  here on jwd we have spent many words on jw doorpeddling.

  even the use of pepperspray has been put into play.

  however, there's a new toy out there that cannot be seen, smelled but felt!

  Whew a bit of overkill, you would need to see them coming from a distance. Personally I don't like anything that would cause pain to them. They are not BAD and I know how boring it is to have to go from door to door to save your soul. Don't tell Brenda Lee about this one LOL

  I haven't had anyone come to my door since I moved to this small town in Ontario. I kind of wish that they would so I could preach to them..

  When I was in toronto they were coming around every month. I had a intercom system there and always told them from inside without answering the door that I was in the shower ;-) I didn't know then all this stuff I have learned recently about all the deception and pedophiles.

  It is snowing like a bastard!!!....

  .....in ohio started yesterday and isn't supposed to stop until tomorrow morning.

  when i see this kind of weather it makes me think of the absurd policy of the borg that the sisters must always dress in a skirt for field service.

  can you imagine having snow blowing up your skirt at 40 mph????.

  Alpaca I bet you wish you were back in Florida right now.

  As I said on another post, we have tons of snow, had about 15 inches last night. Have been shoveling and plowing for hours and still haven't made a dent. Doesn't help that we have two driveways and 3 decks.

  The worst of it is that here in Kawartha Lakes Ontario the snowplows are on strike and have been for 3 weeks. So our streets don't get plowed. Need a 4 wheel drive or a snowmobile to get out today. UGH.

  Very interesting and well written article. Not often a doctor writes an article like that.

  I am a grandmother of identical twin boys who were healthy but born 2 months premature by C section because they were in the same sac and would have strangled each other if they were to go to full term. So this article was very interesting to me.

  Thankfully the Court intervened and saved the boys life, Or he would be dead now. It just makes me sick that a religion can do this to people and that they obediently go along with this interruptation of the Bible.

  they are no exaggeration - things really are not great and people around us all seem to be talking about whether to leave or not.

  and for the first time, we are amongst those talking about leaving - debating whether or not we would be able to give up life here and start over somewhere else.

  Is there some information about your present government situation that you could share with US. A URL or something. I am interested in knowing what is going on there. Who is in Power and how that affects things.

  I have heard South Africa is a BEAUTIFUL country. But unfortunately its ruined with power and greed and diversity. I am so sorry you might have to leave your Homeland. If it keeps you safe I think its important to leave.

  Another Snow Storm

  Totally agree with how you feel. I am so so so sick of snow, we have had it coming down since November 15th and it just doesn't stop. There is NO where to put the snow now the snow banks are so high

  We just got about 15 inches MORE last night. We have a snow blower but had to get a tractor with a blower on it to plow the driveway this morning.

  Also the township is on strike here for the last 3 weeks. They won't plow the side roads or town streets, (the main roads are plowed by Provincial). So our streets in town are in a horrible mess, and the garbage truck won't come either because the streets aren't plowed.

  Today its really cold and sunny and windy, I am just totally fed up with WINTER!!!!!!!

  truly an amazing artist and songwriter of our time has been van morrison .

  from the time he started in the 60's till today, he continues to pump out soulful, bluesy, great tunes, not only as a vocalist, but as an accomplished musician as well !

  Your funny stories of being a JW

  i was just thinking that maybe to lighten it up a bit and we could talk about our funny stories about being in the jw religion.

  i thought it would be fun to read.. some of my favorities:.

  running a block and a half from dogs when i was about 8.. letting all my note cards when i was giving a talk fall to the floor.. tripping over the stairs as i participated in a demonstration.. laughing out loud in a talk and not being able to stop until i went to the bathroom.. having a fit of coughing that disrupted the entire meeting.

  I can't honestly think of anything funny that happened to ME personally, it was all very boring and grim growing up as a JW, But saying that I do remember one funny thing that stuck in my mind over all these years.

  My Dad used to study the bible with this young man near Perth Ontario. He was severely handicapped, not sure if he had Muscular Dystrophy or Cerebal Palsy but he was all twisted up and talked with a slur and walked all jerky. Poor guy was the sweetest person on earth though. I was about 14 then and hated going to this study not because of him but because he lived in this shack with his Mom and Dad and countless relatives. The floors were dirt in some places, it was just filthy inside and smelled greasy, I was afraid to sit down on anything and when you came out of the place you reeked of grease and whatever. The relatives of this poor guy hated the JW's but allowed him to study because it was the only attention he was getting from anyone. Probably why he was studying. Plus he didn't know how to read so we had to teach him to do that which was a bonus for him. Anyway this one day we went for a study and there was cows and chickens running around in front of the house free, it was all muddy all around the house and full of cow dung etc. His older sister came in and started making a apple pie, she was a very mouthy type and she was yelling at the others in the house mindless of us trying to study, she had the door open and in comes a cow into the house. She didn't seem to mind but because we were there she shooed it out slapping it on the rear end to get it out. Then she continued to make the pie without washing her hands....she stuck her bare hand (not a spoon) into a bowl of butter and slapped a gob of it on top of the pie before putting the crust on. the pie came out of the oven baked before we left and she offered us a piece. No thank you we said.

  Ok It was funny to me, but wish we had video then, it would be hillarious.

  I absolutely used to LOVE Leonard Cohen but haven't listened to him lately. This certainly revived my interest, thanks for pointing this OUT.

  I love Suzanne and I'll take Manhattan.... and much more. I haven't heard the Hallelujah one before, it was nice but not the best of his songs. Looking at those videos on you tube he was Much Younger in them than now,

  I am going to pull out my CDs of him and Listen to him tonight by the Fireplace.

  i had an idea last night and thought i would see how others feel about it.. i would just love to know if there are members of jwd in my area.

  unfortunately like so many others i cannot give too much away as i am still "in" for family reasons.

  i was thinking, would it work if we created some of those maps where you can pin your location but do it anonymously (i.e not using our jwd i.d as a reference)?
