I did receive professional help. I needed it, at the time, to help me start healing. The therapist I saw recommended that I seek out others that were on the same path. A big reason why I am here, for support. With everything I told her, I remember she compared me to a "closet" non-witness who was finally coming out. Boy, was she right. I'm outta the closet now....

Lady, your in-laws sound like my parents. My dad was pretty calm about things but mom flies off the handle. Dad would always end up calling me and telling me that she just loves me and cares about what happens to me. He is gone, died 4 years ago, and I have to deal with rage-a-holic, ultra-spiritual, pioneer mom. I'm glad you told us what happened because it gave me strength and courage! I haven't talked to anyone but found a note in my door just the other day. Someone's trying to get up with me. Here we go...

So why would an active JW be trying to help me here at JWD?

got lot's of nice pm's recently from some concerned ones here this week....but i got two from a jw lady, that i had explained i had some lingering issues with being taught me and my parents would never get old and die....among other things....she said:.
i don't recall ever being told i would never die.

What are you going to teach your children about relgion?

I have two young sons. They don't even realize what a JW is or that mommy was one. My husband was never a part of any religion but thinks of himself as spiritual. We'll encourage our boys to love themselves and others. I want them to respect what other people choose to believe, without feeling they are unworthy somehow. So far they have visited a church and a hall with relatives that they stayed overnight with. My family member said from now on the boys' have to come when there's no meeting. Apparently, they embarrassed her. My husband asked what happened and she said that our three year old kept putting his hands over his ears and talking out loud. (gotta love it)

well, personally, contrary to what you've been taught, there are thousands of really nice people in the world just waiting to get to know the new you.
myself, i have taken up bowling, league bowling.

by rache31 indo you find that most of the ones you grew up with left?
i looked around while still active and saw numbers dwindling from my generation.
i pioneered while in late teens/early twenties and several from my class that were friends of mine left years ago.

they say it's important that we fill out this form about emergencies... poor fools.
"hi, i have been meaning to tell you that the society is telling us to fill out an emergency form that the book study conductors have and return it to them in case of an emergency.they will then give us a brochure to have that will tell us where to meet and what to have in our bags so we can grab them and leave in a hurry.

Good point, UU Now! Why do they care about who's baptized in the household? Oh, that's right. Unbelieving mates and undecided kids who should've been dunked will die, so that's less emergency supplies needed.
