It just blinked into my head!
The Watchtower Society fosters the creation of SOCIOPATHS!
What a stunning thought. I don't mean serial killers. I mean people who have no empathy for others because they
have no empathy for self. It makes a JW capable of feeling nothing for "goats" when they suffer calamity.
Terry
Exactly same thought I had after reading your first posting.
It was this that gave me the greatest difillculty after leaving the JWs. To be able to relate to others.
There was a still a sort of "them and us" attitude.
A JW is instilled with the idea also those "in the world" cannot be trusted.
So when a JW leaves they have to cope with not being able to deal with people socially,
but also with the fear that they are out to get them in some way.Even now after being out ten years, after 30 years as aJW, I still have some difficulty dealing with people, and I'm 59yrs old!!
Fortunately I have been around people who have helped me. Also that some of my family came out with me.

DESTROYING the Individual: the goal of Watchtower Authority
by Terry inthe governing body wants to disable individuality.
individuality is evidenced by self-expression.
no self...no expression of self.. personal desire leads to expression of personal desire.

Are JWs attracting more and more off-center people?
by undercover inthis thread is prompted by the thread about a jw woman who disprupted a funeral.
i don't know the details as i can't view youtube from work, but it did get me to thinking.... over the last couple of decades, at least, i've noticed that more and more 'fringe personalities', for a lack of a better term, have infiltrated the ranks of the everyday jws.
true, jws are themselves a fringe element to normal society, but even within their own communities, there used to be a sense of normalcy, or at least seemed to be.. has the cultic message of the wt society started attracting people with different thought processes over this time period?

Of the those that are baptised each year the majority are usually the children and/or family of JWs.
So is a lot of inbreeding among them going on?

Anyone know of a school in Britain that actually teaches Creationism?
I think they would be jumped on by the local authorites for not teaching "equality and diversity" in education.
Lets face it you can loose your job here for just wearing a cross round your neck.

Why does my Bull-S**t alert start flashing red ?
I know what you mean Wobble.
Have that feeling it will be something someone somewhere else has come up with.
Why is it that through all the years there are always those who think they have found "the answer" to the JWs.
How many times have we on this forum heard the same from others.
If its so damn good then post it so we can all go and show JWs and have them leaving in droves.
But I know the reaction of the majority of JWs will be "apostate lies" "Satanic teachings, demonic" etc.
If they can't even accept straightforward scripture showing them wrong, how ill this make any difference.
So come on lets have this wonderful teaching.

That confused me and I live in England, or is it the United Kingdom, or Britain
confused with new information perhaps?
Going back to what I posted at beginning of this thread. What new information?
I have just had to fill a government form in.
I can't put I was born in England ,
but I have to put down United Kingdom,
under nationality not English, I have to put British.
Otherwise it will get sent back to be correctly filled in.

I became a JW in 1971, and not because of 1975, Why?
Because the JWs I was associating with hardly even mentioned it.
The only time it was brought up was when the brother I was studying with brought it up about 6,000 years since mans creation ended in 1975.
And that it was no "Armageddon is going to happen then" , in fact in the 4 years to 1975 in the congregation it was rarely mentioned.
I was married in 1974 and we had out first child born in OCTOBER 1975 , not one JW ever said a thing about us having a child so "near the end".
Yet since I left 10 years ago I have met ex-JWs who say the opposite about their congregations,
it was like panic stations in some as 1975 drew closer.I have met those whose parents sold up homes and businesses, and moved to areas were they could preach before "the end."
I always say that in my old congregation we had Elders who had their heads screwed on, men who quietly kept things under control.
Which is probably why after 1975 we didn't lose any members, but continued to grow.
I'm sure many variations can be found round the congregations on how they took 1975.

The WT LIE re "Sign" of the "Generation"
by AGuest into the household of god, israel, and all those who go with... may you have peace!.
the following excerpt was posted from paragraph 14 of the wtbts article, "the holy spirits role in the outworking of jehovahs purpose":.
14 what does this explanation mean to us?

AGuest
I would take you a bit more seriously if it were not for the flowery, self-agrandisement way you write. As Follows:
To the Household of God, Israel, and all those who go with... may you have peace!
I am directed by the Holy Spirit, which Spirit is my Lord and Master, the Holy One of Israel, JAHESHUA MISCHAJAH, who is the Son and Christ of the MOST Holy One of Israel, JAH of Armies,
dear ones
Your servant, as I am servant to ALL those of the Household of God, Israel, and those who go with... and a slave of Christ,
I'm afraid when I read stuff like that it just makes me skip the whatever is written whether true or not. Its so cultish.

What happened to your marriage after you stopped believing?
by JerkhovahsWitless ini know some posters here went through or are going through some painful things right now because of no longer believing when they have a husband / wife that still does.
others were able to free the minds of their spouse.
i'm assuming the latter is a lot more rare.. anyone that wishes to share their story, please do.. i'm looking to pass the info on to someone who doesn't totally believe, but may marry a jw.

I had depression, Elders told wife to get me out of home, because I was a "spiritual danger" to family.
Four years on in 2001, after learning the truth about the Watchtower, I disassociated.
My wife and two daughters have not had contact with me since then.
One daughter got married last year , I was not invited to the wedding.
A son and another daughter also DA'd at same time.
Neither of them have contact with their mother or sisters either.
