What credentials? You want to see Phd. DSc. Dqe? Or what? Farkel just said above: arguments stand and fall on their own. I've seen criticisms of Dr. Jerry Bergman, especially the ones GermanJW highlighted in his first post. It's something about credentials. It's also about the quality of research. Since Dr. Bergman has come on this board, he's in the kitchen, and should be ready to take the heat. But people should be kind with words and maintain good decorum. German JW's post contain some information about Dr. Beiser. If you wish to know more about him, type his name in a search engine; you should speak some German though...

That's beside the point! The fact is that God DOES have a name, and it isn't "LORD". To use the word "LORD" in place of the thousands of times where the Tetragrammaton appears in the Scriptures is outright dishonesty because to do so CHANGES the original text. The LEAST any translator should do here is leave the word un-translated, with an explanation somewhere as to the reason why.

The TRUTH is that the word "LORD" does not accurately represent any form of the name ever used in Hebrew. The TRUTH is that the word "LORD" hides the fact that God does indeed have a name. The TRUTH is that the word "Jehovah" preserves the original text because it retains the four letters that are positively known to be there thousands of times over. The TRUTH is that the WTBTS does not claim that the word "Jehovah" is a perfect representation of the divine name.

The TRUTH TM is that the WTS claims to know the name of God.

Yadirf, see, you could say anything to your dog, Friday, and he'll give you a look that says "eh, that was smart; y'know, I couldn't have thought about that". But that's your dog. You embarass those brothers in good standing who visit this board. You must look for new arguments.

i'm curious to know if anyone has noticed different behavior from their dub family and friends since the aug. km about disfellowshipped ones.

i've noticed that my mother is no longer emailing me, nor is she responding to my emails.

i really wish that she would just come out directly and state that she will no longer talk to me instead of just ignoring everything, thinking i will go away.

And in peculiar JW-speak, Mr. Klar hasn't told a lie. Nothing would happen to him. May be he meant physically; and then he would be right. He might even mean spiritually, if he doesn't believe the whole crap, but that's one he won't let his brothers know. Only he han't yet mastered the art, not even Mr. J.R. Brown has. He could've done away with the "at all"... and of course, his brothers would speak to him, his elder-brothers that is. They would ask what has come over him. They would come along and speak to him, asking why he doesn't want to be a JW anymore. May be once, or twice, and then he may repent in dust and ashes, and he's back... Liar man.

Silentlambs March: Controversal Idea?

this is a controversial post because it relates to your personal grooming & dress.

problem: jr brown & watchtower have managed to create an image problem for bill bowen & silentlambs.

in jw land he isn't a victims advocate, he is simply a deceitful apostate.

The march is as much for the world, as it is for the JWs on the inside. It is an important point. JWs will be watching. And it's not just true that all of them will critisize no matter how "well" dressed the marchers are. Dressing like the march is for the world and not the JW is definitely not a good tactic. Regular JWs will at least listen to those they consider to have some "ethics", and dressing is a strong point with them. That door shouldn't be shut. The general public will get the message, a few JWs deserve the chance too.

In my discussions with loya JWs, it has been amazing to see that many don't realize that the core of the doctrine about the use of blood derives form Gen 9:4. This might be due to the Society gradually distancing itself from explaining things based on the Noachian command, with the benefit of the hindsight of JW practices with regard to blood and blood products. It becomes increasingly difficult, for instance, to state that "The Bible is very clear that blood could properly be used only on the altar; otherwise it was to be poured out on the ground. (Lev. 17:11-13)" and still be able to explain why albumin and other so called tiny fractions of fractions of blood are acceptable. I may not be up to date about this, but it seems the Society has almost succeeded in de-anchoring the position on blood from Noah.

not true about Africans not wanting to mention names. Not true. Watchtower people wrote the article in the standard style. That couldnt have been this sad mans style. Africans will mention their children, whether for good or for bad, but Watchtower decides they are dead since they didnt learn the truth.

NEW JW POLICY POSTED!!!

i don't know if anyone has posted on this already but there is a new press release at http://www.jw-media.org/releases/default.htm?content=bg_molestation.htm that defines the current jw policy and i believe it has taken a step in the right direction!.

although they have not literally changed it to require reporting to the authorities in all states, they have finally put into print the following: "additionally, the victim may wish to report the matter to the authorities, and it is his or her absolute right to do so.".

i am glad to see, straight from the wt, acknowledgement that the adults involved have every right to go to the police.

The article said: "For the protection of our children, a man known to have been a child molester does not qualify for a responsible position in the congregation. Moreover, he cannot be a pioneer [full-time missionary of Jehovah's Witnesses] or serve in any other special, full-time service." He would not qualify Scripturally. (1 Timothy 3:2, 7-10) We take such action because we are concerned with maintaining Bible standards and protecting our children.

Wicked Hypocrites!

Meaning: The child molester is not good enough for the congregation but is good enough to preach to worldlings, Armageddon fodder. Hypocrites.

for the most part jehovahs witnesses are viewed in their communities as law abiding citizens and neighborly.

most of us would never imagine that this religious organization of people teach and promote a theology which, in effect, sacrifices lives, even of children.

Can any Jehovah Witness provide a Biblical text or Biblical argument that teaches something so absurd as “Upon pain of death or shunning, we must avoid THIS from blood but we need not avoid THAT from blood”?

Where are the blood-transfusion-is-a-sin Jehovah's Witnesses?
