I absolutely do, especially after leaving the cult. Learned that things aren't so black & white, and things tend to not be as extreme as you may think they are.

Do You Have "Normal" Goals Now?
by compound complex inhave you developed new interests and goals now that you're no longer a kingdom-oriented jw?.
or just picking up where you left off before you became a witness?.
and without the guilt...?.

I also applied for grad school. Start my MBA program in January. This is directly tied to leaving the cult, because I 'never had time' before due to being 'so busy'.

Being new we invited 30 brothers over for dinner. We got an invite once?!
by Witness 007 inwhats the deal.
i moved to a new congregation and wanted to slowly each weekend invite all the brothers over to get to know them.
the drill was we had a barbie with red wine and music.

This was a problem for me too. We were rather social and had people over many times, but got rarely invited to other people's places. Over time this led me to not have any strong friendships.
The good side of this was I had virtually no good friendships to lose when I left the cult. If I had many good strong friends in, I quite possibly may have just stayed 'in' just to keep the friends. So they really helped me make my escape easier

JWs say its impossible for "worldly people" to be happy
by shopaholic ini've had 3 different jws tell me this over the past few weeks.
basically their thinking is non-jws are not happy and when they appear to be its not real, its not a true happiness.
according to them, non-jws use drugs, alcohol and wild sex to make themselves happy.

Which is one sign that the WTS is operating a cult. Demonize the rest of the world and claim that the only path to happiness is through them. Cult 101 stuff.
Absolutely. When my mom found out about me, one of her first comments was "How are you going to raise the kids?". The fear of 'the world' is so bad she can't even contemplate how I will raise my kids to be good moral people without geing in the cult. She also said my marriage will fall apart and overall I will be very unhappy. Of course none of this has come true.

2 years out...yet i still don't feel like doin Christmas?
by oompa inand damm i love to shop...even on black friday.
i have a feeling it is just because i have never done it and it was forbidden...but so was sex once and i jumped all over that one!
is it because i do not believe jesus was not god nor his son?
-

I personally do feel like doing Christmas even though I'm agnostic and don't believe in the Bible/Jesus/etc. To me it's more about the spirit of the holiday and being with family.
My wife is actually having a harder time. I think it's years of brainwashing telling you that Xmas is SO bad.
Now in your case, it quite possibly has to do with your JW wife, and dealing with her if you do Xmas...

The internet will be there down fall.
by is there help out there inthe first think normal thinking people do when they knock on there door and hand out there garbage is to google jw.
they then find out what a bunch of sick people they are.
years ago when there was no internet they got sucked into believe if they joined they will live in paradise forever.

And the great thing is they are having a hard time 'demonizing' the internet like they do apostates and apostate literature. It may have been hard to get an apostate book years ago, but now it's so easy to stumble on a web site that confirms all the doubts you've been having. And they can't just say "the internet is bad", so their hands are tied.

The burdensome load of a Jehovah's Witness - did you feel this way?
by jambon1 infor me, my life as a jehovah's witness was tiring, depressing & miserable.
surrounded by negativity i felt utterly supressed & unhappy.
to carry out my 'responsibilties' became very difficult.

I hated losing 2 nights a week, and the occasional Saturday. Book Study sucked because for a 1 hour meeting your whole night was shot. Service meeting was just boring and I always left unfulfilled. And Saturday service, gosh I wanted 1 day a week to sleep in, and that was too much to ask.
I resented how much time it all took from my life, and every meeting and every Saturday looked for a reason to miss a meeting.

WT examples of Over Organization...
by Confucious ini was at this convention one time.. when it was over, this arena had like four different exits from the parking lot.. basically, at "worldly" events, when the show is over - it's a free-for-all and people just leave.. so people leave - of course there's a little traffic, but people just leave.. it's simple... show's over - go home.. but whomever the brother in charge of the parking lot... blocked off entrances and made all the cars exit in a nice little line and it took forever.. oh... it was just so orderly!!!.

This type of following like lemmings used to piss me off. There were so many examples like this.
- Long lines at the hotel breakfast buffet because no one would dare to just jump ahead to quickly grab a donut.
- Long lines in bathrooms and no one would use the 'handicapped' stall. (they're acting like it's a reserved parking space)
- Long lines to get the new books even though there are other spots where there were no lines.
- Long lines leaving the parking lot at DCs for the same reason you put.
What's interesting is that at our new DC in Raleigh, the convention centre reqired that we use THEIR parking lot attendants. And guess what? It was SUPER efficient. The lot filled up and emptied out very quickly. So much for organization. Dubs just love lines.

I have to admit 6 screens was the first apostate site I've visited while still 'in'. It was so over-the-top it was actually humerous, and not scary. I was under the crazy belief that if we have the truth, then there's nothing this site that can say to sway me. This site made no impact on me, and it took another year of dissonance to break out and visit other sites that really did help me out, mainly jwfacts.com and JWD.
