  some registered nurses are jehovah's witnesses.

  how do they handle it when a doctor orders a blood transfusion on their patient?.

  I am a nurse and was one for the last few years as a witness.

  The issue of a blood transfusion was never a problem for me as I always thought that I was not the one taking the blood or hadn't prescribed it. The patients I looked after had a right to their decision as much as I had and I was just carrying out another form of treatment.

  Even now though I have not been going for 8 years or so I still don't know whether I could accept a transfusion or not, Whether that is my squeamishness or because it has been ingrained so deeply or not am not sure.

  Anyone else have these thoughts?

  Help Me Please !!!!!!!!

  i need some support and advice with my situation and hope you don't mind me going on a bit because i feel wretched!

  i hurt so much with my jw family relationship and find it so frustrating that whatever i do or say doesn't make any difference.. my son and wife had a little girl 9 months ago, my first and only grand child and i love her so much.

  when she was born my hubby and i helped them a lot wiith buying all the expensive things she needed, as my son hadn't a well paying job as being a die hard jw he believes in the "education and career isn't what you should be doing propaganda" put out buy the wt.

  You poor thing my heart really goes out to you, to not see my beautiful grandaughter would break my heart so can imagine what you are going through.

  Perhaps you could write him a letter adressed personally to him but get someone else to write on the address so neither of them can reconise our writing. he will have opened it and then realise it was from you without her getting to it first.

  Then pour out your heart o him re the way you feel. Back off with all the untruths you have discovered for the moment let sleeping dogs lie for a while just concentrate on rebuilding bridges with him after all a mothers love is not easily dismissed.

  was wondering if there are any former/current elders daughter that are on the board.. share your experinces or stories about being one.. what did you "catch" elders daughters doing wrong.. yes i am one and be honest with us..

  Don't think that that is something particularly to be proud of. May not have been going for 8 years or so and am certainly not a prude but don't think even as an ex JW that is something to shout about.

  Did they make you cry?

  not me personally, but my brother-in-law was to give a talk and wasn't completely prepared.

  his talk wasn't long enough.. the elder took him to the back room and belittled him to the point where he cried.

  i guess this is what they mean by.

  I cried at my mums funeral last year (Stayed faithful to it for 60 years) when 2 elders cornered me at her funeral and started saying things like how could I have let my mum die without giving her a glimmer of hope that we would return to the meetings and that did I realise how sad she would be when she woke up in the new system and only my sis and brother would be there to greet her. They said I would be resonsible for her never seeing her great grandaughter again (my daughter no longer goes along neither now) and how could I live with myself for not making an effort.

  I was totally broken hearted when I got home. I don't beleive all that bull about ressurecton etc but it still hurt.

  Have you ever been called on by JWs?

  i've been out for nearly 3 years now.

  i live in the territory but not once has jehovah witnesses knocked on my door - i haven't even seen them preaching in the area - or perhaps it's because i'm never at home in the mornings any longer.. if you have been called on, or offered magazine too - what do you say?.

  I have been out for 8 years and have never had a call. not sure if thats because they knew where we lived and avoided calling. But we have just recently moved into a new build house on a new estate and no one knows we have moved there. Its been up for about 6 months and can't say I have seen any one calling around.

  Really want them to call though just to see the look on their faces when I answer the door. As the advert goes "Priceless"

  Went to a JW "funeral" on Saturday

  my brother called me late on the 13th to let me know that a friend of ours - who is no longer a jw - called him and said that his dad was being flown by helicopter to the hospital because he collapsed at home and had no pulse.

  they took my friend's dad off life support on valentine's day and he died.

  well, i was debating whether or not to go to the funeral because i have no desire to hang around a bunch of jws or set foot in a kindumb hall again.

  My dad died a couple of months after he was reinstated after being DF for smoking. It was left to me to arrange the funeral at the time cos my mum was in bits. The self righteous sanctimoneous, b of a presiding overseer came to see us the day he died to tell us he would be doing the funeral and told me to look on the bright side that at least cos dad was reinstated if he hadn't been then unfortunately he couldn't have had a funeral. I saw red. needless to say he didn't take the funeral(dad couldn't stand him). I got another elder who my dad at least liked to do it.

  Drinking & Jehovah's Witnesses

  you know, i knew a lot of bethelites and every one of them loved their booze.

  as an elder, i would entertain alot of the cos, dos and bethelites and their wives.

  it was not unusual for the wives to get loaded while they were at my house!

  Being part of the "elders Clique" every week we used to go back to one anothers homes after the meetings and get wasted. We had 2 elders with whom we were good friends and they used to do regular channel crossings to France with our orders and stocked up with crate after crate of wine and beer.

  The number of times we used to go out on the ministry on a saturday with raging hangovers do a couple of doors then dissapear to the local Asda for a fry up.

  Ah the good times, but am virtually teetotal now can't stand the hangovers and getting too old for them now.
