Prisca, Tina,Angharad,
Thanks for the welcome.I'm very glad to be here. I think this board is going to be even better now that I'm posting and not just lurking. My inlaws are still captive in the borg. We'd love to get them out but they are still convinced they have the truth. Although we do see some cracking in the walls as far as my MIL is concerned. There are times when she doesn't care what the elders say about her activities. But then she will turn right around and say they have to do something because the elders say so. Maybe theres hope I really don't know.

Hi Jayhawk,
Thanks for the welcome. I will try to get my hubby on here. I read him a lot of the stuff on here and also at freeminds. I have no fear that he will ever return to the witnesses. He wants no part of it.
You are right it really dumb some of the things they disfellowship for. Or maybe I should say most of the things.

Hi my name is Granny. I married an inactive witness. He is no longer a witness. He was disfellowshipped because he married me in a church besides the Kingdom Hall. I was so happy to find this forum. It has helped a lot to understand what he went through when he was a kid growing up. I have lurked here for months but when I read the bomb threat thread I just had to post to it because my inlaws were there.Anyway its nice to meet you all and thanks for the help over the months. Hi, I'm fairly new here. I mainly lurk here. It keeps me up on the dub doings. My husband was an inactive witness when I met him. He is no longer a witness. I read this thread with great interest because my hubby's family was there. My FIL told us the drama that was interupted was about obedience, and he talked about how obediently everyone followed instructions. My hubby had to wonder if the bomb threat may have been called in to reinforce the talk on obedience that was going on at the time. What do you all think? You have to admit it would have been an excellent way to reinforce the talk. Granny

My hubby and I were married 34yrs ago and we had an experience similar to the one Claudia spoke of. My hubby's parents refused to come to our wedding because we were being married in a church. My hubby wasinactive at the time but not yet disfellowshipped. It would have been nice if his mom and dad had been at our wedding because my mom passed away before I ever met my hubby. My dad was there but no mom. We had convinced my hubby's grandma to come to the wedding and she was really looking forward to it. My hubby's momm found out she had agreed to come and told her if she went she would be taken in front of a committee. Grandma wanted to come but she was so scared of the committee that she stayed home. We found out after the wedding that they had gone to Hubby's dads bosses funeral in that very same church months before we were married ther. I asked mom why they could go to a funeral there and not to their own son's wedding. She told me they only went to the funeral because they did'nt want dad to lose his job. One excuse is as good as another I guess. As you sais REAL SAD!!!.
