Like Ben Franklin said, in this world nothing is certain but death and taxes. Life may seem like it's speeding up, but life has always been short and it continues to feel that way now. We have more choices about usage of leisure time -- and whether we make the most of our short life is really up to each of us.

I heard this morning on the radio the results of a survey about America's economy. 25% feel panicked, and 70% are "concerned". I'm in the 70%. I think concern is reasonable. I don't think panic is. The market is going through a major but needed adjustment, after which life will return to a more normal and hopefully more sensible rhythm. People will come to understand once again the value of thrift and saving, much as happened during the Great Depression era.
No matter when we live, we should appreciate the preciousness of life. It is special or precious now, and it will continue to be in the future.
