so, has anybody used vonnage or the like?

and how does it work?

THE best deal if you have ATT DSL like I do, is get VOIP thru ATT. They call it CallVantage, and it's full VOIP service like Vonage, but this works very well since they own both the network and the service. It's $25/mo for unlimited everything, and if you have wireless with them, it's only $20/mo. Best deal I've seen out there.

i've been meaning to put this up here for a while, so here it goes.

this photo is called the "cusp catastrophe model" (for more on cusp catastrophe go here physchologist leslie l. downing has used this model to show how people tend to behave when either accepting new beliefs: (his work on this subject can be found in the book "war in heaven, heaven on earth") .

it may appear to be confusing, but i think that once you take a closer look things become quite apparent.

If the "Truth" was so powerful and irrefutable; how could it be so quickly collapsed by a couple of hours of reading on the topic of 1914?

Exactly! And this was part of my early stages of leaving. When I would hear on the platform to avoid the lies on the internet, my immediate reaction was "Bull***t, what are you hiding?" I'm not stupid, if its false, then it holds no value, and you should not fear it. Of course I was not a mindless sheeplike follower

i read steve hassan's first book " combatting cult mind control" last year and just started reading with my wife his follow up book " releasing the bonds " put out in 2000. a few quotes i wanted to share with you in case you haven't read it - and to help us keep in mind how far we have come from being mind controlled when we were jehovah's witnesses.

hassan mentions , " destructive cults are distiguished by their use of deception and mind control techniques to undermine a person's free will and make him dependent on the group's leader.

he adds, " destructive cults use mind control techniques to keep members dependent and obedient.

This moreso shows that cult mind control is not about being 'stupid'. Mind control is all over the place, and a lot of people fall for it. This is why critical thinking and free speech is very important. This day and age the internet is a great tool for exposing mind control.

For me personally this JW experience has taught me to think more critically and not take things at face value. Hopefully this will prevent me from ever falling prey to mind control again.

our po...who is really full of himself....reckons that he is reading a special letter tonight, he says he isn't allowed to tell fellow elders before the public reading.

just a word of caution....our po...is one who loves all the mystery and secrets, so my inkling is that it will be a crock of crap.

however it may prove to be interesting...i will tell you after meeting tonight.

Does Anyone Know the Details about Kazakhstan?

if they are arresting people at book studies, why doesn't the wb&ts just suspend them early to avoid problems?

i'm wondering if arrests are also made when a "free home bible study" takes place.

Kazakhstan is not only a developing country, we are well equipped technologically and are an advanced society. Our people are highly educated. We have modern cities that are economic centers. We have very modern buildings. Although a glorious nation, we have problems economic, social, and Jew.

Kazakhstan borders Russia to the North, and to the South, Kyrgyzstan, and a$$holes, Uzbekistan.

firstly my thoughts are with anyone who lost loved ones in this terrible trajedy.

the other point i wanted to make was i remember the witnesses here only seeming to be bothered about 'the brothers' in new york at this time.

made me feel sick !

The reaction (or lack thereof) of the WTS & elders to 9/11 really bothered my wife and I. The focus on only the brothers, and lack of any love or compassion to anyone else really bothered us. Plus, we expected some 'comfort' at the service meeting the following night, and all we got was some mention of the brothers during the prayer.

My discipline due to lack of participation (lack of service & commenting), was.... further lowering my participation!!!!

- No controlling the mics (No 'priviledges' period)

- Could not read at Book Study

- Could not say prayer at Book Study

I liked discipline! Allowed me to fade easier!

i will list a number of my doubts on this subject as it was one teaching that pissed me off - as i feel it caused jehovah's witnesses not to mourn properly at funerals and show authentic compassion to others - as well as held out false hope for a " fantasyland " paradise .

these reasons i list here actually were and are taught by jehovah's witnesses as fact !

listen to how bizarre this sounds.

For me it was the fact that we're designed to multiply, but the earth has finite space. So at some point we will over populate the planet. The only explanation I heard was some BS on how Jehovah will stop us from having kids, or maybe we'll inhabit other planets. All BS.

i am being investigated judicially, although weeks are going by without the elders saying anything to me about it.

i still comment and give my talks.. anyway, some of my friends are getting word about me being investigated, some in my family too.

a couple i used to preach with every week no longer call me and bug me to join them.

I'm sorry you're going through this.. its a tough time to sit and see what the future will hold for you. Just make sure you feel confident in whatever your decision might be... and do whats best for you.

Tell me really WHY ARE YOU HERE? things here are "against the WT"... YES. because everyone here has been screwed out of years and years of their lives because of it. They have been screwed out of retirement, college, children... YOU NAME IT. and yes, some have died for the cause. If you want a PRO WT site, good for you, GO FOR IT. Dont expect us to change. I wish you responded ONCE to everyone telling you how you think the friends love you no matter what... GO TELL THEM you love to post on apostate websites. GO AHEAD miss "i love everything about the WT, they would never hurt me!" Lets see how that works for you. PROVE US WRONG.
