That is probably a better strategy than fighting them in the open.

on this site and others i have been reading about the watchtower society suing bloggers and website owners because they quoted the watchtowers publications.
a couple of observations.
if you quote a publication that was publically distributed by the millions of copies, how could you be liable?

On this site and others I have been reading about the Watchtower Society suing bloggers and website owners because they quoted the Watchtower’s publications. A couple of observations. If you quote a publication that was publically distributed by the millions of copies, how could you be liable? My lawyer says that if you do not acknowledge the quote as coming from the literature, you could have some liability. It could be charged that you were taking credit for its authorship. Otherwise since they are so widely distributed, they would have no argument. Of course, you wouldn’t want to distort the quote, there would be liability on your part for doing so. Just like you can criticize a public figure, the Watchtower by making this massive effort to place this literature in the hands of the public, would allow you to reprint and critique. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t sue. Often a person or entity with lots of cash will sue a person without the means to defend him/herself. The defendant may be right, but he doesn’t have the money to prove it, so he/she loses. I have two questions/thoughts: 1- Has anyone heard of any suits, been sued themselves and what was the outcome? 2- Shouldn’t we establish a legal fund to counter this? $5.00 from each DF’d Witness would put a stop to it. It’s also interesting that the new placement Watchtower is different than the Study Watchtower given to publishers. That creates a whole different legal dynamic if the study Watchtower is not made available to the public. It could be that they are trying to “plug the hole” with the new Watchtower arrangement. she comes home with "sis.
curious says she misses you.".
"tell her i am right here, a phone call away.".
When they say they miss me, I always say "Ya know, I always miss you guys too. I keep forgetting to get those sites on my rifle calibrated. It shoots a little high.
My wife (not a JW) works where my father works. He will often come in her office and tell her how much he "misses me". Her standard reply is "Come on over tonight for supper. Bring Mom". I'm DF'd and an apostate. Of course he says "he can't" and she says "Sure you can! You can drive and you know where we live."
Piss on 'em, really.

sorry if this has already been mentioned, but what we need to do is get 145,000 disfellowshipped and or apostate ex witnesses to attend the next memorial and partake in the wine and bread.. what a hoot!!!.
that will get the bethel calculators going overtime.

Of course they say that anyone who partakes is counted and no one can object to anyone partaking but would they count them?
Good question.
i still can't understand what they would have to gain by being a un ngo.
some say status and others say they could gain monitarily, things to be investigated.
the staus and influence theory does make some sense.

This leads to another question about monitary gain, Is someone or a small group actually making millions from the Witnesses? They have to have Billions on real estate alone, just in NYC. When you think about it, what expenses do they have? They pay the bethilites squat and have littel or no mortgages in their properties. In fact, they will give individual congregations loans to build halls. Are these underwritten by banks?
Someone with the means should look into this an investigative reporter, or such. How are they doing since they switched to voluntary contributions at the door? As I recall, the congregation members ponied up for the literature. Whats happening now?

like have you said stuff that is just outright insane like "each and every one of us should be ready and willing to die for the society" purely in the hopes that you'd turn someone off?
i imagine for most of us trying to fade that would be the most difficult thing to do, but some people are really good at shutting down and just going with a flow, too.. .
i ask because it's the only possible explanation i can come up with for some of the really bat-shit insane stuff i've heard come from the podium.
Where do I start?
My aging father was giving the "special talk". You read the "Special talk". You do not adlib. Anyway dad began to adlib on the subject of racial discrimination and actually said the "n" word, from the platform, in his rambling adlib. I almost pissed myself. That was the funniest thing I saw from the platform.
He was removed as an Elder.
I was in a demonstration with two other brothers where they actually started arguing on the platform. We got way off subject. Finally, when it was my turn to say something. I said “I think I’m in the wrong demonstration”. We were running out of time and had to end it. You had to be there. It was a hoot.
One time a brother put his glasses down on the podium and he was leaning on the top of it and it collapsed on his glasses.
There was a newly baptized guy who was being interviewed on stage and when he touched the mic, he got a shock and instinctively yelled “Shit!!”
I would always raise my hand during the Watchtower study and ask questions they could not answer. In fact, they revoked my “privilege to answer”. What a crock of s**t. The meetings are not for Witnesses to learn they are for indoctrination purposes. If you interrupt the cadence, you spoil the brain washing. As a result of this I was DF’d for apostasy.
If you’re still a Witness and planning on quitting, do some research on each study Watchtower and you will find discrepancies in the lit. Raise your hand and ask about them.

since i have been out i have bumped into witnesses at the supermarket where i work, as you do.
some have the balls to say "hi" and "hang in".
others have bigger kahunas and actually talk to me - this doesn't go unappreciated by me.
I get that all the time.
Most will ignore me, some will say hi and some will talk. Most will say the old "Well, you know it's the truth"
My standard comment is that I was disfellowshipped for apostasy, have an apostate Blog and in 6 years have made no attempt to "get back". I have not attended a meeting, a memorial, nothing. Does it look like I think it’s the truth?
It's the programmed arrogance that they are reacting to, that “They’ll be back, they know it’s the truth”. I know there are people that come back. I did an informal survey of people I personally knew and that showed more stay out than go back. Also, I noticed those whose families did not totally shun them were more likely to go back.
Which brings up another point. Different people treat the disfellowshipped one differently. Different strokes.

i have read the new wt and am thinking of going back.
i believe a lot of the teachings and i see what is going on .
i just feel a lot of confusion right now.
Look at all yhe evidence. Do some research on the contradictions and ouright lies in the literature.
Make your own decision, but get as many facts first.

last week i revisited a place in my youth that was important.
it no longer exists.
not even an address.
My Grandmother was a saint. My Grandfather was the most paient, loving Grandfather anyone could have.
Both Witnesses. Grandpa was outspoken and would not think twice about taking on any pompous elder who said something out of line. He ws never a servant and both he and Gma could talk the Bible better than any of oue so-called spiritual leaders.
They both die in the mid 80's. I live in Flrodia and they lived in New England. I do have sevral momentos from them that will on occasion back memories.
It's a nice feeling.
