i wish i could not think its so wrong when everyone i know and love thinks its so right.. i'm so mad... i wish i could run to my husband and tell him how angry i am.

Hypocrisy is hard work. I can see the inner conflicts it is creating in you.

I was a JW for 50 years, now disfellowshipped, apostate and shunned. Honestly, I am at peace with myself for the first time in my life. I have been DF'd for 6 years now and I'm fine. My family doesn't speak to me, that's fine too. I have and continue to uncover so many lies and inconsistancies in the literature, I was a first shocked. Now its amusing.

Rememeber, the Bethel guy who invented disfellowshipping got a huge bonus because that is the best way to keep you in chains. Some hard choices but you need inner peace.

I Have a Commercial Janitorial Service - And Proud of It !

this is a subject i've been wanting to approach for awhile as i've noticed on the board at times there have been wisecracks about janitors who were jehovah's witnesses .

now , hey, i'm real, have a good sense of humor, and can take a joke like anyone, be the brunt of a good joke, hell, i laugh at myself when i work alone at nights- just to keep entertained !

I have an engineering degree and have owned several multi million dollar hi tech companies.I also have a degree in accounting.

A friend college friend of mine began doing janitorial work for a company while a student, In fact I worked for this same guy on occasion. College students are notoriously poor.

Upon graduation, I went into engineering. My friend also graduated but shortly thereafter bought the Janitorial business. That was in 1979, He now has 250 employees, owns numerous commercial and residnetial properties, has a mold remediation company that he had franchised out into about 25 states and numerous other investments. I am relatively wealthy but this guy can buy and sell me.

No disrespect here my friend.

By the way, your life as a JW is very much like mine, except for the college thing. My mind was made up and i simply ignored the "no College" stuff. I too married early (for the same reason) and went to college nights.

Now, divorced, disfellowshipped and an apostate. I am remarried to a wonderful woman and I am truly at peace with myself.

They were not really "up front".

The Bible is a mythical book and by its very nature, it is gauranteed to be interpreted a thousand differant ways. There is no proof God wrote the Bible or that Jesus ever lived.

This statement is surprising to me as a recent ex Witness. It's definitly true, but I would not expect it from the JW's.

Further, saying that their translation is spun by their theology and justifying it is not exactly honest.

I agree with that. I do not think any translation can be made without the translators theology influencing it.

The Witnesses are no exception.

"The way these two words have been rendered in the New World Translation has given rise to the charge that the New World Bible Translation Committee let their religious beliefs influence them. That charge is true, but they did not do so wrongly, or unduly. The meaning that is to be given to these two Greek words depends upon what the entire Bible has to say about Jehovah God and Jesus Christ."

"How so? In that there is basis for translating these words either as “Deity,” “Divinity” or “Godhead” and so attributing personality to them, or as “Divine Nature,” “divine quality,” “Godship,” and having them merely denote qualities. Thus those who believe in the trinity will attach personality to these words, whereas those who do not will render them as qualities in view of the way God and Christ are described in the Scriptures and so as to harmonize the words with the rest of God’s Word. This emphasizes the fact that one simply cannot properly and accurately translate the Bible unless one clearly understands its teachings."

They are talking about the theological point of the divinity of Jesus, which to me is frankly meaningless. The important point is the last sentence: “This emphasizes the fact that one simply cannot properly and accurately translate the Bible unless one clearly understands its teachings."

So, in order to translate the Bible you have to have a Theological belief or “clearly understand(s) its teachings." Basically, you then translate the Bible, with your theological spin. So, the Witnesses here are talking about the New World Translation and basically admit they translated it the way they clearly understood its teachings or according to their theology. Basically, they bent the Bible, where necessary, to conform to their understanding.

They say “the New World Bible Translation Committee let their religious beliefs influence them. That charge is true, but they did not do so wrongly, or unduly.” It was not wrong to them because it conformed to their preconceived theology.

There is one who is a cashier at the supermarket I go to. I always make sure that I have a long conversation with her while I'm checking out. It just pisses her off.

Also, the guys from my office go to this one particular restautant and always request this one Witness to be our waitress. the other guys know the situation so they're in on the joke. This girl thinks its funny. I knew her fairly well when I was a JW.

I'm a Pioneer Married To a Wonderful Brother Reaching Out to be an MS...

and petrified... i just recently became a pioneer and always had nagging questions in the back of my mind.

so, i decided that when i have get a study i would research all the questions as i go along so as to prove everything in the truth... i got 4 studies in about 2 months.

all was fine, until i reached i think chapter 6 in the bible teach book about the resurrection.

I was a Witness for 50 year. I began to lose my religion after the 1975 debacle.

I have found numerous contradictions in the Witness Literature and would encourage you to do a ot of research. I am. by definition an Apostate.We don't all lie and conspire to deceive Witnesses. Some of the "anti Witness" sites have very accurate infromation that you can verify with the Watchtower CD.

I have hundreds of examples that I am cataloging, but the latest is from the Watchtower, 8/1/62 page 480. They have some interesting things to say about the New World Translation.

I am a Deist. I have concluded there is a God, but I have found no religion to be true, I'm spiritual not religious.
