  CYP: thoughtful post.

  I recall how I'd've acted were I the visiting JW; how quickly many of us forget. Posts like these are needed to set people straight and hammer ideas like these into minds. We all know what scathing, intense opposition leads to for the JW: confrimation that they're doing exactly ehat's right, and that what the WTS has predicted would happen has come true. We must not let that happen. For me, I tecd to draw a clear distinction between the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society on the one hand, and members of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses on the other hand; many/most of those of the second deserve to be treated with kid gloves; but the wolves of the first may occassionaly deserve heavy pounding.

  WTS vs Quotes: Requiem for a Research Web Site

  in compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".

  the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).

  my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

  What can we do about QUOTES.COM?

  words fail me in describing my anger at the arrogance and truly evil scheming by the wt against quotes.

  please discuss here how this site helped you, and what we can do to set up mirror sites from offshore isp's.. pm me if necessary.. quotes really helped me in my search, and i want it to be there for searchers.. .

  Important Question regarding transfer of Quotes site to WTS

  someone with more 'tech' knowledge needs to answer this for us.. the wt has current control of the quotes.watchtower.ca website.

  if they put something on it to forward requests to view to the 'real' wt site can they look at and trace back ip addresses to us.. if it is yes then the next thing we will see is the lawyers sending lawsuits to isp's thru-out the country wanting the names of those individuals.. or am i really paranoid on this one.. let them come after me i really don't care at this point in time.

  but i would rather have this happen on my timeline and not theirs.

  Over 160,000 Simply Left The "Truth" Last Year

  that was the comment that a former elder made at the local meeting today in his comment.

  evidently, he and his wife heard a bethel speaker's comment during his talk say that (i believe the figure was) 167,000 people did not get disfellowshipped but simply left.

  the ex-elder made it a point to say that the elders should be watching to help out the flock before they up and leave.

  Is someone able to expatiate on the original statement by the elder?

  Is this the number of people who dissociated themselves?

  Does this number include inactive people?

  Doe sit mean those publishers the Organisation isn't able to account for?

  160,000 is a big number, even if it's less than 3% of the total JW population.

  i asked a witness and he gave me these answers.

  Lime, what does it matter that God knows who they are? god may know, but He sure doesn't appear to be telling the Governing Body. The GB made the claim, they should be up to proving it. Why may this be important? It should be interesting to know who the Slave was at about 1850, or 1860, or up to 1900. Do you see this? How was that baton of responsibility passed around until it rested on the GB of Jehovah's Witnesses. And then, there remains the matter of what they were teaching when they claimed that were given that authority in 1919. Almost everything they taught in 1919 is now discarded; can God be responsible for that? Or, was Jesus fooled?

  i came across this test of perception.

  this is not a joke, nor one of those screaming videos which make your heart stop.

  take the test... most likely 70-80% of you will answer incorrectly, showing your own likelihood of making mistakes.

  I counted 13 or 14; minimum 13, maximum 14 ('first pass').

  startingover: it appears you didn't instruct that the sequence be watched once :)

  leolaila: how many times did you view the video? AlmostAtheist: excellent info about your experience; your observations are consistent with published research. You probably wouldn't've missed it were you to be counting passes by the black shirts; most people (perhaps >55% or so) 'll miss the G the first time when they're counting passes by the men in white; it's called "Inattentional Blindness" (IB)...

  There's a 2000 Harvard paper on this research.
