The organization that we knew won't be there any more. No circuit overseers? No Watchtower buildings in Brooklyn Heights? Almost unbelievable.
I am intrigued by the upcoming change from two to three visits per year by this new "Overseer" who will report to the District Overseer. It appears the D.O. will continue to make sure things are running in the circuits as Patterson Headquarters wishes, and if anything --three visits per year will actually increase rather than decrease the amount of central control over the local congregations.

Where did it all go wrong?
by THE GLADIATOR inbeing a jehovahs witness is getting easier with each worldly year that passes.
time is not getting shorter but meetings are, along with assemblies.
in my day the closing prayer lasted longer than the whole modern assembly.

Bonkers Conkers.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conkers
Conkers is a game traditionally played by children in Britain, Ireland and some former British colonies using the nuts of horse-chestnut trees – the name conker is also applied to the nut and to the tree itself. The game is played by two players, each with a conker threaded onto a piece of string: they take turns to strike each other's conker until one breaks.

Thank you, V. That is a valuable public service. If you have helped just one child of a JW to resist any early baptism, all this effort will have been worth it. I'm glad you included the appeal to search for answers about the organization. Maybe that encouragement is all someone needs.
JW's teach that baptism is the MOST important decision you make in your life, even more important than marriage. So why is it pushed on such young ones? Because they need to keep their membership numbers up. At some circuit assemblies, there are no adult new converts presenting themselves for baptism, but only children from JW families. It seems pathetic that an entire 30-minute baptism talk is directed to a couple of kids who look to be about 11 years old, but sometimes that has been happening.

My New Blog
by AllTimeJeff ini named it "superstition's antidote".
http://antidotesuperstition.blogspot.com/.
it won't be exclusively about jehovah's witnesses, but it will frequently have my take on this fruity little cult.

Do you believe in life after death?
by cameo-d indo you think we go on in "some form"?
do you believe we will be brought back to life in a similar body?
(would that be reincarnation or just a single resurrection?).

I think it's wishful thinking. It COULD be true, but why bet on it?
I know many people believe it's more peaceful to live with hope that this life is not all there is, and that our deceased loved ones are "up there" looking down on us.
But if this life really is all to it, it makes each day of this life (the one we KNOW we have) intensely important and meaningful. That's the way I have settled it in my mind.
If there is some after-life reality, I will embrace that reality when and if I experience it.

Conversation with an elder today!
by Maddie ini was at work today and low and behold an elder from the kh i used to go to came in.
i never got to know him very well but he always struck me as pleasant and mild mannered.
the thing is i stopped going to meetings over a year ago and am now, as i have already shared, being shunned by my jw son and his wife and can't see my beautiful little grand daughter any more.. i haven't officially dissassociated and not met with any elders but don't care what action they take as they can't do any more damage to me now.

Maddie, it was great that you tried to get him to see things from the viewpoint of one who's shunned:
I asked him if he realised how much pain and emotional damage was caused by being shunned and that it wasn't what Jesus taught people to be like. His reply was that he couldn't imagine what it must be as he had never experienced it!
Actually, it is practically the most inhumane thing one person can do to another in any relationship.
Notice this segment from the Wikipedia entry
Shunning contains aspects of what is known as relational aggression in psychological literature. When used by church members and member-spouse parents against excommunicant parents it contains elements of what psychologists call parental alienation . Extreme shunning may cause traumas to the shunned (and to their dependents) similar to what is studied in the psychology of torture .

Is the author SERIOUS?
4. Continued Separating of the sheep and the goats!
In talking with other witness in different parts of the United States is it very clear that there are two different reactions to the change going to take place in 2009 with our book studies.
The first group is so happy to have the extra night off to relax, watch television or go out to dinner and so on. They only hear what they want to hear and not the true reason for the change. These people will most likely not listen to the direction and do more personal study and we know Satan always go after the weak first.
The second group realizes the seriousness of the change and will heed the warnings given by Jehovah through the faithful slave. These ones will study harder and be prepared for the Fall of Babylon the Great! The sheep/goat separation is happening WITHIN the organization? That's a new one. I'd always heard that it was mainly the outside "world" that would be separated based on their response to the "Good News".
Secondly -- how is the separation work "continued", when according to most recent Watchtower doctrine, the separation hasn't even started yet? It's supposed to occur during the Great Tribulation.
It's funny that we apostates know the JW doctrine better than they do!
