meryl, as ever, is superb in her part, but everybody in this film is soo good.. did you think this was a whitewash, to make us feel sorry for the priests who were found out - in those cases on little more than hunches?.

do you think there is a reason that the principal (meryl) is portrayed as a twisted bitch?.

i found by the end that i liked her more than the priest.. hb.

Good movie, Merrill was fantastic. I grew up Catholic and went to Catholic School. The era they shot this movie in was the same time I attended grade school (yes, Iam a bit old) and they got it right. I have some stories to tell about the priests as well as some of the nuns I was exposed to(no pun intended).

Marrying 'Outside of the Lord"

i have a situation that i am going thru mostly alone.

my 23 yo daughter who lives on her own is getting married to an 'unbeliever'.

her father and i have been divorced for 13 yrs now and live with my mother who is up in years.

I understand the hurt you are feeling for your daughter. Her father should be there for his daughter. This is a very special time in her life. It will be his loss and Iam sure your daughter will need you now more than ever. Be happy that both of you are out of that cult and your daughter and possable future grandchildren(not trying to be pushy, ha) will have a normal life with the JW's not interferring and controling them. Support your daughter, listen and just be you. She will understand.

Did you like the name "Jehovah's Witnesses"?

or did you wish the religion had a more mainstream name?

i can remember a "worldly" schoolmate telling me he wouldn't object to the religion so much if the name didn't sound so weird..

I was always uncomfortable with the name. It bothered me most when we would be at someones door and they would ask, What religion are you? It was hard to say, We are Jehovah's Witnesses. I was sooooooooooooooo uncomfortable with it.

Tornado

well, tuseday night was a scary night.

the f4 tornado tore through my little town killing 8 people.

i am so sad over this.. luckily, my house is ok but it passed only about 1/4 mile or less away from me.

So sorry for what you wentr through. The local cong of JW's will be knocking on doors this weekend citing "critical times hard to deal with". Jerks!! They need to roll up thier sleeves and really help.
