Drw- I guess it's been a combination of things. Doubts he already had, me, the internet, elders not promoting him to MS even though they keep hinting at it, his dad not being reinstated cause of his mental issues, etc. Plus, he came on this forum and spoke with Mr. Flipper on the phone before.
I must say that's it's been a very long road threading very carefully...

Farkel - I brought that scripture up and said, "if you google JWs, shouldn't there be a ton of websites stating how loving they are?" He said, "Yeah, it's the whole d'fing thing that ruining that. They really should let people talk to family members". His father is d'fed and so it really is personal with him. However, his dad is physophrenic so he's allowed to talk to his dad. He doesn't think his dad should be d'fed because he can never show his repentance because of his mental condition. He also doesn't think he should have been baptised or d'fed because of it... He said he's going to talk to the CO next time he comes around. He's not very happy about it... There's a lot to it, maybe I'll start a new thread...
Like Mary brought up, what are his thoughts on the "Bible" Study right now on blood?
He's never agreed with the whole fractions thing. He said that's raised a lot of red flags with him and for the life of him he said he just doesn't get it and it doesn't make any sense.

I actually had a similar experience with my JW sister this morning about the blood doctrine. Since the ban on transfusions is hitting home with them now, they're really feeling the heat and are wiling to accept it if it means saving my b-i-l's life. Still, it's hard on them as they've been taught their whole life that Jehovah will murder you for taking a transfusion. I called Crooklyn yesterday (yes I blocked my number) and asked to speak to someone about the blood doctrine. I had my project sitting in front of me and I asked the brother several questions, pointed out their flawed reasoning (ie. if the ban on blood was for everyone on earth, why were the Israelites allowed to sell unbled meat to foreigners? How is 'pouring out the blood of a dead animal to make atonement for the life that was just taken even remotely similar to taking blood from a live human to save another humans' life, etc.) The dipshit had absolutely no rebuttal for me and simply urged me to "wait on Jehovah" and that if anything needs to be changed, He'll do so through the "faithful and discreet slave".
My sister was actually quite glad that I told her as she's realizing more and more that the Slobbering Body members are a bunch of scum-sucking vampires who are literally sucking the life out their followers.
That' great! I hope bil gets better and they get outta that cult.
I actually dared hubby at the mtg last night to raise his hand and say, "So, clearly, the symbol of life is much more important then life itself." He wouldn't do it...

He was also watching a lot of youtube videos. One thing that really struck him was how LaToya said that MJ came up to him after the elders counceled him and said he could no longer talk to him and then how after MJ went up to a worldly guy and got what was really good advice in my hubbys eyes.
I knew something was going on because he was running really late to the meeting on Sunday and then stopped at Dunkin Donuts for a coffee on the way, lol.
So, last night after the meeting this is how our conversation went:
Hubby: Brother PO patted me on the back last night. He's still dangling that carrot in front of me but I really don't care anymore. (Meaning he's dangling the carrot of letting him be an MS.)
Cognac: Is it a weight off your shoulders?
Hubby: Yeah, it's nice to know they don't have anything over me anymore. So and so is an MS and he has tons of talks he has to do. That's work. I don't want that. Did you notice I didn't wear my jacket?
Cognac: Yeah, but didn't think much about it. Why?
Hubby: Because I wanted to show the elders that I didn't care.
Hubby: Started talking about the whole LaToya and MJ thing and said that he doesn't "know what he's about to say is apostate or not, but he thinks the whole disfellowshippig thing is crap. You should always be able to talk to your family. Maybe not about spiritual things, but you should always be able to talk to them."
Cognac: You know, the same thing could happen with us and our daughter.
Hubby: I won't raise her that way.
Cognac: Yeah, but if she goes to the meetings, she could very well be indoctrinated there and whatever we do may not make a difference. What if she were to get disfellowshipped one day?
Hubby: I'd still talk to her.
Cognac: You could get disfellowshipped.
Hubby: I don't care. But I would still go to the meetings.
Cognac: They would never reinstate you though because you are not repentent because you talk to your daughter.
Hubby: I don't care.
He also said that the whole dfing thing is what is bringing down the JWs because its making people see that the JWs are not loving people. Ok, that's about all I can remember.
PS. Before we even had our daughter we agreed we would take her to the meetings for a couple of years and let her decide if she wanted to go or not. What 3 or 4 year old would want to go to the meeting? I'm just giving my hubby time before I stop bringing our daughter there altogether. I know that some of you probably don't agree with what I am doing, but what I am doing is working for my particular situation. And we also agreed before I got pregnant to celebrate the holidays as long as we call them a different names. Although, since we decided that he told me there is nothing wrong with celebrating the 4th of July and Thanksgiving.
