  i was angry with my kid for questioning me.

  i work, i pay the bills, i provide food, clothing and shelter for them.

  instead of respect, i get attitude.

  I want to add that I know it's hard for a parent to not feel they are getting the respect they deserbe when they have made countless sacrifices for their children.

  I think that it's really a great and humble thing for you to get outside opinions for clarity in the situation. Not the easiest thing to be a parent and just the fact that you came here shows you care and are probably normally a really wonderful, loving parent.

  Imo, you made a mistake. We all do. I wish you the best.

  I'd say that's abusive. It could be worse, and we do say things out of anger sometimes. But, it was an abusive thing to say.

  I would definately apologize.

  Kids ask why because there brains and still growing and developing. I believe its common because that is how they figure things out when they don't have as much life experience as adults do.

  They just don't understand so it's easy for us to lose patience. But, it's still wrong and you should, imo, apologize.

  tell us a little about yourself and your family.. my mother joined the frenzy when the end of the world was coming in 1975. her sister-in-law was first recruited and got her in.

  when the end didnt come, mom was disfellowshipped shortly afterward, but she went back a few years later.

  i did not care to go with her.

  Going to meeting tonight.

  going to my first meeting in i think about 6 months or so.

  i'm going because my son has a talk the bible reading.

  anyway how weird to go to a place where everything is so foreign now.

  what is the proof it should be there?.

  i've brought up to jws that revelation says not to take anything out or you will get the second death.. but they are ok with it because they compare it to not using the book of thomas, mary, etc.. what would you say to that?.

  Im not sure how much longer i can take this

  i kind of snapped at my wife today...for no reason really.

  and in my frustration ive been contemplating just spilling the beans...i know its not the best idea but i do t know how much longer i can lead a double life and hide the truth.

  as i still believe in god i feel like a hypocrite.

  Upon finding out TTATT, I immediately snapped and flipped out telling my husband it was a cult and everything. Did go over very well but I've never regretted it.

  Phizzy- thank you for your help. If I'm understanding this correctly, it was in the final canon when it was closed in the 4th century whereas the book of Mary and Thomas were not in that version?

  blondie- they don't have different sized bibles.

  Advise needed please

  dear forumites, i need your advise please.. i would like to write a letter to the world headquarters of the jehovah's witnesses regarding a subject that i've published an article recently.

  i would like to draw the attention of the gb to said article, which i will send in print form (therefore, no attention would be drawn to the website where it was published).. naturally, because i am a jehovah's witness in good standing in the congregation and what i'll be discussing in my letter will be a dissenting view from the official doctrine/practice, i want to protect my identity and i don't want to be harassed by elders or subjected to any sort of judicial investigation.

  nevertheless, i would be very interested in reading their response (if any) to my letter.. how can i do that?

  All they have to do is put the first semtence or two of your article in quotes and google will direct them straight to your website.
