We all know the WTS has its own set of words and expressions that make them unique and sets them a part from other organizations. Lets see how many we can come up with. I'll start
1. Field service
2. Return visit

i have stopped.
it brings up too many memorys of having some elder pray for the cong before we partook of any food.
it just seemd like a big production, all would gather around and bow heads in silence while some senior male gave thanks- no more- no thanks
Thanks to all, some wonderful thoughts and insight. I hope that one day I will be able to internalize and vocalize some positive thoughts, and thankfulness. I have been out only 3 months from the WT cult so I find it hard to show thanks. Perhaps it is still too fresh. Iam so pissed off.
one way i was pressured:.
people were gonna die if i didn't convert them....
When my son turned 18 and was still not baptized they told us to kick him out of the house. We told them no and to mind your business. That did not go over well with the elders.
anything as long as it has nothing to do with jws.
god, i'm tired of hearing about them.
(yes, yes, i realize this is an anti-jw site, but i don't care.
I planted a wildflower garden today. I also collect. I collect Belleck. It is Irish porcelain china. I get the limited editions. The fewer they made the better.
at the suggestion of my sis named dinah ( thanks dinah ) we thought it would be good to invite newbies , lurkers , or any others junior members etc.
to tell their stories of how they got out of the jehovah's witnesses or what you dealt with before getting out of which you had to overcome !
life is hard- we all have our stories , but on this board are many caring people who will be here for you if you need a soft place to land after being controlled by the jehovah's witnesses mindset.
I have learned a lot about myself in the past few months since leaving the WT. I have read ,read, and read. At the present time Iam reading Steven Hassens book, Combating Cult Mind Control. I learned that one of the reasons I got sucked into the cult was because I was at a very vulnerable time in my life. My father died, and 3 days later my mother in law died, and 3 days later grandma died. Also, My son was born only a few months before. My mother discovered she had MS 3 months after my dad died. She deterioted fast so she could not take care of my little sister. She was 11. My husband and I took her in and you talk about stress. I was only 25 years old, had an 18 month old, a newborn and an 11 year old sister to take care of as well as a sick mother. The JW came around and they were so sweet, nice and caring. They had me right where they wanted me. I got sucked into the cult for 20 years. Now- Free at last
just my presence there would be a great april fools joke on so many levels.
I know you are joking but I do wonder how some are able to attend after they have woken up to the JW crap. I cannot even drive by the kingdom hall without my skin crawling.
"we are not like those of the world!".
"if jehovah was looking at you could he tell the difference between you and a wordly youth?
every f'ing time a brother gives a talk for the youth in my hall in seems he always brings up these two phrases.
Brainwashing. The JW have the mentality of being better than everyone else. They love to put themselves up on a pedestel. Its "Them against The Wordlings"
We got plenty of complaints. The hall I just left had some very loud, unruley kids. They would run into the parking lot after the meeting and just yell, scream and carry on. Most of the kids belonged to elders and servents. If you said anything to them the parent gave the evil eye.It did not stop me-, I grabbed one brat one time and held on tight and marched that brat to his father. The little brat ran into a 78 year old sister and I caught her before she fell.
how often did you have to talk yourself into going out?.
how often did you wait till the end of the month to get some time in?.
how often did you fudge your time?.
Excellent posts to all. Thank you for your imput. It seeems we all feel pretty much the same about f. svc-could not stand it. My big question to myself is, why did I stick around for so many years (20)? The only viable ansewer I have come up with is fear. They would say you will be destroyed and so will your children if the end comes and you are not faithful.

After you finished your day in service (or hour) you felt emotionally exhausted?
I always had to talk myself into it, could not stand service
end of the month-often
sometimes I fudged my time esp as I knew I was fading
totally exhausted and sometimes anxious too
