Brown.... I cant cite this next statement, but it was on MSN's homepage a few weeks ago, a new study showing how most if not everyone had brown eyes up until about 4000 years ago when a genetic change happened to turn new borns eyes to blue, green and grey.

Jan KM question box
by carla inthe question is- what two publications should be studied with interested ones?
they go on about the bible teach book for starting a bible study, it's ok to use some other tract, after the bible teach is worship god book.
they should finish both books even if qualifying for baptism before then.

If I remember right, there was little blurb in the KM, the one we get at the beginning of every year, about how we can read all 1189 chapters of the Bible in one year. Well a MS did a talk on it at the TMS, about how we should read the Bible daily. Then an Elder did an entire talk (35min) the next week.
Im assuming not an indepth reading of the Bible, Im sure their advocating a very shallow level of reading.

Its therapeutic knowing there are so many other active Jehovahs Witnesses that are in my same position. So its a bit encouraging.

That maybe, just maybe a Bible should be used in a Bible study. I don't know, maybe it's just me thinking one should actually use a bible at a bible study.
You know its funny, lately in my Kingdom Hall they have been promoting the use of an actual Bible study, without the aid of publications. But I have to ask; are they really interested in you studying the Bible without our publications? I personally have no time to study the Bible and neither does my wife or children. We have got the Revelation Book study, TM School, Kingdom Ministry (question and answer), WT magazine, Sunday meeting, and Saturday and Sunday door knocking. Between all of this, plus work, plus home maintanance, and anything else you have in your life, there is no time left. Its the constant drone of "Christian Meetings" that have nothing to do with worshiping God, "studying" (I use the term lightly) and having the door shut in my face, really brings you down.
civicsi00,
Why does it take 2 books to convert a person? Did Jesus and his apostles take this much time to preach to someone?
They want you to be fully indoctrinated, so as to become a full member of Gods people. Its a big decision (a huge decision), because you are going to be worn down with the constant Preaching, and WT mag study, BS, KM, TMS and the like. I think when people get baptised before they are indoctrinated to JW Theology, newly baptised ones end up being DF's, DA'd or fade fairly quickly. They dont want too many people leaving.

Need some info
by ang inhello, i am currently writing a paper regarding the jehovah witness faith in regards to health care practices.
i've found plenty of information online, but i would like the opinion of a practicing jehovah's witness.
i am very interested in the viewpoints of your faith and would appreciate any insight you may have.

So if your idea is to get info from a "Practicing Jehovahs Witness" I suggest you go to a Watchtower Magazine, look up any current information, and that Information that you get will be the same as what will come out of a Jehovah's Witnesses mouth. Its all very simple, whatever the Watchtower Magazine says, a JW has to believe. If we don't believe everything then we have to keep it to ourselves or risk being disfellowshipped for not holding to Christian Unity.

Last year there was an entire article on "Blood", if you are able to get a Watchtower CD 2007 you can get the entire articel there, I think its a few pages long. Also you may be able to get a copy of their "Transfusion Alternatives" video, which may also help your thesis paper, if you go to your local Kingdom Hall and ask nicely. There's also a big chapter on it in the Book "in search of Christian Freedom" by Raymond Franz. But really though all you have to do is google it, and you will get a plethora of sites regarding the use of blood according to Jehovahs Witnesses.
Hope this helps. Im pretty sure no one here will email you anything, as "onthewayout" put it, we are paranoid.
Go to this thread you can get the Watchtower CD http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/151383/1.ashx, but there are plenty of places you can get the WT CD on the net, most of them are on "torrent" sites.
Most of us who are still in the organization don't really know much about blood, other than we are allowed some fractions of blood and others were not allowed. But the General rule is we are not allowed to have blood. All Baptized Witnesses carry in their wallet a "No Blood" card in case we are incapacitated and need medical treatment and is that card is there to protect us. Trust me its all very confusing, thats why there is a "Witness Liason" for hospitals to advise us as to whether or not we are allowed types or fractions of blood.

by Open mind insomething was wrapped around my neck at birth and it wasn't the umbilical cord.
it was a neck tie!.

There is absolutely no excuse for getting into a suit to sit on a plastic chair at a brothers apartment for the Book Study.
Absolutely no excuse, in fact I have brought that up numerous times with my wife. Last year I showed up in jeans and a t-shirt to test the theory: Will I learn better in something comfortable or uncomfortable.? The results were stupendous. If fact I felt even more spiritual for having done so.

You've got 2 options go to a few meetings see if you can be sold on salvation or respectfully decline any type of relationship with her. Although, what is strange here is that she is associating with you to begin with?, she may actually be reaching out, trying to get a reason to leave. Either way she will have all kinds of emotional baggage. You will just have to think about it if you really care for her. Mabey you should have a heart to heart talk wit her to see how she really feels about the Organization, if she's sold on Paradise, you should probably be only friends.
