I am glad to see that this has hit many thinking people...
This 'worshiping the organization' is the #1 thing that put me over the edge, to see what a fraud this organization was.
How can anyone not see how much the organization is exacting worship and praise, more than God & Jesus themselves. People mention the FDS all the time during prayers. Is a slave not greater than his master? So much for being discreet...

All hail the "organisation"
by jefferywhat inthis is just a rant from me today, something that i have noticed all my life, but now as an adult bugs me more.
the org has become a quasi god, it has its own "approval" which was cemented in 1918 and as a jw you cant question it at any level, you can question individuals( casue they are imperfect) but the org is perfect, it is theocratic therefore ruled direct by jesus, any mistakes are our fault.
the "society" is beyond reproach in the eyes of so many.

You know, Science did explain the rainbow!
by free2beme inrecently it was after a raining morning, the sun came out and the rainbow appeared.
my jehovah's witness father-in-law turns to me and says, "there is the symbol that jehovah will not flood the world again.
" i started laughing and responded, "no, that is just what myth explained it to be in the past.

The rainbow myth is one of the items that to me disprove the whole Noah story as a myth. (That is, besides the whole flood thing, lol)

Issues That Made You ANGRY While You Were A Jehovah's Witness
by minimus inwhen i look back, i think of some things that really angered me about the organization.
i was raised as a witness and i was taught from a very early age that "reaching out" was the most important things i could do in life.
i was to reach out for "privileges" and get baptized.

1) Education is bad, so you have a bunch of uneducated people.
2) Independent thought (intelligence) is bad, so you have a bunch of blind followers.
3) Money is bad, so you have a congregation of people struggling to make ends meet. -

Questioning Russell's background is gossip, so don't do it
by Robert7 inso i attended the sunday meeting yesterday, and i saw an example of a preemptive strike against those questioning the borg's russel and rutherford.. after about 25 minutes of the talk of blah blah blah (i cannot even recall any details) the speaker concludes by saying (paraphrased):.
"there are those who wonder about the allegations made against russel and rutherford.
we do not know them, so isn't that gossip?

By dropping small seeds, that this info is 'false', or 'accusations', and to avoid it, it subconsciously trains people to have that knee-jerk reaction to put up that wall and not even think about it.
Why would "The Truth" have anything to hide? -

Reasons You Hated Being A Jehovah's Witness
by minimus inmy biggest reason: the religion is stupid.
plain and simple.

time time time... I hated wasting my precious free time. Fine, I'll give them Sunday, but depending on the time, you can waste 1/2 your day when it's a noon meeting. Then Saturday, my ONLY day to sleep in and enjoy a full day off (god forbid), I get guilt-ed into service. Then wasting 2 nights a week, I HATED losing 2 nights a week.

I was just shocked they brought up the subject at all. I feel that by bringing it up, it would make people think about it more, than if it were left alone. Sometimes by overly trying to convince someone that something is not true, you are showing signs that it may be true.
However, since most people just drink the KoolAid, I bet no one even thought about it. It was probably intended to be subtle enough so it becomes part of everyones subconscious. So later when they run across details of Russel/Rutherford, they will just dismiss it as a reaction, like all other 'truths about the truth'. -

So I attended the Sunday meeting yesterday, and I saw an example of a preemptive strike against those questioning the borg's Russel and Rutherford.

"There are those who wonder about the allegations made against Russel and Rutherford. We do not know them, so isn't that gossip? So we shouldn't engage in those thoughts..."
Total BS! My BS alarm went off big time and I wanted to stand up and say YOU FOOLS!!! I wonder if this was in the outline, or if the speaker added it to the talk...

Hook Lines or Phrases Jehovah's Witnesses Use to Control You
by flipper into control a person, or control a group of people , any cult , including jehovah's witnesses , have to gain your trust that they are the authority on what you need to know.
even people have been known to use these " catch phrases " to gain trust , or " hook lines " as you'd call them to gain control over groups of people or individually in their own lives.
see if you are familiar with these phrases which empower the sender of the phrase , but demands rapt allegiance from listeners to be the " gospel truth " without challenge , which can take the listeners power away.

"If this system is still around..." Since you are showing lack of faith by speaking about anything remotely in the future (that is not WT related) so many people preface it with this...

Counting My Time
by Outaservice inthe society reports millions of hours spent in the field service yearly.
when you were active did you follow theocratic instructions carefully and faithfully?
did you stop for a coffee break and keep your time going?
-
Robert7
Did anyone take advantage of the 4-hour per month time you get for 'instructing your child'? We were told since you spend time instructing your children, you can count 4 hours per month. This was 4 hours total no matter how many children. Didn't matter, since I didn't really believe anything that strongly, I didn't study with the kids, so it was free time :)
So my wife and I split that, so I was guaranteed 2 hours each month, to stay 'active'. Add another 2 hours with 1 day of service when I went out even though I didn't want to.
Now, when we were out, we spent at most 1 1/2 hours of actual time, and the rest on break. The actual time was inefficient, usually calls. Then I'd round it up to 2 hours. -

Shocking rules in the past/ present of society...
by cognac innot a rule anymore;.
1. you couldn't get a divorce if mate cheated on somebody of the same sex or an animal.
2. you couldn't get an organ transplant.
-

An extension to #1 - You are not scriptually divorced even if the male has anal sex with another female. For a while, the rule was -only- vaginal sex with a woman as grounds for divorce.
