the best part (in my opinion) is the talk by ciro aulicino, entitled "you will be with me in paradise".
This diatribe reveals the truly hateful nature of Watchtower leadership. The homophobia is disturbing (but not suprising considering the source), and the way the speaker revels in the gruesome nature of destruction of all non-Watchtower adherents is sickening.

Jews could pronounce Hallelu-yah, and as was mentioned many names are made up of parts of god's name. So maybe it wasn't blasphemous to them as long as they didn't say the whole word.
I'm sorry, but I find this superstition hilarious. So if you're an Orthodox Jew, you can use a "fraction" of the divine name, and certain combinations of fractions, as allowed by your religious leaders. -- Just so long as you didn't use the "whole" name, you're kosher.
It reminds me of a certain cult and its Pharisaic laws about blood "fractions" vs. whole blood.

Isn't the JERUSALEM Bible a Catholic translation? That has the name "Yahweh" plastered all over in its OId Testament.
Can Catholics still use the Jerusalem Bible?

Technically the JW's do not claim apostolic succession, which is defined as an uninterrupted succession of church leaders all the way back to Jesus.
They have claimed, mysteriously, that the Memorial of Jesus Christ's death was celebrated accurately and truthfully by at least one anointed person annually, going back to 33 C.E. So, their most recent Memorial would have been the 1976th annual memorial, so they claim. That would be the only continuity that they claim.
Rather than succession, they claim restoration -- that C.T. Russell's movement and what grew out of it (the modern day Jehovah's Witnesses) is a RESTORATION of first century Christianity, rather than an unbroken succession.

i know in the past that michael mcdonald has been listed as a jw.
in fact, i thought that was the case for a number of years.. he just sang america the beautiful on tv prior to the obama nomination and has a no-no beard and longer than "acceptable" hair.. what's going on?.

I'd say voting is an essential act of freedom that shows the WTS has no control over our actions. Voting is definitely being 'a part of this world' in WT parlance.
I voted in '02, '04 and '06, and am registered to vote again in November.
