My J-Dub FIL told us the Society was forced to go to the paperback books because they were not recouping the cost of printing on the hardbacks. Which I think we all know is not true.

Cheesy Books: What's Up in the WT Bindery?
by Room 215 indoes anyone out there have a clue to why all of brooklyn's latest books are paperbacks?
it can't be that aggradizement, property acquisition and construction are superceding book publishing, can it?
whatever happened to the oft-quoted scripture about offering the almighty ``lame sacrifices'' on the altar?

Safe4kids, Musky, Billygoat,
Thanks for the welcome. Billy I never had any intention of becoming a Dub although I guess from what I've read here it would be very easy to get sucked in. My Mil talked me into doing a bible study when my husband and I were going together. She wanted me to do it so I would know what my hubby was thinking when I taught our kids about holidays etc. Well on the third study she told me she had turned my name in as an interested person. I was very unhappy about that because I told her up front it was only to learn what my hubby was thinking about with holidays and stuff. I ended the study right then and there.
I've learned more reading this board than I ever would have Dub literature.

Hi QCA1, Individuals Wife and Cathy,
Thanks for the welcome. This board is great. I have learned a lot just lurking all the months I did. It's going to be even better now that I'm posting. None of my kids or grandkids are witnesses. My husband left before we were married. We lived through the 1975 thing. We were married in 1966 and my MIL told us constantly that we would only have til 75. Now she says she never said any such thing. Parroting the society I guess.Yes there is an enormous amount of hypocrisy in the society. My inlaws wouldnt come to our wedding but they went to a funeral some months before we were married in the same church we were married in. My Fil's boss's wife passed away. My FIl was even a pallbearer.
Well it's great to be here.

Hi Tracy
Thanks for the welcome. I agree they are so confused, and unfortunately brain washed too I'm afraid.
I really am enjoying this board. I'm working on my hubby to get him on here too. Time will tell.

REAL HELP!
by logicalthinker inif you want real help please go to:.
the official site for jehovah's witnesses and those truly interested in the jw organisation and the word of god.. i wonder if you would find so many sites (such as this one) dedicated to the verbal tearing apart of jehovah's witnesses and their religion if there was not something special about it?.
afterall when was the last time you found 10,000+ search results for catholics, jews, mormons or any supposed sect or cult?.

Logicalthinker,
You said if someone was disfellowshipped then he was unrepentant. What about those who were disfellowshipped for something they did not do. My husband is one of those people and I know there are many others. Are you saying people like my husband need to repent when they are not guilty. My husband did nothing wrong. This kind of thinking is what drives a lot of people away. -

Prisca, Tina,Angharad,
Thanks for the welcome.I'm very glad to be here. I think this board is going to be even better now that I'm posting and not just lurking. My inlaws are still captive in the borg. We'd love to get them out but they are still convinced they have the truth. Although we do see some cracking in the walls as far as my MIL is concerned. There are times when she doesn't care what the elders say about her activities. But then she will turn right around and say they have to do something because the elders say so. Maybe theres hope I really don't know.
