  It cannot be displayed that Jehovah's Witnesses have an "outstanding" child-protection policy. However, much evidence exists to the contrary and has been reported in media in several nations. Yes these are "negative" reports, but it is the media's job to examine all sides of issues and they did so. The Watchtower leadership's stubborn adherence to the "two eyewitness" rule helps prevent child molestors from being removed.

  It's 2010, not 2009 and Freeminds is still going strong. It was the first site that helped me discover the deception of Watchtower teaching.

  JW growth is slower in areas where Internet penetration is high. This is because people now have easy access to real-life experiences and actual Watchtower history. That knowledge is power to resist the alluring promises of "living forever" offered to those who adhere to one Bible society's ever-shifting doctrines.

  Hi GB. I really like that Ben Franklin quote. I don't think truth needs protection. But faith is protected by gangs of brutal (or authoritarian) religionists. The point of the first post was exactly that faith seems to need protection, and people are encouraged to repeating inside themselves and to others "it's true, it's true, it's true". As JW's we were told to keep meditating, they kept pounding the same ridiculous ideas into our heads, and we were told to keep telling it to others. You can see why I resist "faith" these days.

  this is inspired by another thread, but heres something that always bugged me.... if god wanted to know if abraham really was faithful... then why didn't he use his abilty to look into his heart and find out?

  instead of putting the poor man and his son through a near death/ murder situation??

  Hi elderelite. As I said before we're familiar with the account. I'm not hear to try to tear down your faith. I'm just saying that the original post raised a question about why Yahweh felt the need to screw around with the mind of his "friend" Abraham? I still haven't heard a satisfying answer about the motivations of Abraham's heavenly friend.

  Yes we know Abe didn't slash Isaac to death. That's not the issue. The issue is why, according to the account, did God do this mindf**k on Abraham when he already knew Abraham like the back of his own hand? Would you ask your longtime friend who had never crossed you to do something crazy just to prove their friendship to you?

  Michael Jackson---What Was Your Opinion Of Him?

  a year ago, mj suddenly died.

  for years, multitudes of people said michael jackson was a "sicko" a "wacko", a "child molester" and an "addict".. once he died, the man was glorified by people, the media and his family.. what did you think about michael?.....personally, i thought he was an eccentric ultra-gifted artist who was childlike and brilliant.

  i was never convinced that he was a child molester but i will say i thought his behavior was "weird" with kids (and adults)..

  "He needed to answer to any pedophilia he did" - accusations have been made but none were proven. He was acquitted. Any other statement is based on assumption of people and situations that nobody on this board knows about.

  As to his personality, I feel he was very naive and it led him into bad-looking situations. However I do not believe his intentions were ever to hurt anyone.

  Very little has been said here about his philanthropy and generosity. He raised millions for causes he cared about.

  If anyone has doubts about his musical genius, just watch the "This is It" DVD, and consider how respected and imitated he was in the music world. So many artists were inspired by his very-original style. And he invented the music-video-as-art. Before his videos that accompanied the Thriller album, every music video was a performance video. MJ changed that. He was continually breaking new ground, he didn't settle into the same pattern or regress.

  Good question - which of course makes us realize that the JW's preaching work is actually harming people by informing them of what they need to know for their salvation. If they didn't know, then they would be held innocent at the soon-to-come Armageddon.

  However.....The Abraham story was a clever invention of Hebrew priests, just as all religious mythology is. It's a way to hypnotize and amaze people into subjecting themselves to a particular ideology.

  like the toyota prius.....i wonder if there will be a factory recall of the millions of pieces of literature that were spread throughout the world with the wrong "generation" information in them ?.

  Toyota does recalls because they're regulated by the governments of the world.

  Watchtower will not do recalls because they're an unregulated religious corporation, and religions can literally get away with anything up to and including murder.

  I think you may have blown it by calling the client directly. That's not your responsibility, yet.

  However if you play your cards right and continue to perform well, hopefully your management will realize your value to the company and perhaps even use you in some sort of oversight role. However you may have set yourself back by stepping outside of your current role - and they may need to see that you perform well and don't have a "strike two" and you may do well, or at least well enough to earn a recommendation when it's time to move to another firm.
