best deal that way. If they will sell a room to priceline for $39 the hotel will most likely give you a similar deal without the Internet channels fees on tops. In addition if you have a problem at the hotel..the hotel cannot refund you directly, you have to go throught he third party. It can be a mess and a lot more opportunity for reservation mess ups. DON'T BOOK THROUGH INTERNET CHANNELS! :)
As far as the Society getting the comp rooms...no big deal. That is an industry standard. It is a given that if a group books a large amount of rooms they always get a certain number of comps. Rebates are also common and it comes out of the hotels pocket. I do believe it happens.
