  Jehovah's Witnesses - Trained to Argue

  although a cult, jehovah's witnesses should not be underestimated as to their smarts.

  sometimes, exiting jw's, due to indoctrination, feel a lot of guilt for leaving.

  of course, the governing body wouldn't have it any other way.. upon leaving, many for the first time feel a freedom to express themselves, which is as it should be.

  Not only are they trained to argue, but also to sell.

  I recall one time a guy who was having a study, he had been coming to Sunday meetings,
  but was attending his first School/Service meeting.

  Afterwards he said "You are trained to sell."
  Of course he was told we weren't.

  He said it had been like watching a business seminar.
  We were being trained to argue for and sell a product.
  To push the publications as much as possible.
  Having looked at the "School Guidebook" he said every thing in it was designed like a business manual, a guidebook to sell.
  There was nothing anything "spiritual" about the whole thing.

  He never came back.

  this is of course, speaking for me over 3 years after i left.

  i realize that if you are first leaving, this is a big deal.

  I agree with your original post. When a JW and the old 607/587 thing came up I also used to think the same way.

  How can the WT reject so many scholars, archaeologists etc who, to my mind, shows that 587/6 is the date.

  Then in the same breath use the same scholars etc, to prove another date.

  Its as if they were saying the scholars are right on every other single date in history except this one.

  That is one of the things that started me to think something wrong with WT.

  For about 2-3 years after I stopped going to meetings I never once received a Memorial invite, not even a phone call.
  I didn't even get a vist from an Elder never mind an invitation.

  Then after I DA'd nothing then, not surprising of course.

  i have just finished the book ''worldwide evil and misery'' by robin de ruiter.

  the book is about how approximately 300 men and unseen powers pull the strings and determine the fate of the world.

  the new world order govern our politics,business,social,and intellectual process.. on page 100 titled ''undermining the faith in christianity'', he writes that many destructive religious sects were formed in the nineteenth century by the clans of the rothschilds,warburgs,and rockefellers.

  parents typically take their daughters back to their country of origin for fgm during school holidays, but the independent on sunday has been told that "cutters" are being flown to the uk to carry out the mutilation at "parties" involving up to 20 girls to save money.

  I'm afraid its all very well saying more prosecutions.

  But as pointed out what you need is the help of the communities in which this occurs.

  And many of them are close knit or afraid to speak out.
  Also you need to change their views on FGM. They see it as part of their culture and way of life.
  You might as well try and tell Jews and Muslims to stop circumcision.

  If as the report says that "parties" are being held to do FGM unless word is given to the police who is to know.

  Also as we have seen in the news recently about "honour killings" you are dealing with a totally different way of life and culture.

  Facebook condemned

  my wife told me that at the last meeting, the elders announced that youngsters going to the skateboarding park were no longer to have any privileges in the congregation.

  this is to prevent jw youngs to be rounded up if a drug raid was made at the skateboarding park.. also because of individuals requesting that they be friends on facebook that contain bad pictures, that anyone with a facebook account will automatically have their privileges removed.. sounds like the pharasees protecting the people by adding additional traditions upon them.. .

  a thought has occured to me that could any book at all be used in the same way as the bible?

  could people read prohceys into it etc?.

  i remember the wilkie collins book " the moonstone" theres a character in that story who belives that reading robinson crusoe can predict the future, thus he reads it every day and claims on numerous occasions that the book was correct in its predictions!.

  When the "Bible Code" came out and there was all that fuss about a hidden code.

  Someone did exactly the same thing with "Moby Dick" to show that you could do it with any book.

  I met him at the "Aposta-curry" in Manchester.

  for those who believe in god, do you believe he has one true organization on earth?

  word of our intended slow fade has abruptly become a public knowledge.

  my husband was talking to his sister on the phone today, breaking the news to her and one thing she kept bringing up was that god has to have an organization on earth.
