  2010 Convention Rumor

  um... a witness sent me this in an email.

  it's going around as the rumored program, but there's no proof.. if it is real though...is very last one symbolic?

  who had a child molester in their congregation ?

  i have done this thread a long time ago , but a few newbies have joined recently and may have had some experiances to share , there was 2 in the congregation i was involved with (i was a "study" ) one was from bethel in america and got deported after his prison sentence and the other was reprooved for abuse then carried on abusing in the congregation , years later he abused my daughter and after i found out i reported him to the police , but he had got off "scot free" for 20 years untill i reported him .

  i believe the one from bethel was reported to the police simply because elders kids were affected ..

  There was a family in my old congregation who suddenly moved away.
  In fact I and my family knew them well, the father was an Elder.
  My wife was best friend of the wife.

  I lost touch with them after I had left.

  They had a son, maybe about 16, at the time.
  Even my own daughter told me later, this son was known as the "child molester" among the other kids.
  They moved about 200 miles away.

  Say about 4-5 years on, through a JW I knew, I heard that this young guy had married a JW sister who had a young boy.
  After about six months , she caught him abusing her young boy.
  She called the police.
  Consequently all hell broke loose, and lots of bad publicity for the JWs in the area.

  Later turns out that this young guy was friendly with another JW who was exposed as a paedophile.
  By the name of Porter, he had been doing it for 14 years.
  Also had been an Elder at Mill Hill congregation in London.

  Forgot to add

  In a recent mail from an old JW friend.

  When he was an Elder, he discovered a paedophile in his congregation.
  The guy was even a Min Servant.
  The other Elders knew, but hadn't told my friend , or anyone else.

  My friend told London Bethel, they sent someone up to sort it out.
  (I always mean to ask why didn't he tell the police?)
  The guy was removed , can't remember if the DF'd him as well.
  The other Elders then refused to have anything to do with my friend.
  So he eventually left, never went to a meeting again.

  That was about 4-5 years ago.

  Anyway he went to this years Memorial.
  Not in his old KH but another local one.
  And there was the paedophile.
  A Min Servant again.
  Also serving the bread and wine.

  My friend said it made him feel sick.

  when still in the watchtower, i used to be an assistant ministerial servant.

  true, there is no such title but its there unofficially for those one step to being a ministerial servant.

  been with it for about three years.

  I was Literature Servant for all that time.

  What year Did you Stop Attending Meetings - How Long were you a JW ?

  i'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.

  and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.

  so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .

  I was first contacted by JWs in March 1971, I was 20.

  I was baptised 9th. January, 1972.

  I stopped attending meetings August 1999.

  I disassociated in September 2001.

  Though before that I had been baptised as a Christain on 6th. January,2001.

  Nearly 29 years to the day I was baptised a JW.

  This week I had a letter from an old JW friend.

  He left when he discovered a paedophile in his congregation, who was also a Min Servant, that was abou 4-5 years ago.

  The other Elders knew about the guy, but didn't tell my Elder friend.!!

  My friend told London Bethel.
  They sent people up and sorted it.
  Elders were censured, and the guy removed, can't recall if he was disfellowshipped.
  Because of what he had done, the Elders refused to have anything to do with my friend.
  So he eventually left.

  Anyway my friend went to this years Memorial at a different local congreation than what was his original.
  He saw many old faces he knew.

  Including the paedophile.

  Who was now again a Min Servant and was one of the servers of the bread and wine.

  My friend said it made him feel sick.

  As a Witness were you allowed to eat Easter eggs AFTER Easter and only if smashed up first??

  my favourite was a humpty dumpty full of mm's....but we could only buy them after easter and if we broke them up....my mothers orders.....tonnes of half price eggs after easter..

  How many DF'ed on this board have actually had...

  how many disfellowshipped ones on this board have actually had follow up elder visits "encouraging" them to return to the meetings?.

  i have been df'ed for 15 years now, and i have never had one visit (i am not saying that is a bad thing!

  ) from an elder encouraging me to return to the organization.

  I stopped attending meetings. It was 2 years before any visit, and that was for something else.

  I then DA'd , no call, this year was first time in 10 years even had a Memorial invite posted through door.

  I'm going to return the favour and post through the doors of JWs I know,
  invites, to my church services for Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
  Or I may go up to the Kingdom Hall on Tuesday night and put them on the cars windows.

  My Testimony TV Program

  just to let you know that on tuesday 16th march will be in london.. to record my testimony about being a jw etc.. i will be interviewed by doug harris of reachout trust.. .

  it will be for the satellite tv channel revelation/genesis tv.. the program is called "testimony time" its about 30 mins long.. not sure when they will broadcast it but here are the times the program is usually on.. .

  Youtube video asking them "Are All JW's Ordained Ministers?"

  the youtuber, publishingcult says to download and share the videos, so i am sharing.. this is a part 2, but a stand-alone video.

  he asks jw's if they are ordained ministers.. the answers blow away the "unity" of the members.

  i may try this when stranger jw's approach me and say "why do i get different answers?".

  Here in the UK, I recall many years ago there was a thing about who was an "ordained minister" in the JWs.

  It went from we all were, then it was only Min Servants and Elders, then back to we all were.

  Then it was decided that for the legal side only Elders in congregations were considered "ordained ministers".

  The local authority had two Elders registered as "The Right Reverend" and "Reverend"

  One of our brothers who was a lawyer said that its up to any religious organisation to decide who they called an "ordained minister".
