  How many of you Ex Jehovah's Witnesses married early and it was a disaster?

  what a common tale.

  you marry early becasue you can't have sex.. i was married at 19 and divorced at 50. the only thing that held it together was our involvement in the jw's.

  otherwise it would have been over in less than 5 years.. my kids are not witnesses and have a terrible relationship with their mother, as she is always trying to shove it down their throats.. this is still happening.

  My kids are not Witnesses and have a terrible relationship with their Mother, as she is always trying to shove it down their throats.

  This is still happening. My neices was married at 16 last year and just had a baby!! The insanity continues.

  What othere experiences have you guys had?

  Do you guys remember the big push to baptize kids?

  it was in the 80's i think but they began stressing the urgency of baptism for anyone who was "at an age of understanding".

  i heard several assembly talks that said kids under ten could be baptized if they qualified.. this sticks in my mind because my kids were 12 or so and not qualified in my view.

  my ex wife pushed my daughter into baptism at 12, she is now 32, not a witness and we both laugh about it.. www.isnrblog.com.

  Wow, the year is 2008, and still no Armageddon!

  every time we enter a new year, i think about how i wasn't supposed to make it this long.

  i really believed we wouldn't live past the year 2000, and armageddon would change everything.

  it almost strikes me as living on borrowed time, but then i remember that armageddon is a story, not a reality.

  "go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; 14 whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.

  but the watchtower 2/15/06, page 12 says:

  In the 2005 and 2006 service year report, they added 250,000 but lost 150,000, for a net of 100K, To my knowledge, they do nto publish the DF'd numbers, but they used to in mention the number at the district assemblies and i would always note it in the back of my Bible,

  In the late 70's early 80's, they had and average of 100,000 per year DF'd. No telling how many reinstatements, but i would fihure, in rough numbers that apoproz 2 mill had been DF'd in 20 or so years.

  I agree. If you look at the numbers, over 2 million have been DF'd in the past 20 years with many more simply becoming inctive. At some point, the former Witnesses will outnumber the present membership.

But the Watchtower 2/15/06, page 12 says: What is happening in Bolivia’s isolated towns is but a small part of a worldwide ingathering that was foretold in Revelation chapter 7, which tells of a gathering during “the Lord’s day” of those who will survive the great tribulation. (Revelation 1:10; 7:9-14) Never before in human history have millions from all nations been united in worship of the only true God. What thrilling evidence that the fulfillment of God’s promises is near! So, is the narrow gate going to be able to accomodate the worldwide ingathering? You can't have it both ways. If few are going to have the truth and be saved, don't look for a huge ingathering. The Wit-lesses crow about the great increase, but their net growth is about equal to the worlds population increase.   WTS Preparing for Tribulation?

  public talk, less magazines publications...etc.

  ) is a sign of the great tribulation is sooooo close now, and the wts is preparing.. i chuckled, when he said that.

  Oh yea, look for a "new understanding of "the great tribulation".

  I could be Hillary as President. She could be the anti-Christ too.

  I still think the Great Trib started when Apple put out the IPhone. I still can't get mine to work. Steve Jobs is the anti-Christ!

  No, wait...the Internet is the Great Tribulation and Yahoo is the anti-Christ!!

  OOH,OOH, I got it, the Sub Prime Mess is the Great Tribulation and Greenspan is the anti-Christ, the composite "man of lawlessness".

  Hey,,it could happen!! Yea, and Watchtower monkeys could fly out of my butt!!!

  Law suits by the Society against websites

  on this site and others i have been reading about the watchtower society suing bloggers and website owners because they quoted the watchtowers publications.

  a couple of observations.

  if you quote a publication that was publically distributed by the millions of copies, how could you be liable?

  Fisherman, I agree about the copyright laws. However, when you distribute literature to the public, it is fundemantaly in the public domain. You can reproduce any of it without permisssion as long as you acknowledge the author or owner of the material. This is reinforced if you are not profiting from it.

  Basically, though the WTS can intimidate anyone with less resources. They don't have to be right, they simply have the funds to intimidate.

  Most will fold, a few wont. But from the WTS perspective, the toothpaste is out of the tube at this point, so why would they bother? If they kept shutting down the little sites, I think eventually the media would smell a good "beating up on the little guy" story. For the most part their most effective strategy is the intimidation of the membership.

  Interestingly, approx 250,000 were df'd in 2006, out of approx 6 million, or 1 in 24. Over the years that means there are a couple of million ex-JW's. At this rate, at some point there will be as many ex's as members. This is not counting the innactive and assuming the JW numbers are correct. After all, they seem poor at math, with all the mis calculted dates, etc.
