This is an extension to the Kool-Aid partakers question. How many people do you think go (out of family, guilt, etc) but really don't want to and doubt if this is the truth?

Will the WTS start taking a hardline towards all the ''faders'' in the org?
by RULES & REGULATIONS in'' faders'' are a thorn on the sides of the wts.
they miss meetings, don't contribute any money, don't go out in service, and can contribute towards the ''spiritual sickness'' of the local congregations.. will there come a point where they will ask each and every ''fader'' if they wish to remain in or out of the congregation?
can they come up with scriptures to warn the congregation that you are a ''fader'' and are be marked?

The beauty of fading is that it's like being guilty of a crime, but being set free due to lack of evidence. Fading in itself is not a DFing offense, neither is poor meeting attendance, or little or no field service. What they may do is get more strict on the things they CAN DF you on, like apostacy. They may start questioning the beliefs and motives of the faders and rule that they believe 'not that of the Society' and DF you. They will try to 'align' your thinking, but if you don't conform, you're out. I think they if anything will use this loophole to indirectly attack faders, but cannot directly attack fading in itself.

Opinion - What % of JWs are hardcore Kool Aid partakers?
by Gregor inthe recent thread about the 1975 after effects (fall off in members) got me to thinking about the ratio of hardcore, "can't kill 'em with a stick", witnesses to the marginal, "spiritually weak", followers.
for all the backtracking and double talk old freddy caused the gb with his 1975 'vision', they learned a lot about the make up of their followers and were reassured that they have a hardcore majority base that will always be there.
my guess is it is around 80/20.

I would say maybe 20% TRULY believe it. 50% believe 'a lot' or 'some' of it, enough to just 'trust' that it's Jehovah's organization. 30% go out of just doing the motions. Support the family, keep up with friends, and out of fear of armagedden and death, but really don't belive it that strongly. I fell into the last category :)

Let's all take a much needed vacation
by Honesty inthis one sounds nice:.

i want to experience this particular facet of the trip:.

I've heard of these bus tours where people will sing Kingdom Melodies for hours, and discuss field service experiences. Even in the best of days that would drive me nuts. Today I'd just want to shoot myself if I had to live thru that.

WTS response to 9/11
by Robert7 ini'm sure this has been discussed in length, but i'm a newbie :).
one item that really shocked me, back when i believed this was 'the truth' was the lack of response to the 9/11 attacks.
as all of us, we were really shocked and really were looking for comfort at the meeting (school/service meeting).

One item that really shocked me, back when I believed this was 'The Truth' was the lack of response to the 9/11 attacks. As all of us, we were really shocked and really were looking for comfort at the meeting (School/Service Meeting). Instead they very coldly just said that the Kingdom will fix all problems, and just look ahead to the Kingdom. Nothing about the innocent lived killed, their families, etc. But they did mention the 10 or so Witnesses killed.
This was the first time in memory that I really tried to turn to my religion for spiritual comfort. Instead the answer basically was "seek the Kingdom" and "preach the good news". This left a big hole in me. This really stuck with me, asking, "How can this be the true religion?".

Circuit Assembly This Weekend
by united states of nothing inwell, i went this weekend and there were a few key points that i thought were pretty interesting.
one thing is that we are not to use the word 'society' any longer.
i don't know if anybody else has heard of this before but i wondered what the reason was behind it.

What I found most disturbing was the statement (paraphrased, as I don't recall the exact wording) "Salvation can only be achieved thru the Watchtower organization". Not Jesus, Jehovah, but WATCHTOWER. Talk about exalting oneself. Very much felt like they felt like they deserved praise. There was a LOT of focus on "The organization" this assembly, more than I thought was right when balanced with JESUS and GOD.

Superstition: a: a belief or practice resulting from ignorance, fear of the unknown, trust in magic or chance, or a false conception of causation b: an irrational abject attitude of mind toward the supernatural, nature, or God resulting from superstition
JWs are not superstitious. They pride themselves on it, which is why you cannot say 'bless you' or 'good luck'.
For JEs and all Religions, if you, attribute your actions to the Bible (Koran, etc), then of course it's not superstitions.
This is why I am starting to believe that all Religions are a joke...

Something(s) I always wondered about...
by KenseiShimonzu inwas,if jehovah was going to bring about armegeddon to destroy the "wicked"humans who may live an average of 75 yrs +/-,who may not even know of him in their lifetime..why would he allow satan, who was directly associated with him,to exist for as long as he has?..seems to me,it would have been an instantaneous destruction because he already knew better..it would have been worse than blasphemy.. he even allowed him complete control over the earth to do as he wishes...also,if he isn't destroyed at some point, how would humans know?
no human can see spirit creatures..therefore there could be no proof that he didn't exist anymore(i.e a body).
another thing that has always bugged me about that whole scenario..why would "jehovah" the supreme creator, have the need to justify his right to rule,to a lesser spirit creature that he created...i liken it to a son telling his father that he knows better than the father about how the household should be run....sort of a moot point.

I also didn't get it. Why let this system go just to prove a point? I wouldn't let my kids play in traffic just to prove the point that it can kill you. I would say 'too bad, don't play in traffic'. Why couldn't God just replace Adam & Eve and say 'too bad, follow my laws' and not let things continue with sin? If God is perfect and his laws are perfect, no example should be needed to prove it.

Feb 15th Watchtower Study Edition - NEW LIGHT - Article in PDF
by AlphaOmega inthe generation seeing the sign .
' previously, this journal has explained that in the first century, "this generation" mentioned at matthew 24:34 meant "the contemporaneous generation of unbelieving jews.
not the whole magazine, but this is the new light article.. .

Don't you think it's ironic that this update on 'generation' is in the new 'study edition' of the WT, and not the public version? Do you think they deliberately don't want the public to see this so they cannot reason on it and pick it apart? This way only believers who will not question this will read the article.
