Hi Jimmer.

Thanks, Gopher

do you think the wts will ever reduce the number of meetings per week, maybe drop one night a week?
just curious!
it seems that everyone is so whipped from working all day, i really think that's why there is such a drop in meeting attendance.
Orbison, requirements were reduced to 70 hours for regular pioneers monthly (840 hours per year), and to 50 hours per month for auxiliary pioneers. I'm not sure for special pioneers.

i was looking at jw sites on the net and i found this site, its pretty cool i must admit and you all seem to be so positive about life after "the truth".
but its also comforting to hear how scared some of you were when you first left.. at the moment i'm contemplating leaving the organization.
i haven't been attending the meetings much lately, nor done any witnessing, and to be honest i don't miss it.
Hi HWT!
Mind if we meet you, halfway? I just recently jumped on this site and have found incredible support. With people like these out here, you don't have to feel so alone. It's scary to leave, but even scarier to stay.
So come here often. Pour your heart out. You're in safe hands here. We don't mind if it even gets a little long. (I do that all the time!)
Regards,
Gopher
okay hi.
i'm new here and i kinda like it but i do have some question have any of you grown up in the truth and then some were along the line stop going to meeting well i did i found out about some stuff the organization was doing and it really disapointed me and also the congregations i have been in haven't been very confornting so if any of you have some you want to talk about or you have been through the same i would really like to hear from you .

Hi Discombobulated girl. We chatted a couple of days ago, about how you tried to make friends in the congregation but they wouldn't ever let you be their friend, that sort of thing. I don't know why "Christians" would ever want to turn their back on someone who needs a friend. I think everyone I meet has something to offer. People should not be rejected like that!
I tried to e-mail you, but your e-mail address is restricted here. If you still want to reach me, I am at [email protected]. Otherwise, you've got a lot of friends out here who seem like they want to talk to you! I'm finding a lot of new friends too, who like me for what I am, and not for what I have or for how many hours I spent in the ministry.
Take care,
Gopher
went to the sunday meeting today.
the talk was the same old same old about judgement day, field service, and other things i have all ready forgotten.
by the time the talk was over i was trying to stay awake but the wt study sure opened my eyes for me in a way a few "no-doze" could never do.
CS, well thought-out post!
I think about this often. I don't live with my wife any longer (not by my choice, even though I didn't do any serious wrong). We have a precious 2-year old girl who will learn the "wonderful" things of which you spoke. My wife, currently DF'd, will seek reinstatement. By then our divorce will probably be final. (Sorry for pouring out so much.)
My second thought, is on the FEAR you point out. I think its in 1 John where we are told "There is no fear in love. In fact, perfect love throws fear outside." So to the extent an organization promotes fear in its teachings, it denigrates love. And love is the main point of Christianity, or shouldn't it be?

last week i had a phone conversation with my family back in england.
my parents had figured out that something wasn't usual about my attitude to the "truth", so they started grilling me: have i been to meetings?
going in field service?
Zazu,
:they would rather put 'materialistic' as a label on you than 'disbeliever':
I remember it being said that when someone put ANYTHING ahead of "Kingdom Interests" (another Bible term, right?) that person could be called "Materialistic", even if they are poor!! Whatever came ahead of the Kingdom was the "Material".
Just more name-calling. They would not want to think that anyone could disbelieve their sacred beliefs!

Discombulated girl,
We talked in the chat room earlier today. You said I should e-mail you but I do not know your e-mail address. If you want, please e-mail me first ( [email protected]).
Thanks, Gopher
i was thinking about the post about japan closing about 300 congregations in the past 3 years.
i know that the hall i occasionally go to is usually less than half full compared to a few years ago.
my mom says that the elders in her hall are trying to come up with ways to get more to attend as attendance is really bad.

Expatbrit,
You welcomed me this past Sunday as a fellow 3rd-generation JW, about to go through the family thing.
Now that you have gone through this round (#1) of interrogation and accusation, what do you think will happen next? Will they now begin the 'shunning' program? Will they try to continue the course of accusation? Or will they try to 'win you over' nicely? (Whatever your parents do, I'm 90% sure mine will do too.)
Hang in there! Be true to yourself! I loved your ranting!
Gopher (of the about-to-be-interrogated class)
