well, we got a new digital camera and took it on our little jaunt to orlando, so i thought i'd share a few with you.. we went to this dinner theater where they dress up as knights and do the whole jousting and sword fighting thing.
since we had two teenage boys with us...it was their idea of a fun evening.

Joel, in Minnesota we also played "Where'd you go, Who'd you see, what'd you say, what'd they say, what was the result." It was usually quite funny the first couple go-arounds.

the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that if the watchtower falls short to a significant degree then it cannot be jehovahs organization.
thats why apostates are hopeful that if enough fault can be found with the organization and brought to the attention of the faithful, then they too will accept the conclusion that jehovahs witnesses are not who we say we are.
unquestionably, many have been stumbled over a multitude of stumbling blocks.
Jesus said,
Whoever stumbles one of these little ones...it is more beneficial for him to have hung around his neck a millstone....and to be sunk in the wide, open sea.... Woe to the man through whom the stumbling block comes!--Matthew 18:6,7
So doesn't this apply to the organization as well? If they through their carelessness or through deliberate machinations stumble a little one, isn't their fate God's everlasting condemnation? If we merely POINT to a stumbling block, that doesn't mean that the block "came through us". We're merely pointing it out, to help a person avoid potential injury!! Pointing out a stumbling block in an organization that claims to be God's sole spokesman on earth in the 21st century is NOT the same as causing one to stumble!! Right?

Syl Jones writes an op-ed piece each Friday for the Star-Tribune, and always states what's on his mind, no matter how controversial. He has stirred up the readers for years with heated comments pointing out the racism built into the establishment.
This article, though, sounds like he's been listening to the JW's. (Perhaps Prince the musician/JW who lives near Minneapolis has clued Mr.Jones in to some of the JW end-time beliefs??)
When he says "it is crucial that God's name be vindicated" -- what other religion uses such terminology?
And then he says
That purpose will be served, initially, by political rulers who will turn on religion, throw its precious gold, silver and jewels in the street, and strip of their power clerics of all faiths. Interestingly, the Bible describes these religious rulers as kings without a kingdom. The political rulers will act effectively in removing these religious kings.And then he ends with a hope for a "cleansed earth", and speaks of people being "called out" from religious "organizations". A lot of WT - Speak here.

The main thing, according to JW's, is to spend your whole life supporting their organization. Anything else is a "distraction" or "worldly". Why, these organizations are mainly organized to distract people from the only "true salvation", their kingdom.

just another thread to find out the popular opinion on what happened to the dinosaurs.there are several popular theories such as meteor shower ,super volcanoes or solar flares i'm open to any and all theories or new findings .personally i go with the meteor shower one .the dinosaur represents the most successful time in the history of our planet where life flourished for untold millenium only to become extinct seemingly over night.any opinions are welcome ,thank you for any participation.

today i received greg stafford's new book three dissertations on the teachings of jehovah's witnesses.
for those who don't know, stafford has been a staunch defender of the watchtower society's teachings for at least six years, on the net and in print.
his previous book, jehovah's witnesses defended (1998, 2000), is a milestone in pro-jw literature.. the new book is a radical departure from stafford's previous book in that he strongly questions the society's doctrines about blood transfusions, the basis for the claim of spiritual authority by jw leaders, the necessity for christians to believe the society's 1914 doctrine, and issues of "legalism" including the propriety of requiring "time" in the field ministry to be reported, and even the supposed scriptural basis for the society's ban on celebrating birthdays and christmas.

You are correct to assume that Matthew Alfs is no longer a practicing Jehovah's Witness, at least according to sources here in Minnesota where he lived when he published his books defending the Witnesses.

OK, that was a nice one. I'm damn irresponsible, and thanks for helping me mend my ways. OK: here goes: I didn't bring anyone "into the organization", and I'm really glad for that. However, I did try!! And, I did encourage those who were in to stay in.
But why beat ourselves over something that happened before? Maybe it's part of the grieving process, part of exiting. If someone became or stayed a JW, it was partly due to our efforts. They themselves now have the main responsibility, because they're currently still staying in it!! That's all I meant to say. (Yes we all had our part in it, in the past.)
