Classic.
thanks for the laugh.
okay, this embarassing experience was at work, and not the door ... but the effect was the same.
i was working at the 300 area on the hanford reservation near richland, washington ... i was working on the fast flux test facility ... or as one news reporter accidently put it, the fast fux test facility ... anyway, one of the fun nuke projects there at hanford.. .
i had not gotten around to telling my co-workers that i was a jw.
Classic.

I did. And got a few surprises. Found a cousin, and some long-lost uncle. Google, is god.
some here may have noticed that recently teejay and i got into it a little bit on a thread i started about the locking of threads.
about two years ago teejay and i got into it a few times in other threads.
as much as i thought teejay was an intelligent guy and i have always gotten a kick out of his sarcastic sense of humor i still thought he loved to stir things up and take a few unnecessary jabs at people simply for the sake of jabbing them and causing trouble.. teejay called me tonight.
When we've made up our minds that a poster is a 'troll' and go ahead to attack the poster, not 'tolerating' such poster, and it turns out that the 'troll' was a disturbed person venting, what to do? Have we acted rightly? We haven't. Isn't it part of the 'concept of a discussion' board to take into consideration what might be? What is the 'concept of a discussion board'?
if we want to worship god acceptably, we must know the truth.
this is an important issue.
our eternal happiness depends on it.
Scholar,
when you mention 'integrity' wrt to the COC book and it's author, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean that the contents, substance of the book portray the author as lacking 'integrity', or do you refer to somemething else?
Do you doubt that the COC book exposes some 'truth' about the organization which you've beena member of since 1964?
Per your qualifications, I'm assuming BA stands for Bachelor of (the) Arts, or sth like that. What does 'AM' stand for?
us anti-abortionist faces execution
the first man to face the death penalty in the united states for killing a doctor who performed abortions is to be executed on wednesday.
paul hill, 49, is due to die by lethal injection in northern florida, following his conviction of the murder of two people outside an abortion clinic in 1994. .
Abaddon said:
despite the fact that this guy’s actions were despicable, I can’t approve of his death by execution. If killing is wrong, killing is wrong; the minute you move away from this simple logic you get into areas where you have to make moral compromisesI thought that it was well worth repeating.
Englishman.
Abaddon, you conveniently sidestep the question about killing in self-defence. "If killing is wrong, killing is wrong" is a fatally flawed argument; like many such simple logic, it is also simply wrong.
If someone is such a danger to society (i.e. someone who did the crime and is liable to reoffend), then life imprisonment makes society safe from that person.
Except that such a person continues to murder other prison inmates and prison guards, eh?

i am starting a new thread so folks do not have to search through several pages of posts to find this image.
the original thread was here.
i received the following fax this morning from my old isp(dirtclod.com was coincidentally moved the same day i received notice regarding this copyright infringement for bandwidth purposes) and was seven pages in length.
Good, Jourles. Let them write some more and choke themselves.
The fire a letter to you at that speed! The same hypocrites take half a year to attend to a 'spiritual' matter. Offspring of vipers. Hypocrites.
apostate logical fallacies part 2 of 2
in my first essay on common fallacies former jehovahs witnesses commit in reference to the society i explained the error of generalizing individual witness behavior to that of the entire society.
the other errors i notice (to a certain degree i realize they are my opinions) are related to this, yet somewhat different.
Words like “evil, wicked, liars, etc.” are strong language. Hitler was an evil man. Stalin was a wicked man. Bill Clinton was a liar (sort of). But, when we start to apply words like this to the Society we may – note MAY – be making a mistake. I honestly cannot say that the GB are all liars or evil or whatever other terrible thing you can think of. Again, the human condition is very complex and these men have spent their whole lives living out a deeply ingrained fantasy. They really believe it! I think this must be taken into account before passing judgment on someone.
Really? The men on the GB have proved themselves to be wicked men. They have taken collective decisions that have harmed people, decisions that were glaringly inconsistent with their own declared sense of right and wrong. I refer specifically to the treatment of the Malami brothers, and connect that to the similar matter of Mexico. Just how many policies, how many deaths make a bunch or men wicked? Do they have to expressly shoot people before you see the point? I hope you'll be able to say a word or two about Malawi/Mexico, and explain how the decisions of the men involved in that betrayal was not evil. I'll be glad to see how you wrap their human condition around it, and unwrap the human condition of the men and women who lost their lives because of that wacked policy. It would be good, to boot, to see the justification that because a man actually believes in something, and knows it's the best for another, he is absolved of wrongdoing irrespective of the effects of definite actions he took in furtherance of his belief.
