Judas Iscariot: Destiny or Fate?
by sacolton ini've always wondered if judas really had a choice in his role of deceiving jesus for 30 pieces of silver.
did he really have any freewill?
since the scriptures had to be fullfilled, was his fate pre-determined by god?

You assume he really did commit suicide. Maybe he faked his death! He might've killed Jesus due to a power struggle. Maybe Jesus was too soft for him.

I think I've seen that special. I love the history channel!
I still don't believe in any of it
That Jesus was a highly charasmatic man trying to unify his people through religion? Or that there exists a gospel according to Judas?

So an old "friend" emailed me today...
by bluesbreaker59 ini was checking my email and i received an email from an old "friend" of mine.
to give some history this "friend" and i, were "in love" as teeny boppers.
she was stuck on me, then we fell apart because she wanted to be an ultra dubbie, and i didn't.

Well, I was going more from the standpoint that he was trying to convince people that this religion they made up was real by fulfilling the "prophecy".
I tend to believe that Jesus, a mere man, in an attempt to help or unify his people sort of invented this movement. His 12 henchmen knew this and maybe Judas, in an attempt to further this religion.. fulfilled the prophecy.

LadyZ-
Option 4: Judas knew of the prophecy and since all of these men were trying to convince people that Jesus was God/God's son he deliberately acted in a way that would "fulfill" the prophecy. He didn't truly betray him, he was merely trying to progress the religion.
(This goes in option 1, I suppose because it means it's freewill).

Letter to Elders As An MS Going to College
by daniel-p in[this is the letter i wrote in december, 2005 to my po just before i confronted all my doubts.
the infamous article bashing higher education had just come out and i was having a hard time making sense of everything.
i was still a ministerial servant, and it just pushed me over the edge.

My little brother is in college (he's 19). My parents are proud of him and feel that in this day and age you almost have to. I understand that things vary by congregation.. but outside of this board I haven't heard of this. I have cousins in Mississippi that are JW college students and they have never been "counselled" for it. I wonder if it's more acceptable by Black JWs since as a group we statistically have the bigger financial struggles.
