  Is There ANYTHING Good About The Jehovah's Witness Religion?

  I have to admit there are many positive things. I was baptised in the late teens during early college years, coming from a Catholic upbringing. Being in the faith really kept me out of some trouble. Granted I regret not going to any major keg parties, but I know that I tend to go in excess and the college years would have been WAY different (in a bad way) if I wasn't a Witness. The religion does really promote good values, and gives you access to a network of nice (usually) genuine people whom I really like personally.

  They waste a lot of time with meeting & service requirements, but I never went out in service much anyway :)

  Worst WT term ever

  my vote for the worst watchtower term is:.

  circumcision of the heart!.

  i can't believe that there are people who can not only say "circumcision of the heart" with a straight face in front of the congregation, but defend its 'meaning'.. other runners up in my opinion:.

  my vote for the worst watchtower term is:.

  circumcision of the heart!.

  i can't believe that there are people who can not only say "circumcision of the heart" with a straight face in front of the congregation, but defend its 'meaning'.. other runners up in my opinion:.

  i don't know about the rest of you more seasoned posters here, but i believe jwd is really becoming a welcoming haven for people leaving the jehovah's witnesses , and we are really seeing some great quality posters among newbies coming on the board.

  so, i just want to say to all of you who have joined the last few months , we love your input , you have great takes , and keep your thoughts coming !

  Need some of your help

  i'm currently still attending meetings and am "considered" to still be in good standing.

  i've cut back on how much i go, because to be honest i really don't believe any of it anymore.

  some of it i do still believe is true and legitimate, but most of it i feel is bs.

  I am going thru exactly the same thing. I have just last week decided to fade as I also didn't belive any of it anymore.

  I also am in the same position as you where I fear beign DF'd only because of association. So my advise to you is keep it low key so as to not arouse suspicion that could warrat DFing. This means don't voice your negative opinion to anyone. Just keep it low key and just attend fewer meetings.

  Meetings are very children unfriendly

  i guess the parents can appreciate this one, and this is a very imporant issue since kids are a huge part of your lifel.... have you noticed that meetings are so not children friendly?

  you are expected to keep you children, regardless of age, quiet for 2 hours.

  the expectation is that they are as quiet as an adult.

  Just to add to that thought... how many times as a parent have you come home and actually regretted going to meetings because all you did was fight with the kids? No fault of the kids, fault of the Kingdom Hall not having proper facilities for children...

  Have you noticed that meetings are so not children friendly? You are expected to keep you children, regardless of age, quiet for 2 hours. The expectation is that they are as quiet as an adult. If the children are loud, then you are disrupting the meeting. If you take the kids in back then you are not properly paying attention to the meeting. You can't win.

  I mean, come on, most adults cannot sit still for 2 hours. How do you expect a normal 3 year old to sit still and quiet for 2 hours?

  People have told us over and over that they know we cannot pay attention due to the kids (and having no facilities to allow the kids to make noise) and just our attending helps encourage others. So we should suffer for 2 hours just to encourage others. Bogus.

  Honorable mention (not in WT but used in meetings):

  "extra portion of Holy Spirit for..." (Used all the time in prayers (I've heard CO's use this) as a request for 'extra' holy spirit for someone, like it was a slice of pie, and you only get one portion, but you can request more)

  - i am questioning/doubting the validity of the bible.

  - I am in 'good standing'

  - I am questioning/doubting the validity of the Bible

  - I am questioning/doubting the validity of the WT organization overall

  - I don't participate in meetings or service.

  - I am consulting 'apostate' websites for third party information for facts

  - I do NOT feel guilty or repentant for any of this.

  - If asked by an elder, I would not lie and would admit to all this.

  So question is, would I be DF'd if the elders know all this? Are all these a DF offense? I am looking for serious answers and not necessarily dogmatic views of the WT (although I can't stop you, lol)
